5 ways to cosy up your home for Autumn
While I’m still hoping that summer might arrive, the truth is it is now September, the nights are really starting to draw in and it’s starting to feel just a little bit nippy of an evening; so while it is still warm enough to think about it without it being a quick it’s so cold job, it is a good time to start cosying up your home, ready for the winter and here are 5 tips for getting your home winter ready.
1. Fairy Lights.
Twinkle Twinkle little lights, how you make the room look nice. I’m not a huge fan of harsh lighting and adding touches like fairy lights can help make a softer ambience around the room.
2. Blankets.
We all know our gas and electric bills go up in winter thanks to needing the heating on, but try and keep it off for as long as you can by donning extra layers and treating yourself to a nice blanket or two. They are just perfect for snuggling under while you watch a film or catch up on a good book as well.
3. A new table.
When it comes to winter I always love having a cup of tea, a book and perhaps a lamp nearby and to be honest with you my side tables are looking a little dodgy so I could just imagine upgrading to a beautiful oak table to hold all my must have goodies close by.
4. Candles.
While fairy lights help start bring a softer light to the room, this can be added to by the addition of candles, which not only help with a little bit of light but can also bring a wonderful scent and warm to the room. A favourite of mine when it comes to autumn is Fireside Treats by Yankee Candles.
5. A warm crackling fire.
Ok this one is probably an in my dreams one, but I would adore an open fire, the sounds, smells and warmth, I’m not sure anything can quite compare to that.
So that’s my five ideas, but what about you, how are you looking to get your home cosy of winter?

Putting the super thick feather duvet back on the bed, I love the noise it makes – it does feel like I’ve only just put it away though!
Autumn is my favourite month! I love settling down in the warm with a nice candle glistening with rubbish TV on 🙂
I love these ideas, they’re so easy to do and will make a big difference once the colder nights arrive and I don’t fancy going for a walk with the little ones!!

Candles and snuggly blankets all the way! I love Autumn 🙂
I really dislike being hot. So if I do feel on the cool side, blankets are a win for me x
I love blankets, cuddling up on the sofa with a blanket and a movie is just great in the cold weather. Have to forgo the candles though as my daughter wouldn’t leave them alone!

I love this time of year for the exact reason that you can get your home all nice and cost for the darker days ahead.
There’s nothing better than of an evening to cuddle up under lots of blankets, with a good book and some gorgeous soft lighting (although nowadays we have to wait for our little ones bedtime!).
Like a few others have mentioned a hot water bottle is another essential for me.

This is probably my favourite time of year, collecting logs for the woodburner and making firelighters. I like to add a few extra books to the shelf, a new hot water bottle and a couple of candles. Fairylights are a must, they really cheer up a dark corner.
I love seasonal posts and I really want a warm crackling fire by my bedside now! A good book and a warm fire is a great way of staying cosy for autumn.
I love candles and blankets! I love snuggling up on the couch with a good book. Scented candles are also so nice during cold nippy weather.

I LOVE the idea of the fairy lights! So simple, but effective. I wish I could have a fire in my little flat, but alas no. But there’s always crackling fire videos on youtube lol 🙂
This post makes me super excited for Autumn to come. Cosy nights in with the biggest mug of hot chocolate with marshmallows and cream. It makes me miss my old house that came with a log fire though 🙁 i hope I can do more reading because i have sucked on the reading scale this Summer.
I’m really looking forward to the fire being lit at home! x
By the time we get home from our holiday autumn will have set in properly. Sitting in front of the log burner with a quilt I’ve made wrapped around me will feel cosy and warm, but I will still be looking forward to next summer.
Just starting to think about this – the heating has come on a few times lately.
I NEEEEEED more fairy lights! And some snuggly blankets!!
