Life in a Lockdown #15
So it is week 15 of Life in a Lockdown. Things are still slowly opening; outdoor theatres and pools have opened over the weekend. While cricket is the first of grass sports to kick off again.
Yesterday saw tattoo shops and some other close contact services such as tanning salons reopen.
Indoor gyms and swimming pools should follow on the 25th.
As strange as it was seeing the world around me closed down, it is just as strange seeing it re-open and wondering what will happen.
As ever I have to kick off this post I must say thank you to Bex at Futures for coming on this journey of lockdown remembrance each week and of course Jenni at Lyrical Host (affiliate link) for kickstarting the idea!
If you would like to take part I promise it is simple:
We do ask that you give both Bex and I a link back in your post, with how you find the link-up! You will be able to copy all the questions from below to answer in your own world.
Then all you need to do is pop back to mine or Bex’s post and pop your link in the inlinkz so we can come and read your post.
1) How are you feeling/coping?
2) What are you doing to keep yourself occupied?
3) How are you dealing with everything at the moment – are you self-isolated, going out for essentials etc? Has this changed?
4) What advice do you have for others?
5) What have you bought this week that others might like? Especially if from a small business.
6) How has your routine been this week?
7) Have you planned anything for once lockdown is over in the past 7 days?
8) Anything else?

So what did week 15 hold:
1) How are you feeling/coping?
Honestly, I feel like the past week has been a bit of a blur, I can’t remember a whole lot about what I did (or didn’t do).
However, I do remember going to my parents for a socially distanced meal again, which was lovely. My Mum makes the BEST turkey pasta and we had ordered in some cakes from a local bakery who deliver.
I got a phone call in the week which asked if I wanted to book into the dentists for a checkup. I’m still mulling that one over, for multiple reasons.
2) What are you doing to keep yourself occupied?
I’ve been watching an unhealthy amount of Randonautica videos on YouTube. Not 100% sure, but hey!
Our TV viewing has switched over to Once Upon a Time. Sadly Britbox didn’t let us watch all of Misfits, it just stopped playing as we hit the last season, thanks for that Britbox! So we headed back over to Netflix.
3) How are you dealing with everything at the moment – are you self-isolated, going out for essentials etc? Has this changed?
I admit anxiety is high, but I’m trying to talk myself into being calmer.
We can’t control what is happening around us, but we can try and control our reactions to it. That is something I am trying to learn and bring into my life. After all, I am a really emotionally reactive person.
4) What advice do you have for others?
Same as I’ve been saying for a while. Do what you think is right, that is all we can do.
Make sure you feel safe, there is nothing wrong with going out and following the rules and there is nothing wrong with staying at home for a while longer.
5) What have you bought this week that others might like? Especially if from a small business.

You have to excuse the lighting in these photos I really quickly took them the other day to leave a Facebook review.
This is a new subscription from Amazonite Griffin and isn’t it fab?
Each box that is sent out is slightly different (which if you check out her Facebook page you will see from the reviews).
Each month you are guaranteed a candle alongside a whole host of other awesome products.
I absolutely can’t wait to see what comes in future boxes. These boxes are shipped internationally and start at £25.

6) How has your routine been this week?
Oddly as I don’t remember much about what I have been up to I do know I’ve been waking up around the same time each day.
So lets go with all over the place, apart from when I wake up.
7) Have you planned anything for once lockdown is over this week?
No still nothing I did ask my parents about a holiday but that idea was shot down pretty quickly.
8) Anything else.

The Amazonite Griffin set looks lovely. I am cautious of everything opening up but it is lovely that the kids are a bit more relaxed
I can imagine for kids it is really nice to see somethings getting back to normal.
I went grocery shopping this week for the first time in ages! Nothing like having a fully stocked fridge.
Oh definitely I am with you there – it is such a boost knowing you have food in!
It is getting really bad here in the US. I am in KY and it is scary as numbers are increasing daily. Stay well.
Oh gosh – it is so crazy that people meant to protect us, leave us feeling like they are playing with our lives at times.
California isn’t doing great. We reopened and now, so many business with indoor activities must close down again ;( My family and I are okay. We love being at home but really want things to get back to normal.
Oh gosh that must be hard, we have an outbreak nearby and think we might be locking down again.
When I started this year, I didn’t fathom I will get to see a pandemic that would bring the world to a halt. Honestly, life in this lockdown hasn’t been easy one and I am super glad the world is opening up gradually as things have started moving up.
It is crazy isn’t it – I didn’t think anything like this would ever happen in my lifetime.
Feels super strange to see everything reopening again. I miss my gym but don’t feel safe enough to go back yet….
It’s hard isn’t it – I wonder when / if I will ever feel safe like I did before.
Think it’s been a bit of a rollercoaster week for everybody. Touch wood things will start looking a little better
Definitely it is hard to keep up with all the changes.
I love the idea that we need to do what we think is right! I hope things will be better soon!
Definitely it’s all we can do and it might be different from someone else and that’s OK.
We’re slowly re-opening, but a little behind where England are. We’re not in any hurry to get back to normal. The kids are back to school August and we are still working from home. It’ll be interesting to see how things play out xx
No, I think you should be glad to be a little slower than us, I wish we were being more careful and slow about it all.
I don’t know about you but I am so ready for this lock down to be over with. It has been so taxing on the kids especially.
I’m sort of half and half – I want it to end but I also don’t want things to get worse.
I do wonder if we’re all going to lock down again at some point or other! It all still feels so up in the air!
It’s so hard isn’t it – I hope we manage to keep things under control from now on.
It is very strange having to keep to the systems set up isn’t it and each place does it slightly differently.
Since I have worked through the whole pandemic, I really don’t notice much of a difference. I never really went out or socialized so it is pretty much business as usual for us.
I can assume that’s a bit of a relief, not seeing how different things can be.
We only had a partial shut down in our area. Things are slowly getting back to ‘normal’ and schools are beginning to open. I had my hair cut the second the hair salons opened up for business!
I’ve seen a lot of people going to get there hair done, I am sure it has made people feel more normal.
Things are still kind of the same for me the hardest thing is the children not going to school
I can’t imagine what it is like for people having to homeschool at the moment.
I agree with you it is all about trying to control our own reactions to this situation…it is hard though and we just take each day as it comes and try to stay positive x
It really is – but it is all we can try and hope to do.
As much as work isn’t the highlight of my day, I think going there every day and retaining my routines has been a saviour through all of this, I have autism and my anxiety goes through the roof with change, so although there’s been multiple changes at work (a GP surgery), at least I have remained in a routine and I do have some really supportive colleagues too.
I can imagine for many being able to keep working has been a big thing, it is a bit of normality within a crazy world.
We are now under Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine wherein some of the stores, restaurants, malls and businesses are slowly re-opening but still have a curfew. But to be honest, I have a lot of fear today compare before because right now a lot of people are going outside instead of staying at home.
It’s a shame isn’t it? So many people aren’t following the rules we are given here as well.
We are pleased that the lockdown is easing here too. We are planning a socially distance barbeque with a family friend this weekend. We were meant to be exploring Uganda together but here we are in the UK.
I hope you have an amazing time at your BBQ! I bet it will be nice to catch up.
It sounds like you had a nice time with your parents, it’s nice to begin the slow journey back to normality, we seem to be taking it a lot slower than most people but I would rather be cautious.
Definitely it was really nice to see them, we are doing the same really – we sit outside and they sit inside and it’s very weird – no touching or going to close allowed or my Dad tells us off haha!
I started counting the days from day one of the lockdown, I stopped at 102. That’s when I got a call from the HR that they are letting me go after 17 years.
Oh no 🙁 that must have been absolutely devastating for you.
We have been on quarantine for 120 days now. There are just different levels, different restrictions for every “level of quarantine.” Right now, some businesses are allowed to operate, buses and trains have started operations but we saw a spike in the number of cases. I guess we will be back to stricter rules again. Oh how depressing.
It is so hard to keep up with what is allowed and isn’t at times I think.
I can’t believe the dentist rang you, you can’t get an appointment here!
That’s crazy! I should really try and make my mind up on what to do about it – think I might put it off a bit longer.
I am fortunate in that I work at home so the lockdown did not have as negative an impact on me as it has on some others. I am watching news reports and talking with friends to see how people around the world are faring.
It is strange isn’t it – the whole world being affected by the same thing.
Loving the Amazonite Griffin items you purchased also looks like you had a lovely time enjoying the turkey pasta with mum.
I definitely did, it is always so nice to get to see them as well.
Oh I love those items from Amazonite Griffin! It has been a strange week but things in it were very much needed and I am looking forward to the week ahead.
They are fab aren’t they – she does such awesome candles as well.
We’re slowly opening in stages here as well, this week nothing new opened as so many states are surging. We celebrated my son’s birthday with a very tiny family gathering, it was one of he best we’ve ever had. My advice is still to stay home whenever possible and to wear a mask.
Aww, I love that he enjoyed it so much! It is amazing how doing things small can be just what we need at times.
What a great box! I always love getting boxes like this, so I”ll check them out. I hope you do well this week.
I have to admit I am a sucker for a mystery box! I love how different this one is as well.
I believe we’re on stage two or three. Things are slowly starting to open up.
Fingers crossed with things opening up we won’t get another spike.
We’re slowly re-opening here too but frankly, we’re not in any hurry to get back to “normal”. We’ve gotten used to lockdown living anyhow and figure we can wait a few more weeks to see how things pan out.
No, I am the same as well, I would rather be safe and stay in for a while longer.
Glad you’re still doing okay! I’ve been working hard to manage my daily anxiety, and it’s helpful to just take things 1 day at a time. Hang in there.
Anxiety is such an awful thing right now, isn’t it? I think a lot of us are struggling with it.
It has been an up and down week for you, I feel how you are feeling as been the same. I am glad you got to have a meal with your parents and enjoy her turkey pasta, I think you should share the recipe as it sounds lovely
I’ll try and get it off of her – Ash wasn’t really a fan and she made it the night after he came out of the hospital and he’s loved it ever since. I can’t make it as she does though.
Getting a great box like this one will make the isolation efforts a little easier and fun. I am used to it all now but the fear and danger are still possible.
Definitely, it is always fun to have something arrive, little surprised have been keeping me going.
We never had a complete shut down in our area and now we are one of the many new hot spots in the US. Have fun as you begin to get your life back to normal and are able to get out again.
Oh no, I am so sorry you are having to deal with that. We’ve just been given the order to wear masks in shops in 10 days?! It’s all very odd to me lol.
I keep having up and down times I know it’s not good if you’ve anxiety Glad you saw your parents though. I’ve seen my little grandson at a social distance but I just want to hug him . Doesn’t seem fair it leaves me with my heart and my arms aching. Love the box of goodies they are nice x What can we do only plod on and hope we get back to normal soon x
Aww I am so glad you got to see them – it is so hard that we can’t just have a hug though isn’t it?
we just got word yesterday that we are reshutting down in my area. uh oh
Oh no, I am so sorry – I hope you don’t have to stay in lockdown again for too long.
Bit of an up and down for you this week. Its still a sureel situation that I think is a bit too relaxed for my liking. I’m glad you saw your oarents again and I like the sound of turkey pasta and delicious cakes! Just keep doing what you are doing and take care. Your doing really well.
Thank you so much – we are keeping on, keeping on! All you can do isn’t it? Hopefully, life will start to get easier for all soon.
It will do soon, but only when we ourselves are ready x
