5 Must Watch Movies for Easter 2023
How can it almost be Easter?
Where exactly has this year gone?
At the moment, Ash and I are really enjoying re-watching some old TV and film favourites while dreaming of having something like the Viera 4K TV to watch them on. Honestly, you have to see these 4K TVs working. WOW, the difference.
So in the spirit of Easter, I thought I would come up with some Easter (or rabbit) related ideas.
Hop
Ash brought me this as a silly Easter gift a few years ago now.
It is one of those movies I put on when I’m in the mood for something completely over the top and sickly sweet.
It tells the story of EB, the bunny who is next in line to be the Easter Bunny. However, he wants to be anything but the barer of chocolate eggs, so he runs away to Hollywood to live his dream of being a rock and roll drummer.
Springtime with Roo
This film tells the story of all our 100 Acre favourites heading off to Rabbit’s house to celebrate Easter.
However, Rabbit has other ideas.
Rabbit has made up the Spring Cleaning Day celebration and sets our favourite friends up to do a spot of cleaning.
Of course, nothing quite goes to plan, and they are all left trying to remind Rabbit of how fun Easter can be.
Rise of the Guardians
This film isn’t based on Easter (sorry).
However, it does feature the Easter Bunny and all of those other childhood figures we know and love, such as Santa, The Tooth Fairy, and Jack Frost.
In this film, they are fighting the evil Pitch Black, who wants to engulf the world in darkness.
Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit
Ok, so I may be really pushing it here, but it includes lots of rabbits, and I am such a fan of Wallace & Gromit.
They were definitely a big part of my childhood!
This escapade involves lots of rabbits, a huge were-rabbit, and Wallace trying to win the heart of Lady Tottington, for whom they are performing a pest control service. What more could you want? Cheese?
Jesus Christ Superstar
This rock opera musical by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice is completely sung from start to finish.
It is loosely based on the Gospels’ accounts of the last weeks of Jesus’ life.
However, it also takes on its own ideas about the political and interpersonal struggles between Jesus and Judas. While it won’t be for everyone, it is definitely worth a try for some.

Hop and Rise of the Guardians were on our Easter watching list as well! There’s a claymation Easter Bunny is Coming to Town that Is great as well.

Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit, I love watching it with the kids they laugh like hell at it 🙂
I already saw Hop and it is so funny! It actually make me thinking about how that world of secrets bunnies and little chicken could actually be.
I love Rise of the Guardians! I need to watch it again with the kids. That and Easter Parade.

I’m not much of a movie person, it’s too much of a time commitment for me. I like TV shows because most are under 45 minutes. I just started re-watching Downton Abbey from the beginning, so that’s what I’ll be watching this weekend 🙂

Hop is so funny it’s my kids fav for easter movies. Didn’t know there were others actaully doesn’t seem to be a big holiday
Easter is always a great time to spend some time together with your family & we do have Movie nights every year to make it special. These are some great movies to watch & I would love watching Jesus Christ Superstar another time.
I cannot believe I have not see even a single movie from the list. Looks like I will have to catch-up during Spring break.
We do not have any specific Easter movies in mind, but may find ourselves watching one if we happen upon it.
0 of 5! How embarrassing, lol. I have heard about Jesus Christ Superstar and I know that my Mom loves that film a lot. I just don’t remember if I have seen it. I do know the songs from that film though.
I think it has some songs that everyone must have heard at some point. Definitely give some a watch if they take your fancy 😉 x

My favourite Easter film is Hop, I just love it. Never heard of the second one you mentioned, will have to keep an eye out for that

Out of these movies I’ve only seen Hop but I can’t remember much of it haha I might have to have a movie marathon weekend!!

I don’t think I have decided what to watch over Easter but your list is something I will keep in mind.
I have not watched any of those movies and highly unlikely that I will watch any of them for the Easter…..this is a great list anyway as I have heard good things about them

Passion of Christ is my favorite Easter movie. I like movies that point to what Easter is all about!
The only movie I’ve seen out of these is Hop. So I will for sure have to check out the other ones!

I have not see any of these movies so my options are wide open with your suggestions. I will have to mention these to my husband and see which one we would both like. We do have a 4K TV and it really enhances the experience.
Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit is what I always think of if I’m thinking of rabbits in films! It was giant, no way you could forget that!
I’ve never watched any of these films! I’ve seen Hop talked about before so I might try and sit the children down to watch it.

That Wallace & Gromitt movie is an absolute classic. How old is it now do you know?
The Curse of the Were-Rabbit was 2005, can’t believe its been so long, A Grand Day Out however was first aired in 1990 and took 6 years to make for a 1/2 hour show.
i have never heard or seen any of these! I need to check them out.

Springtime with Roo is the only movie on this list that we don’t watch at Easter time. Or favorite though, is the Bernstein Beats Easter Special. I’ve been watching it since I was a kid, and my kids love it now. I’ve even caught my husband singing the songs while he’s working around the house.
These are some good recommendations. We have to check out Hop and Rise of the Guardians. They look cute.
I love Rise of the Guardians and watched it quite a few times. I’d almost forgotten about it for this Easter. Madison hasn’t seen it so we may be watching it this weekend. Great list of movie suggestions.

I’m not really a movie person. I’d much rather read a book, but my husband enjoys watching movies with the kids.

Watership Down…No, far too sad for Easter. I’ll probably catch up on some vlogs and indulge in some Netflix sessions 🙂
