  2. I actually spent my birthday money list year on a wool blanket, and NO ONE is allowed to touch it! And do not get between me and my sheepskin slippers, or there will be serious trouble. #GrannyGram

  4. My rooms is full of candles and I have fairy lights at the bottom of my bed! They make me feel so cosy and relaxed. I love getting my house more festive for the colder months

  5. A big yes to all of these! Thank you for reminding my why I love autumn so much as I’ve been feeling a little sad about the fact summer is over this year (well… Time wise, not that we actually got a summer lol)

  6. By lighting our wood burner – we already had to light it on the Bank Holiday weekend as it was so cold, and it instantly made everything feel cosy!

  7. I have to say I love Autumn simply because live sort of slows down and you get to spend a lot more time cosying up on the couch with a cup of hot chocolate 🙂

  8. The only thing that makes summer ending okay, is the thought of cosy autumn nights with blankets and candles! I think Matalan does such lovely home things, like fleesey blankets and lovely cushions 🙂 x

  9. We have recently set up fairy lights amongst some logs in our fire place, tick! The blankets have never been put away as its still so cold in the mornings, no new tables as the old ones will do… candles… yes although its a summer scent of watermelon burning… and the log fire has been blocked by a duvet stuffed up the chimney to stop the draughts!! Great tips!

  10. I just love winter the most & these are some great ways to get prepared to it. I definitely love blankets & then lighting up those candles as a sign of autumn to make it all so much fun & exciting.

  16. Great tips, I always use blankets and candles to make the house feel cosy. I’m looking forward to winter now, watching movies under my blanket in my onesie.

  17. I find candles to be a huge deal for a cozy home in the winter and fall months. That and blankets, socks and hot chocolate/tea time at home!

  18. I love blankets, cuddling up on the sofa with a blanket and a movie is just great in the cold weather. Have to forgo the candles though as my daughter wouldn’t leave them alone!

  19. I love this time of year for the exact reason that you can get your home all nice and cost for the darker days ahead.

    There’s nothing better than of an evening to cuddle up under lots of blankets, with a good book and some gorgeous soft lighting (although nowadays we have to wait for our little ones bedtime!).

    Like a few others have mentioned a hot water bottle is another essential for me.

  20. This is probably my favourite time of year, collecting logs for the woodburner and making firelighters. I like to add a few extra books to the shelf, a new hot water bottle and a couple of candles. Fairylights are a must, they really cheer up a dark corner.

  21. I love seasonal posts and I really want a warm crackling fire by my bedside now! A good book and a warm fire is a great way of staying cosy for autumn.

  24. This post makes me super excited for Autumn to come. Cosy nights in with the biggest mug of hot chocolate with marshmallows and cream. It makes me miss my old house that came with a log fire though 🙁 i hope I can do more reading because i have sucked on the reading scale this Summer.

  25. By the time we get home from our holiday autumn will have set in properly. Sitting in front of the log burner with a quilt I’ve made wrapped around me will feel cosy and warm, but I will still be looking forward to next summer.

  32. I am such an Autumn/Winter person, which is probably just as well given where we have lived! Today we had our first lot of snow at the top of the Bavarian Alps, and I was sooo pleased! 😀
