Spring Garden Ideas

With spring hopefully just around the corner, it has me looking longingly out the window into my garden. After all, it is a place that I do like spending time in. So this year, I would just love to update and upgrade it a little, making sure I use things like making the most of discount codes and getting the most for my money.
If you just so happen to be thinking along the same lines as me, here are some ideas I have been thinking of lately.
Chiminea
A chiminea has been on my list for a rather long time and is something I need to think about where it would be safe to put one and to be honest with neighbours close by, I’m not sure lighting one up is even possible.
However, there are such lovely ones out there, that it is an idea which does just keep on coming back to me. Perhaps one day I shall go for it and see what happens.
Garden Furniture
Many people have their own preferences when it comes to garden furniture, from tables and chairs to more sofa-like offers. I personally struggle to be in the sun these days, with my skin quickly becoming itchy. So I could really do with something which offers shade over it.
With that in mind, I have to admit I would quite like to invest in a garden swing seat. These offer both a comfortable and shade, the perfect mix.
However, do remember to invest in a patio seat cover for your outdoor furniture to help prolong its life and keep it clean. Alternatively, invest in garden furniture made from weatherproof material to make your furniture last.
Consider Beekeeping
Beekeeping is a fascinating hobby that can be both rewarding and beneficial to the environment. Spring is the perfect time to start a bee colony in your garden, as the weather is mild and the flowers are beginning to bloom. Before you begin, it’s important to do your research and learn about the ins and outs of beekeeping.
You will need to invest in some equipment, such as a hive, frames, and a protective beekeeping clothing. Once you have everything set up, you can start introducing bees to the hive. Over time, you will learn how to care for your bees and how to harvest honey from the hive.
Not only will beekeeping provide you with fresh, delicious honey, but it will also help pollinate your garden, resulting in a healthier and more bountiful harvest.
Flowers, Plants and Seeds
We have quite a few bedding areas around the garden and I would like to make sure they all look nice when the warmer months come around. However, I’m not very good at gardening so may need to call in some help to make this one actually successful.
Right now is a great time to be thinking about what plants and seeds you would like to sow for the upcoming season. If you are looking to start a veg patch this year for instance, March is the time to think about planting; tomatoes, cucumber, carrots, lettuce and many more popular options.
Lighting
There are some wonderful lighting options to choose from these days, from fun fairy lights to path lighting and more (in fact I have a review coming up soon of a beautiful lighted plate).
Personally, I would like to add some fairy lights around the shed this year, I think that would add a lovely look to it.

I’d like to plant salad vegetables and herbs so I can use them to make healthy meals with fresh ingredients for my children
I’d love to be able to grow swiss chard rainbow mixed! I like growing things you can eat and enjoy.
Definitely cucumber & lettuce , we use them loads especially in summer , the black cherry tomatoes look very interesting & would make a change , also carrots & kale as I’ve never tried growing them before
We use loads of peppers & chillis so would sow those first.
I don’t plant vegetables but I would love to plant the oriental poppies to provide colour in my borders
I always sow black cherry tomatoes, moneymaker and gardeners delight as well as cucumber and all year round lettuce.
Tomatoes, cucumbers and peppers as its such shortage of these. Also flowers, lots of them 🙂
I would buy a mixture of seeds – fruit and veg to eat and be more sustainable. I have my eye on the chocolate hot peppers,, family love the hot chilis. And then flower seeds for me,, I’d love to grow more flowers for my memorial garden.
The oriental poppy would be nice to add some colour to the garden
Sunflowers because my three year old loves big, bright and beautiful flowers.

I’ve always wanted to try growing tomatoes, so I would get the Tomato Alicante 100 seeds
Salad Leaves. Not had much luck previously as the insects get to them before they grow properly.
I need more colour in my garden, so I’d like to plant the Californian Poppy Mission Bells 120 Seeds
I recently got an allotment so would choose some things that are expensive in supermarkets but I could grow. Cabbage, beans, corn, etc.

Dwarf antirrhinums & a variety of different vegetables
Would love to try growing some of the more exotic hot peppers. I usually just grow jalapenos and use them in lots of my cooking.
I would choose the carrot seeds as they taste much better then shop brought and i like seeing the green tops pop up

Tricky decisions! Just looking at moving house and will be building a new garden, so would be a mixture of lavenders, nigela and Oriental poppies alongside some kale, sungold and Cherrola tomato’s and then probably a pack of strawberry seeds as well!!! Hopefully something will grow 😆
I would choose cherry tomatoes, cucumber , lettuce and spring onions as I love my salads in the summer ! I add some feta cheese crumbled over the top with a homemade balsamic vinegarette ❤️

We’ll be growing loads this year but it’ll be the first time I’m growing Artichokes in a herbaceous border. We are doing at work and I’d love to see how it turns out at home as well!

I’d love to grow some all year round lettuces as it would be great picking my own right through the year. I also want to do some of those gorgeous harlequin sunflowers. What fabulous colours!
I would love to get some Marigolds in. They just always brighten the garden and make me smile.
Chocolate habenero, sweet hot and spicy to go with most meals
Antirrhinum Crown, I’d love some nice tall colourful flowers, all mine are short really need some height in the garden
I already have seeds germinated indoors in heated propagator and grow lights. Six different tomatoes, celery, turnips, mangetout and more. I am going to try growing melons this year.
I’d love to get a full herb garden going. We used to have one but sadly everything died off in it 🙁 Would love to get my girls on with planting some various herb seeds that we can use in our cooking together. Basil, coriander, parsley, chives and more.
Tomato seeds, preferably cherry, as they have been in such short demand lately id like to grow them myself!

I love growing (and eating!) my own grown veg, so I would love the Red Russain Kale seeds and the Asparagus Pea seeds sound interesting and tasty too!

black cherry tomatoes , dont like the current shortages of tomatoes , i love them and they are so useful in cooking . Will have to grow my own this year.
I love carrots, so the Carrot Nantes 2000 Seeds would be my choice.
Flowers to attract bees and butterflies because I love watching them come and go on things that I’ve grown
Courgette Atena Polka F1 as I love the texture of yellow courgettes. Maybe some Broccoli Early Purple Sprouting although I’ve never tried growing that before. Outdoor tomatoes too.

I’ll be planting cucumber and tomato, they taste so much better when home grown!
I think more carrots this year as I eat them nearly every day.
I’ve have never grown vegetables before, but will be trying this year.
I will sow most vegetable seeds as I love to eat home grown food and enjoy cooking using them.

I failed miserably with my veggie patch last year so plan to do much better this year with broccoli, carrots, onions and potatoes! Home grown tastes so much better.

I’d like to plant some sunflower teddy bears to add a splash of colour to my small balcony garden. And then maybe some tomato and strawberry plants to try and start on my self sufficient journey.
Above anything I’ve always wanted to grow Lavender Vera. My eldest has ADHD and Autism and find lavender so soothing, so I’d love to grow it for her. I also think it looks lovely too.

I will be planting Gazania Splendens in a special “memory” garden for my late partner who passed away in September. He loved their russet shades.
I would like to plant some Oriental Poppys because we already have some wild poppys in our garden so it would be nice to have more of a variety of colours.
I’d love to be planting a variety of veg – I particularly like the look of the Beetroot Chioggia, Carrot Paris Market Atlas and Tomato San Marzano – because we are just about to move and I am hoping to establish a new vegetable garden
Nasturtiums as they are my favourite flower then lots of veg/salad seeds particularly those that can be grown in containers.
I would love to have a more extensive herb garden – my favourites are Chives, Basil (on pasta!), Rosemary and Parsley!

Given the shortages in the shops lately, tomatoes and cucumbers, marigolds as companion plants for the tomatoes and Cavolo de Nero, which is the best kale ever
I’m going to be planting lots of veggies, I want to try growing carrots and swedes. Flower-wise I will be planting lots of fuchsia.

Black beauty tomatoes, mini munch cucumbers, french beans and broccoli are absolute staples. Of course flowers – cosmos, nigella, larkspur, sweet peas, marigold And a variety of melon that can survive our summer would be nice!

I’d love some Wildflower Mix For Shade for the quiet corner of our garden. It’s my reading corner (in the better weather) and very tranquil. We grow a lot of organic fruit and veg and put in flowers between them to attract the wildlife. In my corner however its a job to find flowers that will thrive in all the shade.

I love trying to collect my own seeds & have managed to collect nasturtium poppy foxglove & lupin …but I always buy night scented stock to sprinkle in my borders & baskets..its absolutely divine on an evening wafting through windows.

Lettuce All The Year Around as this is going up in price, it makes sense to grow my own.
I’d buy ‘Hot Pepper Basket Of Fire’ because I’m planning lots of pots of chillis on the patio this year and Basket of Fire sounds like it would work well in a pot.
Will be growing more tomatoes over at the allotments this year. Very good year for tomatoes last year. Fingers crossed it will be the same again this year. Always looking for out for interesting veg that we don’t currently have.

I would like to be planting lots of veggies this year, including some more unusual ones like carrot Purple Sun. I’d also like some sweet peas to give perfume to the house and garden. Nasturtiums would add some extra colour to our tall pots as the trail down the outside.

I love growing my own salad veg. In summer most nights I eat salad, I have been a vegetarian for over 50 yrs now, but nothing beats nipping out to the garden breaking off a few lettuce leaves, radish, spring onions and having a fresh home grown salad – so tasty!
We have a very long drive but only one car, so we’re planning to fence off the back part of it and build raised beds for growing salad and herbs. So I’d choose lots of different lettuce seeds. The year-round lettuce looks perfect!
I would get the carrot and tomato seeds, as I tend to use up a lot of tomato making curries and carrots for chicken stock
I would go for tomato plant seeds. I love tomatoes, and I grew some a couple of years ago and they were delicious!
I’ll be planting wildflower seeds as I want to attract as much wildlife as possible. I love wildflower seeds as you can just sow the seeds and then sit back and watch them grow – you don’t need to keep tending to them.

I love my garden and enjoy gardening from scratch with seeds and bulbs. I am going to try tomatoes this year, we don’t have a greenhouse we do have mild weather, worth giving it a go
Last year we were very successful with growing tomatoes and strawberries so we would love to grow those again. But I would love to try something new like rainbow chard and some peas.
I’ve got a new garden ( aka jungle) maybe clear a little space for some poppies this year and plan veggies for next. Rainbow chard looks interesting
I will be planting in my veg garden this year and it will include Nantes Carrot , Alicante Tomatoes & Cucumber Burpless Tasty. Strangely enough a friend who died last year recommended the burpless cucumbers so I am hoping to give them a try this year.
So many! I have an allotment so grow a large variety of what Seed Parade have to offer, at the top of my must grow list is mixed salad leaves – they are just so expensive in the shops for a small amount, growing your own is so simple, quick, and you can pick fresh as you need them.
Also black cherry tomatoes – they’re so lovely, and you can’t buy them in the shops, the skins are so thin that they split very easily, so there’s no way they’d cope with the process to get them picked and packed and onto supermarket shelves.
