5 Storage Solutions to Make You Extra Room
I often think it doesn’t matter where you live or work, you never seem to have enough space, there always seems to be those little bits that creep in, to take up any empty spaces.
So here are some of the ideas I’ve come up with to give you a bit more space, right when you need it.

Invest in Shelving.
If you have some spare wall space or even a shed which could do with some extra storage solutions, then adding in some shelving options might work.
There are a whole host of shelving solutions out there on the market. However, they don’t have to cost a fortune and they can be simple to set up.
Some can even hold up heavy loads if needed.
Wicker Storage Crates
One thing I’ve learnt is wicker storage crates can really help offer extra storage space.
They fit in the small spaces that normally end up being where you pile things.
However, they look so much nicer and can add to a feeling of more neatness and organisation within the room.

Have a Clear Out
This one can take time, so set yourself a time limit and do it little by little.
Go through things and decide what you want to keep, what you could donate to charity and what you could sell.
You might just be surprised by how much room you make.

Rent a Storage unit
This one probably isn’t practical for everyone but if you find yourself overflowing and you have things you won’t need any time soon but really can’t face getting rid of them forever.
Then renting a storage unit might help you in the short term gain some extra room there are many different storage rental facilities on the market uich as storage options from Safestore, while you could also look into locations such as “Warehousing Preston“. However, if you think a self-storage unit is too costly, you may also choose to rent a garage to store your stuff.
Under Bed Storage
If you have room under your bed then using under bed storage could help you neatly store away things.
Take for instance your seasonal clothing, if you use some vacuum storage bags to take down the size a little, then pack them into the storage you will have a whole lot more room in your wardrobe.
Do you have a top tip for storage solutions to make you extra room?

It is so annoying isn’t it? I’m sure I grow into all the room.
This is giving me good ideas. I’ve been decluttering, but I’m now down to needing to do more, but don’t want to get rid of most of what I still need to do something with. Glad I found this before letting go of what I have left that I didn’t want to let go of!
Good luck with your decluttering it can be so hard at times getting things down can’t it?
Decluttering is so theraputic aswel! I love wicker baskets, the natural material goes with all decor
It really can be I often feel great after I’ve got rid of the clutter!

I agree with this – the bungalow has nothing but a larder and what would have once been the hot water tank cupboard, but with an upgraded boiler has some space in it and that’s it.
I think my solution is to have a good clear out and a trip to the charity shop x
I definitely need to do that – it really makes a difference.
Great ideas. I’m always looking for tips to declutter, especially at Christmas time x
I definitely need to get decluttering for sure!
This is definitely something that I needed to read about. Quite helpful since I’m planning on making extra room since it’s getting full of other items.
It is so hard when you start filling up with bits isn’t it?
I love this post. I hate clutter so sometimes find it difficult to know how to hide it stylishly. Thanks for all of the great ideas.
Honestly, I am as well! I do struggle as I like to collect things.
Great ideas, need to find a bit more space to store my football programmes
Ash collects comics it would be great to have somewhere to keep them flat.
Great tips here. I always strupgle with storage.
I really have to be determined and not put back what Ive decluttered.
I need to 100% do the same, or buy things to take their place.
I live in a flat with ample storage but over the years I’ve filled that up too.i really need to get organized and I love the idea of shelves.great tip
It is one of those things I think we all end up filling up the space we have.
Great tips, we added coloured crates to our garage this year so we can see at a glance what they hold. Orange for Halloween, Red for Christmas etc.
Ohh that’s a good idea! So organised as well.
We always seem to be short of storage, I think it’ll be time for a big clear out after Christmas.
Good luck with your clear out if you go for it!
I’m going to tackle our storage issues after Christmas, so thank you for the tips!
Good luck – it seems like a lot of people are thinking of tackling them after Christmas.
We live in such a small house, that storage is such a struggle. I use all hiding places that I can, like under beds and behind doors.
We are the same here, I thought moving to a bungalow we would have more room, but nope less lol.
I always think having a good clear out is a great starting point and then to work from there. Under bed storage is an ace idea xx
I really need to look at having a good clear out I think it would make such a difference.
I am lucky to have a storage unit for my flat so I keep in there all the things that I am not using that often. The shelves are so useful and they make organising the space so much easier.
Oh that is awesome I bet it is so good to have some extra storage space just for you.
I could really do with a garage or a storage unit. I do keep clearing out stuff but it always seems to build up again
It would be such a help wouldn’t it? I would love to have a garage I have to admit.
I love the wicker storage crates. They take unsightly things and instantly make them nice and neat looking.
They are nice to look at aren’t they! It makes sense to have something like that.
It’s so important to get your storage solutions right. It can cost a bit but it’s worth it. We don’t have a loft and have to be very creative. Mich X
We have a loft but there’s no boards down or anything I really need to think about doing that to give us some more room.
I really love wicker baskets to store things in, they look so pretty. I also love big white solid bookcases!
They are such a great idea to have around the home and they do offer such a great space to store things.
Good Tips I like the wicker baskets for storing stuff they look nice. I have under bed storage those vacuum seal bags are pretty good for big bulky bedding
They are amazing how far they can take down the size of things aren’t they?
Our under-bed storage has helped loads with putting bulky things in like bedding (& hiding Xmas presents as the kids don’t know the bed has drawers lol). I’m thinking of buying an Ottoman for even more room!
It is amazing how you can use things like ottomans for storage and they can be dual purpose – always useful.
I agree we never have enough storage, although underbed storage has helped and my husband built wall to ceiling shelving along one of our walls and that has made a huge difference
It seems to be no matter how much you have you can always fill it and then need more.
We really need to work out the storage in our new house, I feel like we just don’t have enough space for everything. I really feel like we need to have a massive declutter
I always feel the same, it doesn’t help that at the moment, we’ve had to empty out the wardrobe everywhere lol.
These are all great tips. I do love under bed storage. It’ a great way to keep items hidden away to avoid making rooms look cluttered.
They are great aren’t they – love that you can get ones on wheels.
Some great ideas here. My daughter keeps saying that I have too much “stuff”
I definitely have too much stuff – it’s hard to cut down though.
I really love the wicker basket idea. I think what makes our house look messy is the clutter. Wicker baskets eliminate the cluttered look and is pleasing to the eye.
It’s the same here, we just seem to accumulate things, at least with the baskets there’s somewhere to put things.
I’ve never thought about a storage unit before but I would forget what was in there & probably go & buy an item I already have in storage!
I can definitely see that being an issue for people who get one, you would have to have an inventory or something I guess.
Yes, starting by having a good clear out is both therapeutic and wise. I select a charity shop that helps a cause close to my heart so it makes it easier to part with items to donate that are suitable for resale.
I really need to have a good clear out I can be such a hoarder at times.
Great tips! I really want to look into more under bed storage, sounds like a good idea!
Anika
It is great, look for ones with wheels on they make it so much easier.
We are really trying to cut down on the clutter and find storage solutions! Under bed storage is always really useful
It is great, make sure it doesn’t fill all the area so air can still circulate a little 🙂
