How To Set Up Your House For Relaxation
Your house is more than a place to hang your hat and eat and sleep. It is supposed to be your oasis where you can come home from a long day and unwind. It should be a place where you can achieve total relaxation.
Yet, maybe because we are too busy or maybe because we just don’t understand the possibilities, but our houses are not as cosy as they could be. So, instead of accepting it as it is, we should take some time to make sure that it becomes everything it can be and that you deserve.
In this article, I will go over several ways that you can make your home the place you go to get away from the world and relax.
1 – Add some fire.

No matter how big or small your house maybe, a fireplace is always an excellent option. Both for warmth and for ambience. There is nothing quite like the look, feel and sound of a fire that just makes us relax and enjoy life.
If you have a large house and want to actually heat your space, then a big pellet or wood fireplace will be able to heat a large area. If you want to get technical, a wood fire uses about 6 to 9 kW. Each kW is enough to heat a space of about 20 square feet. In other words, a fireplace can heat up a one-floor house very easily.
If you have an apartment, then you can go with some ethanol fireplace options as they generally are not quite as warm and come in around 2 to 4 kW. This makes them ideal for small spaces.
There is nothing like sitting in front of a fire with a glass of wine in hand and a loved one by your side.
2 – Create a meditation room.

If you have space you should dedicate a room, or at least a portion of a room, for meditation. Meditating is one of the best ways to deal with stress. And even if you feel good and not particularly stressed out, then it will keep you in that state of mind. It centres you and can help you think more clearly.
Your space needs to be set up to get the most out of meditating. You should be able to sit comfortably on the floor with a rug or pillow under you so there shouldn’t be any clutter in that space.
Putting a water fixture there will also aid in the effect as the sound of running water is not only relaxing, but it will aid in putting you in a trancelike state. Water also helps to keep it natural. You can add even more natural elements to complete the space. Rocks, wood and plants can also give you a sense of being outside in the open.
3 – Keep it organized.
Clutter creates stress. And when you are already busy, the thought of cleaning up can be overwhelming which in turn makes you less likely to take the initiative to get it under control. A vicious circle starts and it becomes difficult to get out of it.
Instead of always trying to clean up, you should organize your house so that it doesn’t get cluttered to begin with. Yes, this is easier said than done, but with the right organization, it shouldn’t be so hard.
Everything should have its space. And it should be organized by the type of thing it is so you never have to try to find the right place for it. Have one spot for your shoes like a shoe shelf or rack. That way you don’t have several pairs of shoes lying around.
Magazines should have a rack, your work things should go to your desk at home or in a closet on a dedicated shelf. You get the idea. When everything has a place where it goes, it becomes second nature to put things where they belong when you walk in the door or finish using something.
4 – Use lots of plants.

Inviting nature into your house can be just the ticket to feeling more relaxed. The key is to have lots of plants as they help not only create a pleasant atmosphere but also clean the air making it healthier. The increase in oxygen will help you breathe easier and will also help you relax.
Use plants that are suited to the amount of light you get in your home. Small trees that need lots of light can find a home in an unused corner as long as there is enough sunlight.
