When a John Lewis washer dryer changes your life
You’re probably sat wondering how the John Lewis washer dryer could change your life. So let me explain. Each morning when I wake up I have to carefully judge what I do each day. If I decide to wash up, it means I can’t do the washing, and that is on a good day. Some days just getting up and dressed and to the living room has me out for the count for the rest of the day.
So you see a John Lewis washer dryer combo has really helped me. I no longer need to worry about getting clothes into the washing machine, then out on the line, keeping an eye on the weather to make sure it doesn’t rain, bringing it all in and hanging it up inside and then when it’s finally dry (it takes forever to dry your clothes, doesn’t it?!) folding it and putting it away. Oh no, now I simply pop it all in the tumble dryer, set it up and out it comes; completely dry and ready to be folded and put away.
To be honest with you I was surprised by the difference it has made and so all I can say is a million thank yous to John Lewis & Partners who gave me the John Lewis JLWD1612 Washer Dryer for review.
The John Lewis JLWD1612 Washer Dryer offers drum washing capacity of 8kg load and 6kg when it comes to drying load capacity and with two of us in the home we have found this is more than enough room for us. There are 16 different wash programme options which include delicates, quick wash, cotton and synthetic, and wool options. It has a 1600rpm spin speed setting and uses 5.44kWh when set to wash, spin and dry (1.04kWh for just washing and spinning) meaning it is very energy efficient and has an A energy rating.
The quick wash options are the best if you’re doing the washing in more of a rush. Some of the quickest cycles take just 28 minutes.
John Lewis really makes replacing your washing machine easy. As well as delivery they also offer water connection for £25 and disposal of your old washer for £9. You get to pick a delivery day to suit you and then, not long before your delivery drivers arrive, you receive a call saying they are on their way, which means you can go about your day as needed, until they are ready.
Installation took around 30 minutes and I was surprised when they even took away the wrappings for the new machine. I am so used to companies leaving that for you to deal with.
I have to admit that after they had left and I looked at the booklet I was a little apprehensive on just how complicated the washer might be to operate. The screen display looked very full and busy. But in reality once I got my head around it, it was really simple.
It actually works in two parts. The first is the dial. This is simply turned to the type of wash and dry cycle you would like to do.
Secondly, you set the finer details by using the button around the easy to read LED screen.
You simply push the button under the selection you wish to change and keep an eye on the screen until what you want is shown. The above picture shows it part way through a synthetic wash at 40 degrees with a 1400 rpm spin cycle, plus a timed dry. To be honest I find the only things I really need to switch are the temperature and the washing times.
When it comes to running noise, I personally find it a very quiet machine. However, it isn’t silent by any means and of course the more you pop in it, the more you can hear it. However, compared to our old machine where we would need to close the lounge through kitchen door, just to try and hear the TV while it was running. it’s fantastic.
The machine tells you the washing cycle has finished by beeping three times. This is then followed a little while later by the door unlocking and if you don’t go and switch it off yourself, the machine turns itself off which is a great energy saver.
We assumed that we would see a difference in our electric bill, but with the first month’s bill in, it hasn’t made a noticeable difference which I think is fantastic news.
The JLWD1612 Washer Dryer available from John Lewis and costs £599. For me, at least, it has been worth an untold amount as it really helps me in everyday life. It has made such a difference.
If you are wondering about getting a washer dryer for yourself I really do suggest looking at this one and reading the John Lewis washing machine reviews. Once again John Lewis thank you – you have really made a difference to my life.

Is it wrong to covet some one elses washing machine and dryer. I so need a new one this looks awesome.
Wow I have never heard of John Lewis but this sounds like a great washer/dryer!
Our dryer is going on 8 years! As for our washer we’ve had to change it over 4 times lol Would be nice to get new washer and dryers when we do move!
I am loving this! Right now I have an older style washer and dryer. One of the things I plan to buy myself when I move is a fancy smancy new washer and dryer. Stainless steal would be nice, but I’m opting for a red set too just in case.
As much laundry as most moms do, I can see how having the right washer and dry can be a big deal.
I use to have a horrible dryer that took forver so I would have to hang stuff. It is so nice to now have a working dryer.
This would be an amazing washer and dryer to have. I am looking to replace my set. I will be going to take a look at these.
I do own a washer and dryer.. and I have also been in situations where the apartments I lived in didn’t have hook ups and I had to use a laundry mat. It is so inconveniencing. I love being able to do laundry at my own convenience.
Wow – I do like this washer / dryer – ours is old and the repairman a couple years back said to keep it as long as we could – but, soon maybe we’ll be checking out your ideas for the John Lewis brand – sounds fab! Thank you for your review – I like it!
This kit is so great. I am in the market for a smart washer and dryer.
WOW! A 2-in-1 product, that is great! I still have them separate. This would be great for those with studio apartments and very limited space. Great review.
I would love a washer/dryer. I would love to only go out there once per load. It would be easier on my back too.
