5 Ways to Make Your Home Autumn-Ready
Autumn is coming and to be honest, I’m OK with it. Alongside Spring it has to be one of my favourite times of the year.
One of the great things about autumn is while the weather isn’t too cold, you can still get your home feeling cosy and cuddle down with some candles.
If you, like me are feeling like your time of year is coming, then perhaps you to will like these 5 ways to make your home autumn-ready.

Deep Clean.
We all know the big Spring Clean, but actually autumn is great for doing the same as well.
After all, spring is all about getting rid of those winter warmers, while autumn is all about getting ready for them.
This is also a good time to check your boiler and heating, as well as smoke and carbon monoxide alarms.
When it comes to outside, give your gutter a once over for leaves and clear it out. While the last cut of your lawn until Spring is also on the cards.
Change Your Decor.
If you own a lot of trinkets or pictures, then autumn can be a great time to change them over and give yourself some new things to look at.
You can make changing pictures simple by using a no nails fixer, keeping your walls looking great with no holes.
While the mantle place and windowsills can make for great places to change trinkets or set up autumn-themed displays.

Bring Out The Cushions and Throws.
One of my favourite things about when the weather gets a bit cooler is the fact I bring out the blankets.
There is nothing quite like being able to curl up on the sofa, with a cup of tea and a good movie and for me, autumn is the best time to do this.
One of the great things about cushions and throws as well is you can make them work with the previous tip of changing your decor. They can really bring colour and style to a room.
Set The Atmosphere with Scents.
When it comes to autumn I love bringing in scents like apple and cinnamon.
Of course, candles are great for setting a mood in a room thanks to the light they let off as well as the scent. However, they aren’t for everyone.
So things like diffusers and potpourri can be other ways to do a similar thing.

Buy a Smart Thermostat.
This one may not be for everyone, but I would not be without ours now.
It really helped bring down the heating bill over the first winter we had it, as it gave us so much more control over how warm we wanted the place.
It also means that when we are away we can lower the amount of heating we have on, but still keep a close eye on it being warm enough for Sock.
So there you have some ideas on 5 ways to make your home autumn-ready, I really hope they are useful for you!
Do you have anything you do in the lead up to autumn which you think I have missed from this list?

Most definitely it is really starting to cool here and the rain is coming down.
I always mourn the end of summer, as you cannot just fling open the windows and doors to get some fresh air. We always invest in scented candles
I have to admit I leave the windows open most of the year-round, I hate not having them open.
There are some fab tips here. A deep clean is always a good idea and the throws cushions etc make a home much more snug xx
Most definitely I think as the seasons change a deep clean is always in order.
I have been in denial that summer is over, but for now I am clinging to the fact we still have warm weather! I’ll have to start doing some of these things soon.
It has been awful here the past week or so – rain and dreary yuck!
Autumn is my favorite season. I have a lot to do to get our house ready for it. In addition to all the things you mentioned, we have to put some storm windows back on the house.
Good luck with getting your home ready for the seasons that are coming.
Oh, I’m so ready for fall. I love to decorate but usually find myself in decluttering so I can make room for my decorations.
I think it is a great reason to declutter – I could do with changing some of the things here for sure.
It’s so fun to get ready for the new season! I love buying new throw pillows, picking up fresh new Halloween and fall decor, and making seasonal drinks and treats!
I am so with you – I need to look at getting some new rugs as we have none down at the moment and I’m sure the floor will be cold come winter.
It’s about time our family does a deep clean – it’s been over a month and I can really see the difference when we don’t do it. I am so excited for the fall season and love all of these tips in getting autumn ready.
You feel better for one don’t you? Or I always do anyway.

Yes to all of these, the Autumn time is the perfect time to bust candles out which otherwise wouldn’t be burnt. And a good old blanket is much needed x
I love a good candle I need to get buying some more soon for sure.
We just set the central heating thermostat ready for winter and this year I’ve decided to set it a bit lower to save on gas.

I would definitely add to change your smoke detector batteries. I always change mine in Spring and Fall.
That is a must isn’t it! We should all have a plan to check those regularly.

I love getting ready for Fall! I too treat it as if I’m spring cleaning. We as a family love decorating the house for the season, then into Halloween. It’s such a fun time of year for us!
It is definitely one of my favourite times of years, so much you can do around the home to make it feel amazing.
Fall is one of my favorite times of year because the windows get to be open for a little while you get to smell the crispness in the air. I do need to do a deep clean before the winter in check my carbon monoxide detectors. This was a great idea.
That is so true, I hadn’t thought about that. There is an amazing smell in the air!
I’ve started to bring out my fall decor! I do have blankets and some awesome pumpkin candles. I also have a crunchy leaf one. I love to have them going even though it’s still in the 90s.
Oh that sounds amazing, I bet those pumpkin candles smell absolutely amazing as well!
Brilliant ideas, thank you! Xx
I put out my coziest stuff in the fall like furry pillows and blankets because it is truly cuddling season!

Me too – I absolutely need to get scrubbing lol.
Ah this makes me feel so ready for autumn. I’ve already got my cosy blankets out!
Not strictly home related, but the one other thing I do is swap out my summer clothes for winter clothes. I have a big box of jumpers just waiting to be worn again.
That is so true I forgot about that, I love the cosy jumpers of winter!
I would love some of those great candles and scents. Autumn is a good time to clean out the house and avoiding unsightly holes in the wall is a great idea.
