Vendula Smoothies Pugnapple Backpack Review

Since I’ve struggled with my mobility I’ve missed being able to carry a bag, I’ve often had to rely on Ash to carry my things. However, once I got my chair it allowed me to at least have something to put things in on the back.
When I was contacted by Vendula to have a look at one of their bags, I thought it would be fun to see if I could take a normal backpack and use it on my chair.
Vendula London
Launched in 2003 Vendula London takes their inspiration from everyday things around them from shop fronts to animals and birds. Since then they have grown to be one of the funkiest brands across the UK, Ireland, Europe and Northern America.
All of the products sold by them are designed by an in-house team, who love to try and push the boundaries. However, they do it with style, making sure they utilise the correct materials to help make their vision a reality.
Those materials are going to make you just want to touch them, however, they are all completely vegan-friendly.
Vedula London is the perfect brand for people who want to stand out from the crowd and make people smile. This is all thanks to their unique designs in bags, card cases, backpacks and cross-body bags.
Smoothies Pugnapple Backpack
There are so many wonderful items to choose from at Vendula London, however, I just had to have a closer look at this Pugnapple bag.
Made in a funky pineapple shape, complete with leaf topping and adorned with crystals. Featuring 1 main compartment with zip closure, 1 inside zipped pocket and 2 inside open pockets.
While to each side you will find a smaller popper pocket.
The bag itself has been made from vegan leather, which has been printed and embossed and finished off with hand-stitched detailing and brass fastenings. The inside of the bag is then lined with an exclusive cotton lining.
Did it Work with a Wheelchair?
It took me a while to work out the best way to carry this on a wheelchair, however by pulling the straps as short as possible I found it possible by using two x three-inch locking carabiners to attach it to the back handle.
By looping it around the top handle and securing the carabiner through both sides I was able to make a secure attachment which for someone to remove would take a good few minutes and pulling time.
While it did hang slightly downwards, it was far enough away from the wheels that it didn’t cause any issues and allowed me to carry things in style.
What Did I Think of the Smoothies Pugnapple Backpack?
I normally carry a plain black wheelchair bag on my chair and it was really nice to have something which I feel fitted my personality better, which was fun and unique.
When it comes to the bag itself, it is well-made and sturdy and feels like it will keep me going for a long time. The main compartment is large enough to carry around everything I need day to day, while I can slip a small coin purse into the zipped inside pocket if need be.
As well as the backpack, there is also a matching coin purse and key charm, while the smoothies range includes other pug-themed items as well.

I would say it’s a comparable price with others in its niche. You can get backpacks cheaper yes, but you would likely be looking at something more sports bag/school bag and even those can cost around £40£50 these days from looking at a popular place to buy kids school backpacks.
Oh I think this is super cute. I do find bags a little bit boring sometimes and so I’m always shopping around Aliexpress for cuter bags. But of course I am sure this one is so much better in quality and made to last. Also I think it really jazzes up your wheelchair adding some character to it. 🙂
