Shutters for Summer
There are so many ways to make a house your home, but I have always been a little obsessed with window coverings – they help cover such a prominent place in a room, that it seems only right you can choose to cover them as you want, in some of the most wonderful and sometimes alternative ways you wish.
One way I have never used myself, but the more I look at fall in love with, is window shutters, despite my first thoughts they actually seem a lot more versatile than I assumed they would be, offering a the ability to let light into your home, while still keeping an certain amount of privacy in case your windows are in a position that can be easily looked into.
They can even be made of a multitude of different materials including premium woods right down to waterproof materials, allowing them to be placed in any room you fancy, you can even choose how they open and close – allowing you to really personalise them to suit your home.
One of the great things about looking at buying shutters is your main decision is what you want to have the shutters made from, as that makes the greatest of impacts on how much your shutters will cost you, of course there is a difference in colourings and how you can hang your shutters throughout the ranges and some are best used in different rooms, but over all you won’t be too confused over which shutter is the best buy for you.
Of course if you aren’t sure what would work best for you in the long run, you can always call in the experts, such as the people over at Window Shutters Direct, who work in partnership with Hillarys to help bring you the best for your home.
Do you have shutters in your home, or would you consider buying them for your home?

I always wanted shutters but apparently my windows are the wrong design (whatever that means) and I can’t have them xx
I love shutters, ideal for having as much or little Sunlight as required
I love wooden shutters. In a previous house we had them in our bedroom, and I loved the look.
We have non-functional shutters on the outside of the house. They look nice, but I’d like functional better. 🙂
We are renting now so no plans on getting them here but when we move into our own home I would love to get shutters for some of the rooms. There is something so relaxing about the sun coming through shutters! =)
We have shutters on all of our lower level rooms. Our windows are long and narrow and curtains just didn’t look right.
I really love the look of shutters in Kitchens for some reason I just don’t feel like a kitchen is complete with out shutters
Shutters look so much classier than shades!
I love window shutters, we just put an offer in on a house and part of my attraction was the shutters. Depending on your tastes and the style of your home, they can really look nice. They also block out a lot of light/heat/cold and last longer than other window coverings.
Shutters are perfect for the summer time, they let in that beautiful rays of sunlight into the room perfectly.
I couldn’t help but smile at perspective reading your post. Shutters for us are really equivalent to hurricanes. And we are starting our season!
I personally love shutters! I wish I could afford them for every window in my home.
Oh yes, I LOVE shutters like this! I’ll bet they would keep the hot Florida sun out of our house! I do have one more room that needs window dressings – this is a good idea! Thank you!
I don’t have any shutters in my house, but my parents have some on their windows and I love them.
I have realized this month, as I redecorated my living room, that window treatments really do add a lot to a room. I shopped around quite a bit for the ones I eventually put up.
I love these pics, especially the second one… Well, I have shutters and they’re in a dark wood not to let the light in while I’m sleeping 🙂 I do not like that kind of shutters that reflects on the walls those “lines” of lights in the early morning..
xx Elena
I used to have shutters in my old home but not here.I would love to have them again one day.I really like wooden ones.
We used to have shutters in our part of our home.. they were so expensive for the pure wooden ones.. BUT they were gorgeous! Now that we live in our old (new to us) home we don’t have them .. yet..
