5 Must Visit Places in the US
There is so much to do and see out there in the world, sometimes it is hard to know quite where to visit next isn’t it?
Choosing your next travel destination is always a fun activity. However, it is also something that needs thought and research, such as remembering your ESTA application if you are heading to the US.
While none of us has the exact same ideas on our travel bucket lists. I thought I would share 5 must-visit places in the USA, for me anyway.
Getting Prepared.
One thing to make sure you do before you head off on a holiday is to make sure you are prepared.
Check into the local weather at the time of year you are heading and remember to pack for all events. Just as the weather is mostly one way, it’s a good idea to have a cover-up to keep you dry and shielded from the wind just in case.
Things like plug adaptors if need, plus luggage tags and maps of the area, can all be useful too.
Of course, then comes your ESTA. It is well worth applying for an ESTA if you are heading to the US, they are cheaper to buy, easier to apply for and often come through in as little as 24 hours.
However, if you don’t qualify for an ESTA, you can also look at a US Visa, so all is not lost!

Grand Canyon.
Somewhere which has always caught my attention is the Grand Canyon. It is said to have some of the most awe-inspiring views in the US after all.
This beautiful national park is based in Arizona and has a whole host of things to do and see.
From hiking (paths such as the Bright Angel and North Kaibab trails offer beautiful views.) to rafting and camping, there is something for everyone no matter what pursuits they would most like to try out.
It is worth noting that you can even camp around the edges of the Grand Canyon, while a number of lodges are available to book as well. However, these are booked out well in advance so make sure you get yourself booked in ASAP if this is something you would like to do.
Aspen.
Perhaps one of the most well-known ski resorts in the world Aspen is a must for everyone who likes heading down the slopes.
Aspen is located in Colorado and as well as having 4 mountains to choose from, it offers a luxury shopping culture.
Allowing you to pick from high-end boutiques and trendy restaurants to explore between heading down the slopes.
Aspen allows for skiers and snowboarders of any skill level, allowing you to learn or hone your skills more in this beautiful landscape.

New York.
Perhaps one of the most diverse places in the US the Big Apple has so much to offer.
From world-renowned museums and art galleries to Broadway shows and Central Park. There is so much to do and see within New York and this only scrapes the surface.
When it comes to mealtimes you will be spoilt for choice, with so many different eateries to choose from.
Don’t forget to visit Times Square and make your way across Brooklyn Bridge before heading out to see the Statue of Liberty.
Your only issue might be finding the time to fit it all in.
Las Vegas.
If you are all about the nightlife then Las Vegas has to be high on your list.
Offering a city where you can do almost anything from casinos to shows, to tours of the stunning red canyon and shopping in a whole host of boutiques.
What’s more, you could head down to the Hoover Dam, or go and visit the mod museum. What’s more, if you are brave enough you could even visit the most haunted museum in the world.
The hardest decision you have might just be where do you start in this city that doesn’t sleep?

Florida.
For those young and old, Florida has something to offer.
While Florida is perhaps best known for its theme parks, after all, it is home to Disney World and Universal Studios. Two places which never seem to run out of fun.
This isn’t all it has to offer, from the stunning beaches such as Clear Water and the Florida Keys to the Kennedy Space Centre, this is a holiday location with so much to offer the whole family.
One relatively undiscovered hidden gem is the beautiful beachside town of Marco Island. Marco Island has many activities that are suitable for all types of travellers. Some of the best things to do in the area include relaxing on the picturesque beaches where you might just get the chance to see a tortoise or two freely roaming around, shelling for some of the most unique shells in Florida or taking a tour to see the amazing alien-like Cape Romano Dome Houses – an abandoned, sinking white house in the middle of the ocean.
If you want to look deeper into things to do, then natural sites such as the Florida Reef and Everglades National Park might be for you.
Of course, no matter where you head in the US there are some amazing things to do and see, these are just a few locations that come to my mind.
However, what about you, do you have a must-visit location within the US?

I’ve only been to Las Vegas. Grand Canyon is on my bucket list.
I hope you get to visit the Grand Canyon one day!
Oh I would love to visit the US. We are going to New York via cruise in July but we only get to stay there for one day so we have lots of stuff to plan for that one day. I cannot wait
Oh wow, I bet it will still be amazing going for the day I hope you enjoy it.
Good post, have done Florida but not the others – would love to go to the grand canyon!
Hands up there is so much I would love to go and see in the US.
I’ve been to Florida a couple of times, but the Grand Canyon is certainly on my wish list to visit next.
I hope you manage to make it to the Grand Canyon at some point.
I live in the states and I’ve been to none of these places. However I would always recommend someone out of the country to visit Nashville, DC, New Orleans, Dallas and Charlotte. Those have to be my favorite places I’ve been to. I once won a trip to Hawaii, that’s amazing but costly!
Oh, I will have to look into them all! Thank you.
It really is so important to get prepared well in advance. The last thing you want is something not right when you are about to leave. So hard to get things out right in little time.
You’ve named some of the classic destinations, certainly on many a bucket list. Aspen must be fabulous, would be lovely at Christmas.
I think it would be incredible to be up in the mountains in the snow over Christmas!
Great suggestions! The US is most definitely on my must do list of places to visit as there are just so many amazing places to see and things to do! My son is desperate to see the space centre and Disney lol!
I hope you manage to get to go there one day – I would love to go to Disney again one day.
I’d love to escape to New Orleans one day to experience their Mardi Gras festivities!
I hope you manage to make it to Mardi Gras one day!
We’ve only made it to Florida, and Disneyworld is a US must, but I’d love to go to New York and I have to include Boston, since I live in the original one in the UK!
I would love to go back to Disneyworld one day I have to admit.
I have never visited the us before but would love to see New York, Las Vegas and Los Angeles.
I hope you manage to get to go and see all the locations you would love to one day.
Lovely places, be great to visit Florida one day and the Grand Canyon
I hope you manage to get to go and visit them both at some point!
I use to spend a lot of my traveling to places out of the country. I definitely need to visit more places in the country. New York is on my list!
I hope you get to see more of the US the world is amazing with all the things to do and see isn’t it?
I been to many of these places. Grand Canyon has definitely been on my list because of the amazing views and something I want to see in person one day.
The views are really what I want to go for I just think it would be something you can’t really describe out loud.
Oh gosh, the Grand Canyon is HIGH up on my travel bucket list!! I need to try to plan a trip soon!!
I really hope you manage to make it to the Grand Canyon at some point!
id love to visit usa one day, new york would be my first choice
I hope you manage to make it to New York one day!
New York is definitely on my bucket list.
I’d like to visit kentucky too to visit some of the national parks.
The national parks all look absolutely incredible and it is amazing how different they all are as well.
I have always wanted to visit NYC. Grand Canyon is a fun place. I am thinking to go back there this Thanksgiving break,
Oh wow I bet it would be an interesting place to spend a Thanksgiving break – I hope you enjoy it if you go.
I am yet to visit Aspen and Florida. rest of place I have seen and I am agree with you they are must see places in US.
Oh wow it seems like you have been to some amazing places for sure.
I am in total agreement! I’ve been to all of these and loved each one. There are ones I would add but none of these would come off the list.
It is great to hear from someone who has visited them all they are as great as they seem.
I’ve been to all of these but I’d have to say the Grand Canyon was my favorite on your list. It truly is breathtaking. Another favorite trip to take is the Oregon Coast. The entire coastline is so gorgeous.
It is one place I would love to go – I fancy checking it out from above as well I’m sure flying over it would be amazing.
I’ve been to Florida and New York. They are both great in their own way! Florida is nice warm and calm ( at least where I have been ) and New York is Full of life
It’s amazing how different areas come across with their own personality of sorts isn’t it?
I have been to most of these places and they have a lot to offer! I love Yosemite and I have heard that Sedona, Arizona is a great destination if you love nature.
I definitely do I will have to look into it – I would love to see more of the US and check out some of its amazing sights.
I would love to go to Las Vegas but I know I would need a lot of spending money! I have been to New York & I really enjoyed myself , spent a fortune though! Chicago is a wonderful place to visit I went about 12 years ago for thanksgiving & we watched the maceys parade it was fantastic, the people are lovely (not like New York!) and the free zoo is incredible.
That would be probably one of my issues as well – I think I would get sucked in by the lights and well the whole things made so you spend spend spend isn’t it?
I love Aspen Colorado, actually anywhere in Colorado is beautiful. I’ve wanted to take my kids to Colorado one of these days. Hopefully, sooner rather than later. My parents always took us to Colorado and we made some great memories there.
I hope you all manage to go one day and have the most amazing time.
You have got this in one. I can see why you have chosen these destinations. I’ve been to them all except Aspen xx
They are such wonderful places aren’t they but there are so many more I could have chosen.
I have been to four out of the five and would recommend them to anyone! I would love to see The Golden Gate Bridge.
I would love to go and see the Golden Gate Bridge – there is so much more I could have added to the list for sure!
I’ve only been to New York and Florida, and I live in the US! I think Florida is a big one for overseas guests due to the warm sunny weather.
Yes! Florida is like somewhere everyone from the UK wants to go, that and New York are the main two I hear people talk about.
I don’t think that I would skip any of the places you mentioned when visiting the USA. Grand Canyon has been on my bucket list for years, and I just have to visit all the museums in New York. Looking at the fact that there are around 100 of them in the Big Apple, I would probably have to visit a few times or stay for a month 🙂
I hope you manage to get to go and see them all one by one at some point.
I have always wanted to see the Grand Canyon. That is definitely on my bucket list
It is just one of those places that I think so many people want to go to isn’t it.
I’ve never been abroad it’s flying ! Eek ! If I could I’d love to visit Florida . My daughter goes to Disneyland every other year she thinks it’s brilliant . I’ve always fancied it too
Aww, flying can be such a hard thing – it’s not natural is it to get up in a plane!
Ive never been to the US,but if i ever did,i’d love to visit new orleans x
I hope you get to go and visit one day and see what you would like.
I do love visiting the USA, we have been lucky in the fact we have family there, so havent got the added hotels etc, but there is so much to see and do, never been to Florida, but hopefully we will get there one day
Oh, that is awesome, it can save so much not having to book into hotels etc..
Florida is very high up on my wishlist as I’d love to do all the parks but also relax on the beach. New York will always have a huge space in my heart and I do agree is a must visit x
I would love to go back and do all the parks again, I Wasn’t well when I went the first time so I don’t think I really took a lot of it in.
I’m at 3/5 of these places! I’d add California to that list also, San Fransisco to Los Angeles, it really has a lot to offer!
There are so many different places to add to the list isn’t there! So many things to do and see in the US.
These are all great places to visit. To date, I have been to NY and I used to live in FL. Las Vegas is definitely a destination I plan to visit though in the near future.
I hope you manage to get to go and see LV one day and you have an amazing time while there!
The Grand Canyon is somewhere I have always wanted to visit in the US. To be fair, I have always wanted to visit the other places too!
There is so much to do and see over there isn’t there! It’s just where to start.
I live in New York and love to play tourist here because there is so much to do and see. If I get away it would have to be to the Grand Canyon.
I grew up in Oxford here in the UK and was the same, sometimes it is nice to be a tourist in your own home.
I have been to three of the five of these. Technically I’ve been to four but in Las Vegas I’ve only been to the airport LOL. I can’t wait to check out Aspen or Las Vegas.
I hope you manage to tick off the last 2 from the list at some point soon!
I’d love to go to any of these places. I’ve been to a few, but still have to get to some others. Like Last Vegas. It’s on my list!
I hope you manage to tick them all off your list at some point in the future.
