March 16 – Life in a Lockdown #50
And so another week is over.
Kids are back at school, which I am sure has been very strange for parents across England.
A lot of places seem to be thinking about the weeks to come and hoping that that the roadmap works out. I hope business manage to thrive, however as the closing of Thorton’s shops show this is such a bad time for so many companies still.
It seems weird to celebrate another Mother’s Day where I’ve not really been able to hug my Mum. I feel like to me it really feels like a year now. Especially with having
On With The Linky!
Starting off I must say a huge thank you to Bex from Futures for joining me each week as my co-host and of course Jenni at Lyrical Host (affiliate link) for kickstarting the idea!
If you would like to take part, it’s simple:
We ask that you give both Bex and I a link back in your post, as hosts of the linkup and you can copy the questions below.
After that; all you need to do is pop back to mine or Bex’s post and add your link in the inlinkz.
1) How are you feeling/coping?
2) What have you been up to over the past 7 days?
3) What do you think the coming weeks and months might hold for you (or the world)?
4) If you could remind yourself something about this time in years to come what would it be?
5) What have you bought this week that others might like? Especially if from as mall business.
6) What is a unique (or not) technique you have used to get you through this time?
7) What is something your readers might not know about you?
8) What have you been grateful for over the past 7 days?

So what did week 49 hold:
1) How are you feeling/coping?
Yeah, I’m OK – I’m sort of just plodding along. I have my referral review on Friday and they think I need some extra help so just awaiting further information on what they are thinking about.
I’ve had a lump on the back of my neck for a while, I’m pretty sure it’s just an enlarged lymph node but as it’s not gone down I went to the doctors so they want to take blood.
Also, I’m braving the hospital next week to have my eyes looked at. I’ve actually not been back since my checkup after the CXL due to COVID, so I really need them checked. It feels like it will be a bit of an adventure and day out.
2) What have you been up to over the past 7 days?
Trying to keep on keeping on.
I’ve gone into a bit of a numb phase, which in some ways is good as I’m not all over the place emotional. However, being numb isn’t great overall either.
3) What do you think the coming weeks and months might hold for you (or the world)?
I’m hoping that for me we do get a bit more freedom. It would be nice to see friends and family at a safe distance.
To be able to go out and explore a little more.
I’ve been thinking about taking the plunge and getting an electric wheelchair at some point when things get better so I can explore a bit more and have a bit more freedom. I can’t self propel anymore and hate the “out of control” feeling you get when being pushed.
4) If you could remind yourself something about this time in years to come what would it be?
Hugs mean a lot – being without human contact such as a hug or a shoulder to lean on is hard. Try and reach out to people.
5) What have you bought this week that others might like? Especially if from a small business.
Nothing but here are some lovely flowers I finally posted on Instagram:

6) What is a unique (or not) technique you have used to get you through this time?
I have to use a heated eye mask once a day and I normally use a reusable one which I’ve mentioned before. However, I ended up buying someone use ones to use in bed and they have such a lovely scent to them which definitely helps me unwind alongside the heat.
7) What is something your readers might not know about you?
I used to swim a lot, I loved the feeling of being in the water and just gliding through it. At one point I would probably have taken being in the water over being on land.
Now my mobility is bad I miss swimming as I did, however, I would like to get back in the pool and just enjoy being in the water again at some point.
8) What have you been grateful for over the past 7 days?
Los Banditos in Lichfield – they did an amazing delivery on Friday to us and it was delicious. Which was really nice after my mental health review.

Life goes on and will continue to do so, but in different ways.
Definitely I think things will be very different for sometime to come.
My husband swears by his hemp-filled eye mask, they can be such a help.
Ohh I’ll have to look into one of those thank you I’ve just bought an electric one.
I like the idea of the heated mask, particulaly the night time one.
They are nice – I’ve found they really help relax and soothe me.
best thing i ever got was my mobility scooter, i went from ‘dis’-abled to ‘en’-abled no longer prisoner in my home and can go out and enjoy life again, so go for that electric wheelchair, it will make such a difference!
Aww thank you! I did think about going for a scooter for a while but I think a wheelchair would suit me better.
I think a lot of people are struggling because of the pandemic, especially on occasions like Mother’s Day, hopefully it won’t be too much longer until things return to some kind of normality 🙂
Definitely it is hard to think it is the second Mother’s Day celebrated in this way – I remember thinking next year will different, now I just wonder if 2022 will be or not.
I was so sad to hear that all Thornton’s shops will be closing. I love going and buying chocolate gifts for people.
I know I couldn’t believe it! I hope they manage to find a way to keep going in other shops as they are hoping.
I think this pandemic has got to us all, I’ve been really struggling for a while, but also don’t like the idea of life going back to how it was before.
Definitely, we aren’t built to deal with situations like the pandemic at all are we?
