5 Reasons to Visit Spain (Especially Madrid)

After all, Madrid has been named one of the trendiest locations to visit for 2024, meaning you really could make sure you are ahead of the crowd by visiting this location full of culture, food, history and more.

However, if you need more convincing here are 5 reasons to visit Spain.

Beautiful Landscapes.

While Spain is most definitely known for its beautiful beaches, it doesn’t have to be those that draw you to this stunning country.

From its mountains to the fact that it is home to Europe’s only desert, plus you can even go skiing in Europe’s most southern ski resort; Sierra Nevada. Spain really does offer a diverse landscape, which is perfect for exploring.

Food.

One thing you have to do when visiting Spain is try out the cuisine!

Spanish food is known for being tasty, healthy and full of flavour and there will be a whole host of places to try it out. From Michelin-starred restaurants to tapas bars and small-town cafés to restaurants.

I’m sure we have all seen the photos of La Tomatina, the tomato-throwing festival in Buñol. Well, why not go and experience it for yourself? Or perhaps the annual wine-drenching festival of La Rioja is more up your street.

While visiting Madrid it is well worth taking day trips out to El Escorial where the royal family of Spain once lived. While Toledo and Segovia are full of history with a mix of castles and cathedrals with food a “must look into” between these locations.

With a rich history behind it, no matter if you decide to visit the lights of Madrid or the cobbles of one of the rugged hillside villages you are going to be surrounded by arts and culture.

UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

Spain has 45 UNESCO World Heritage Sites to visit. In Madrid, you will find the Puerta de Alcalá which is a neo-classical gate. While nearby is the Monastery and Site of the Escurial, which was built at the end of the 16th century. Offering breathtaking architecture, this royal site is well worth finding the time to visit.

Other locations include the ancient cave paintings at the Cave of Altamira, the Roman aqueduct in Segovia, the Tower of Hercules at La Coruña harbour, The Alhambra and the Historic City of Toledo to name just a few.
