October 27 – Life in a Lockdown #30
You may have to forgive me for a brief post this week, I feel like it was only yesterday I sat writing last weeks.
Covid levels are increasing, the government voted against helping low-income parents out with feeding their children over half term. Wales are on lockdown for 17 days, Scotland has much stricter restrictions, while most of England bar those in tier 3 and just carrying on, carrying on.
Oh and the clocks went back signalling now is the time of year, I struggle with the most.
On With The Linky!
Starting off I must say a huge thank you to Bex from Futures for joining me each week as my co-host and of course Jenni at Lyrical Host (affiliate link) for kickstarting the idea!
If you would like to take part, it’s simple:
We ask that you give both Bex and I a link back in your post, as hosts of the linkup and you can copy the questions below.
After that; all you need to do is pop back to mine or Bex’s post and add your link in the inlinkz.
1) How are you feeling/coping?
2) What have you been up to over the past 7 days?
3) What do you think the coming weeks and months might hold for you (or the world)?
4) If you could remind yourself something about this time in years to come what would it be?
5) What have you bought this week that others might like? Especially if from as mall business.
6) What is a unique (or not) technique you have used to get you through this time?
7) What is something your readers might not know about you?
8) What have you been grateful for over the past 7 days?

So what did week 30 hold:
1) How are you feeling/coping?
I spent most of the week not really knowing what is going on. After my last DBT session, I was up early another morning for a gas safety check and then Friday a spoke to my CPN (who is leaving eek)! My fatigue pretty much ruled the rest of the time.
Sunday I got around to drafting some content for some other people, so it might be a bit sparse on the blog this week. However, I’m hoping to get started on gift guides – so keep an eye out for those later in the week perhaps.
I’m really missing having a pet right now, I just want a pet to cuddle and look after and just have fun with. It’s left me feeling empty.
Inwardly I’m trying to ignore the outside news, I’m living in my government-mandated bubble inside a bubble of my own.
2) What have you been up to over the past 7 days?
OK, I pretty much answered this above. I did get my DBT certificate on Thursday, I’m putting it on the fridge so I can see it. Alas now comes the hard work as I need to keep up the techniques without someone in my ear every Monday.
Other than that I’ve been entering competitions when my brain isn’t playing ball games as I don’t need it too much for that.
3) What do you think the coming weeks and months might hold for you (or the world)?
Everything is going to get better and we will all wonder what we have been worried about for the past months..
OK totally not going to happen but I can dream, right?
4) If you could remind yourself something about this time in years to come what would it be?
We couldn’t get through this without each other.
5) What have you bought this week that others might like? Especially if from a small business.
Nothing this week – I’ve been good and not spent pennies on anything unneeded. Can you believe it?! I think I need a gold medal.
6) What is a unique (or not) technique you have used to get you through this time?
Sarcasm, I always resort to it – it always helps.
Try it.
7) What is something your readers might not know about you?
When I was growing up I wanted to be an archaeologist.
8) What have you been grateful for over the past 7 days?
TV and on-demand streaming..
I have watched so much over the past few weeks.
Any ideas on what to watch next?

I have gone back to see the difference in this post to the current posts, do you ever do that? It does not seem to be a good week this one, but you have survived and sound a lot better now.
I do – I find it really interesting to look back and I think once the world is better it will be interesting to look back on there, it’s almost a bit like a diary for the years to come.
I was thinking about you and this post as they announced another lockdown. Stay strong and don’t forget to reach out.
Thank you that means a lot.
I am the opposite and have spent far too much money this week, but then it is half term so wanted to give the kids a treat
Aww it is nice though when you have something like that going on I hope you had a lovely half term.
I’m sure we’re the minority, but my family has actually really enjoyed the slower pace of life the lockdown has brought. Everything is cancelled, which has given us more time to just hang out as a family. Although I will definitely be happy for life to go back to normal (if that happens ever).
I’m sure it has worked so well for some people, I think if I didn’t like seeing my family so much I would have found it a lot easier.
We have been staying home and being safe, so not too much to talk about. I hope you can rescue another pet soon, they do bring happiness to our lives
Thank you – they definitely do it makes all the difference having a pet to cuddle at times.
I posted my first gift guide this week, it was so much more time consuming than I thought it would be!
They take so long don’t they! It always amazes me how much time I spend on them.
We’re now in Tier three (not that I was going out anywhere very much), so I shall be trying to avoid other people even more than normal. Although when we went to the greengrocer’s this week, there was a couple who were not wearing masks, which really annoyed me. The fact that neither were wearing masks made me think that it was highly unlikely that they both had a medical condition which meant they could not wear a mask, and it was more likely they were either just stupid or Covid-deniers (or maybe that’s the same thing!). My husband and I lurked at the back of the store till they had left so as to avoid coming near them, but I felt sorry for the guy at the till who had to serve them.
Oh no it’s hard isn’t it – I find myself stepping back every time I see someone who doesn’t have a mask on, especially when they decide to walk right up close – like at least stand away from me.
Covid levels are increasing here too! We don’t know what to expect tomorrow or next month!
It’s so hard isn’t it – I don’t know what to do about anything at the moment.
This pandemic is really exhausting but I love the way you are coping with everything.
It is so hard isn’t it – I feel the same, I don’t know how to keep going at times.
We are having our grandson a bit more though we can’t cuddle which is driving me just nuts there’s nothing like a big hug . You should get another pet I’m sure it would be good for you . I’ve been wanting a little dog too but so far not seeing one to suit. Patiently still looking till the right one comes along. Take care x
I’m so glad you are able to at least see your grandson, it is so hard not to give loved ones a big hug isn’t it?
I certainly hope the world gets better. It will take a lot of empathy and patience, but I think it’s possible within the next 5-10 years. Fingers crossed!
100% the world is a strange place right now for so many reasons and it is hard.
Lockdown is the normal now . Only thing i want is my children to continue getting their education
I hope they are managing to keep learning OK.
The government’s decision about free meals for children was shocking. I think we’re going to see a lot of surprising cuts in coming weeks and months though, sadly. The Time for Change mental health organisation is no longer getting funding either, it’s devastating.
Definitely, they are going to have to try and get back all the money they have spent out and I don’t think how they do it will be pretty.
What would we all do without streaming and on-demand? Lol! We’ve literally been binge-watching everything these last few months.
I know right – I can’t imagine how we would have coped before it.
I’ve got gift guides to start next week too, can’t say I’m looking forward to that but I’ll be fine once I start. I’m watching Life on BBC IPlayer at the moment and really enjoying that. Mich x
Good luck with getting your gift guides going, I’ve just finished this weeks phew! Still a few more to go though.
Thanks for sharing an update! I hope you’re able to adopt a new pet soon.
This is definitely a very hard time for everyone on the entire globe. It’s so hard that many are losing hope, depression and anxiety is rising almost everywhere. But we should not lose hope and just continue life as everything will come to end especially this pandemic where experiencing.
It is awful isn’t it – I’m not sure how my mental health is going to keep up through winter I am only hoping it goes OK.
I think it is disgraceful that the governments in several (at least) areas are not doing more to help people who struggle with food insecurity. It makes me both angry and sad.
I hope that you are able to adopt another pet sometime in the near future..
Having a pet around you sure does help to reduce stress. I learned a new hobby that’s really helpful, I started to learn how to sew and create my own style of clothes in this week. The government here in our country too struggles alot of problem and issues in this pandemic. Hoping this pandemic ends soon.Keep safe everyone!
Definitely, I so miss having a pet about for that reason just spending time around a pet brings not stress levels so much!
It is crazy – I feel so much for people who have suddenly had everything taken from them and are getting nothing. Thank you.
So weird how we’re all living very different lives, yet similar. I didn’t realize the clocks went back different weekends in different areas. Ours go back this coming weekend, but yes, it’s always hard!
It’s so strange isn’t it – I keep getting tripped up by it being different in different places. It will probably confuse me again once everyone else’s changes too.
Have you checked out the series Schitt’s Creek? Cases are on the rise here as well. It’s frightening knowing cold winter weather is coming.
I’ve heard a bit about it but not watched it, I’ll have to have a nose. It’s scary isn’t it 🙁
Sarcasm always helps! Thankfully, we’ve been able to visit some state parks during Covid so that has helped relieve the tension.
I bet that has been lovely – getting out in the open and just exploring!
If I was closer to you, you could borrow my pets <3
I'm hoping to get started on gift guides this week too. xx
Aww thank you ❤ I would totally take you up on it as well. I’ve started crying which I think is a good sign? As I’ve held it in a lot, rather than just crying it out.
Here in The Netherlands we just had another press conference this evening and it looks like we will continue “lockdown” until mid December. I can’t really complain, been working from home and I am more productive than working in an office full of people. Spending more time with my cats and my husband, post a bit more often on my blog and planted some tulip bulbs.
It sounds like it is working well for you and yay for getting out and planting some bulbs. I think for many it has been nice to spend time with loved ones more.
I am all about sarcasm as well. Pets are pretty awesome, but I have cats, and they won’t always cuddle with me if I’m feeling lonely.
That’s the downside with cats isn’t it? They just do what they want to do when they want and care for no one else lol.
I love that you are doing this feature weekly. It was such a great way to chronicle this time.
I think it will definitely be interesting to look back on in years to come 🙂
I have been working on my gift guides and have the first one scheduled for tomorrow. We have been watching how I met your mother, never seen it before so lots to catch up on
Ohh I’ll have to keep a lookout for your gift guide I always love reading them.
Sarcasm! Where did you get that from.?
??? I have no idea… Wouldn’t be you would it…
After dreary months of lockdown, I am finally starting to meet my kids and grands. Hope everything gets sorted soon. God bless us all. Regards Naomi
That is awesome I am so glad you are getting to see your family again.
