SpecsPost – A Great Way to Try Glasses
I have to admit I’ve always been envious of those who can easily buy glasses online – it seemed like, quite often, a cheaper alternative than buying them from your local store – I have one major setback though when it comes to glasses I find many pairs just so uncomfortable; from the arms not being comfortable behind my ears (even after being fitted) to seeing the frame in my vision too much – I really am a fussy so and so. So when SpecsPost got in contact about their try before you buy scheme I really was interested to know more.
SpecsPost allows you to ‘try’ up to 3 pairs of glasses at home for 7 days – they take a 50% deposit on the cost of your chosen pairs and then pop them into the post for you to test wear, of course, once you have tried and returned them, you receive your deposit back and you can, of course, go on to buy your chosen frames with the price of standard lenses included in the cost of many pairs.
Once they have arrived you get to chance to really get the opinions of those who matter to you from your other half to best friend as well as getting to really test the feel and versatility of them in your own home, as do you ever really get a true feel as you rush through the pairs in the shop?

Having worn the same style for years, just buying a new pair of the exact same frame, I decided I wouldn’t make too much of a change with my choices and go more for colour differences than anything else and went for a purple pair, black pair and then the bottom pair of pineapple glasses which are semi-rimless. After the initial reaction from both me and Ash that the Pineapple Glasses were the best we soon came to realise that in fact, that was just because they looked the most similar and in reality we ended up agreeing on the lovely Apollo black frames were the ones we loved most, and while the beautiful purple Dee are a lovely frame they happen to be slightly too big for my face.
The process of trying glasses, really opened my eyes to just how having a few days with a selection of frames can really change your mind on what is right for you – I guess I’ve always thought of buying glasses as something that just has to be done to help me see, when in fact it could be more fun and allow me to express myself more.
If you’re thinking of buying glasses and have trouble working out if that frame really will do the job for you, I can completely recommend taking your time looking through the virtual shelves of SpecsPost then trying some out before you commit to buying giving you the peace of mind of knowing your new specs will be comfortable on you.
What do you think of the idea of SpecsPost, do you like the idea of trying frames before you buy?

*I received my one favourite pair made up in the correct prescription in return for this post.

I have just had an eye test this morning and my prescription has changed again which means new lenses. Last time I just changed the lenses but I do need to change the Frame.
I ended buying the same pair in a different colour because I was by myself and I just wanted to get out of there really.
I will absolutely look into buying online, the only thing that puts me off, is repairs. Because my optician is a 5 minute walk away if something breaks I can get it sorted really quick, and im pretty blind without my glasses!
Sounds like a good idea and one that deserves to succeed
What a great idea.
I love the different the designs.
I have such difficulty finding frames that fit my face well.. it used to be worse before I got my nose fixed bc they would end up in a slant. I have a small round face and for some reason most glasses will look huge on me. I’ll take a look at specspost!
I totally need a new pair of glasses! What a good way to check out frames.
I used to work in an eye doctor so I am a little skeptical of this service, but if it works… awesome! I like the black frames you were sent!
I haven’t bought glasses in years but these look great!
I have to say I really like how you get to try frames out with SpecsPost. Would definitely help to decide if you want to buy or not.
That is a really great idea. It would be nice to try out frames for a few days before you really have to make up you mind. A few minutes in the office looking at them is really not enough.
I buy mine locally but I have progressives, so that’s why. Those frames are cute though!
I need new glasses and I was looking at switching to frames that look like that. would be nice to try before buying.
It sounds like a great place to get your glasses!
For those that wear single vision lenses, purchasing online is a great option! I love being able to try them on a head of time!
These glasses seems great. I like the 2nd and last one, hihi!
I have never seen it where they let you try them for a while, love that idea. I need to get new ones bu tha ve to have my eyes checked first.
What a smart idea. I like the fact you can try on glasses. Sometimes a pair will fit in the store and then not be good when you get home. Very smart glasses.
I love this idea! I bought my last pair of glasses on line (bright red ones) and they turned out okay, but the idea of being able to try 3 different styles is great. Do they fit the correct lenses in each pair? That’s the part that seems a little wasteful to me, but still I love the idea.
I have had such trouble buying glasses online-and I have only attempted sunglasses! I definitely like that you can try them first as the fit is where I’ve had my biggest problem
Those frames are so cute. I have a hard time finding glasses that I will actually wear!
I seriously love that you can try out the glasses first. That is my biggest fear of ordering glasses online, what if they don’t look good on me? This would totally solve that issue!
These frames are really nice.Indeed a nice review.
look great and very stylish, my mum needs some new glasses, I’ll send her your review
I always buy my glasses online and clearly they have a lot of cute frames!! I will need to check them out!
