5 Fantastic Things to Do in Lisbon
Are you looking for your next European getaway?
Portugal is a beautiful country that is becoming increasingly popular with tourists from all over the world.
Not only does it make for an affordable holiday in hot weather, but it’s also incredibly Instagrammable if that’s your thing.
If you’re considering a city break, then Lisbon is the place to be, and here are five of the best things to see and do while you’re there.
National Museum of Contemporary Art
If you love a stroll around a museum, then Lisbon is the perfect place to visit. Its highlights include the National Museum of Contemporary Art which opened in 1911 and is home to some stunning pieces.
The city has some less conventional museums too. So, if you fancy something a little different, then there’s always the National Tile Museum – it’s more interesting than it sounds!
Travel on a Tram

You might hate navigating public transport when you’re at home, but the Lisbon tram network is not your average light rail.
Specifically, you want the E28 tram. Not only is this little carriage adorable, but it will take you through some of the city’s narrowest streets – in some cases, you won’t believe it fits.
Try to avoid rush hour – although this is a great tourist attraction, it’s also relied upon by the locals going about their daily lives.
Palace of the Marquises of Fronteira

Dating back to 1681, the Palace of the Marquises of Fronteira is a must-see for anyone visiting Lisbon.
While the palace itself is worth a visit, the gardens are an incredible example of landscaping.
Plus, if you didn’t get enough of the tiles at the National Tile Museum, then these gardens are Lisbon’s second-best place to find beautiful tile art… but don’t worry, we’ll forgive you if you’ve had your fill and want to give them a miss.
Shop at the Feira de Ladra
Known as Thieves’ Market, Feira da Ladra is a treasure trove of antiques, souvenirs, and knick-knacks for you to peruse every Tuesday and Saturday.
Dating back to the 12th century, you’ll be amazed at some of the gems you can find and haggle for.
Don’t let the name put you off, the market is perfectly legal, and a great place to visit if you want to take some artisan gifts home for your friends and family.
Visit Jerónimo’s Church and Monastery

Any architecture lover visiting Lisbon must go to Jerónimo’s monastery. Opened in 1495, this incredible building is a masterpiece of vaulted ceilings and intricately carved pillars.
With only a €10 entrance fee, it’s also one of Lisbon’s most affordable attractions to visit.
Of course, you might fall so in love with the city that you never want to leave. If that’s the case, then Property Lisbon are experts at finding the perfect home for those making the big move.
