How to Beat Burnout Caused by a Busy Work Schedule
Today I am handing my blog over to Cate from 35mminstyle.com, who is talking about how she has beat the burnout from working a busy work schedule. Something I am sure many people need help with.
Lately, I have been reading so much about burnout that I was able to recognize it when it happened to me. How to Beat Burnout caused by a busy work schedule is a post dedicated to the remedies to avoid burnout.
How to Beat Burnout caused by a busy Work Schedule
Have you ever felt the need to throw away your phone? Too many notifications, too many messages, Facebook to check, Instagram to scroll, blog to update… Mind-blowing.
Literally.
My head was about to explode.
Let me step back one second and tell you my story.

How to recognize Burnout
I work full-time as an e-commerce photographer in a menswear store and on my free time I like to update my blog on photography and blogging. The problem is I never change environment, which means I go from a morning behind a camera or a computer to an evening still behind a screen editing or writing content for my blog.
Without a precise blogging schedule to keep everything under control, when at work becomes busy, I just freak out. I feel exhausted with a neverending nauseating feeling and no strength to do what I love.
It’s the loss of control and passion that made me recognize burnout. I knew I was asking myself too much and my body was reacting against it. I was not weak nor unworthy but simply I lost my way.
Burnout derives from a busy schedule
Whether you are working at your biggest passion or you are working to pay your bills, burnout arrives when that schedule becomes too heavy. Have you ever wondered how selfcare gurus or yoga teachers seem so perfectly relaxed and peaceful all the time?
Let me tell you, it is because they take time in their work schedule to listen to their bodies and move accordingly. Without becoming ‘too-namaste-people’, they listen to their inner selves to plan life accordingly to their needs.

The Remedies to Beat Burnout Caused by Work
Now you will be wondering how is it possible to work and balance life avoiding burnout. I will not say it is easy but starting with baby steps it is totally possible. First of all, if you think about activities you normally do in your free time, you will recognize that you do most them naturally.
I am sure you may spend some time reading, listening to music, running, playing some sports or going to the movies. Now take all of these activities you need and think you are purposely doing them because you are creating time out of your busy life-working schedule, for you.
Yes, for you
Think like you are investing on you, for your future self. I will now make some examples, so you can recognize what I am talking about:
- going to the movies. It becomes taking 2 hours of your time to get away from all the problems in your life. It’s only two hours spent in another dimension in order to be more aware and focused on your daily life tasks.
- doing exercises or yoga. It becomes stretching your muscles in order to prepare them for the next day leaving all the negative contractions on today. You are moving to literally the new re-energized you of tomorrow.
- reading. It also means feeding your soul. Whether it is a funny Sophie Kinsella kind of book or a more scientific essay, reading works in a slower way and for that reason helps to balance your time.

Have I convinced you? Nowadays burnout is one of the most searched words because we live in a world with so many impulses. In fact, we no longer take time to ourselves or to enjoy life with no virtual connections.
We are 24/7 connected but we need to balance this. With my story I hope to have given you some useful remedies to avoid burnout in your daily life. My final tip is to listen to our bodies and our inner self. When something is wrong, they tell us. Of course, don’t forget to use “therapist near me” to connect with therapists in your area.
Let me know if you ever experienced burnout or your favourite activities to free your minds from work!
xx Cate

I’m feeling burnt out these days with my workload as a single working Mum. I do rely on my daily home workout though, to keep me fit and focused. It’s like a reset switch!
I’ve had burnout before and for a few years of my life I’d get ill almost every month due to a lack of sleep and doing too much. But now I try to schedule myself, have more of a routine bedtime and put time into my schedule for things for me like the cinema or shopping x

I am too familiar with burnout. I was a social worker… or is one… 4 years ago, I let burnout get the best of me and I had a straight mental breakdown. So I convinced my husband to quit our jobs and travel the world lol. My life has changed dramatically and I’ve grown up and I’m ready to be a social worker again… just this time, I’ll take care of the burnout before it consumes me. Great tips and reminders, we really need to take care of ourselves!
