3 Best European Road Trips
Summer vacation is near and it’s time to decide how to spend it. What about a road trip? It’s fun, you manage to visit many different places, discover new cultures and taste many local dishes. Europe offers many fabulous routes to choose from. Let’s take a better look at three of them.
Norway – Starting in Bergen, you can take the via Alvik road and in around 7 hours you will arrive in Oslo. This route will allow you to drive through lovely scenic roads that showcase wide expanses of green bordered by snow-capped mountains and mystic fjords that take your breath away. Be aware of wild animals such as elks that may occasionally cross the roads. On the way back, drive on the coastal side of Kristiansand and Stavanger to see picturesque coastal towns, especially Skudeneshavn.
Tuscany – There are lots of rolling hills, beautiful hilltop towns and amazing architecture in Tuscany. You cannot miss Siena, distinguishable by its medieval brick buildings and narrow winding streets. Its Palio is one of the most visited spectacles in the area, held in Piazza del Campo twice a year. To give your vacation a little bit of glamour, you can find a luxury car rental in Siena and drive anywhere you wish in the most famous Italian Region. You will be able to taste the pecorino cheese and have a fill of wine, porcini mushrooms and regional pasta maybe in an authentic agriturismo located in the Tuscan hills. You should definitely visit also the hilltop town of Pienza, Orvieto and San Gimignano where you can drive by hills of vineyards, taste its famous white wine, Vernaccia de San Gimignano. Naturally Florence with its Renaissance wonders is an absolute must.
Eastern Europe – If you begin your trip in Bucharest and go north through the Carpathian Mountains, you will arrive in Transylvania, where you may visit the Bran Castle in search of Dracula. Then, drive on the high-altitude Transfagarasan mountain road for a chance to take beautiful photos of the scenery and of castles in Brasov and Sighisoara. You can spend a day or two in Budapest to enjoy relaxing baths and to have fun in ruin pubs. Continue your journey to Bratislava for a lesson in history, archaeology, art and architecture with a refreshing walk along the Danube to cap your day. Vienna is just an hour away where you can have a taste of the world’s best coffee and a special chocolate cake called Sachertorte.

Beautiful photos! Norway is high up on my list; as in the top 5. There is so much natural beauty there; but mostly I want to visit because of the history.

I think Norway would be my first choice. I always see pictures of the landscapes and they’re amazing.

Norway looks so colorful. That would be a great place to visit. On the other hand, Dracula’s Castle sounds pretty intriguing, too. Think I will just do them all!
