And the Winner is SALLY!
I’ve never said that Sally is the best-trained dog.
I mean, don’t get me wrong, she isn’t wild (all of the time).
However, when she came into my life completely shut off from the world, I had never had a dog in my life before and the person who had promised she was his, did nothing.
Which meant I had no idea what to do.
There were so many questions I needed to find answers to.
What’s the best food? Grain free dog food most definitely seemed to suit her well.

How do you train a dog? She was absolutely petrified of other dogs, which means classes weren’t an option.
In the end, we muddled along together, I taught her to walk on a lead, but she can still pull.
I taught her to sit, but sometimes she doesn’t want to.
Of course, I failed at teaching her some things as well. She never really got into playing with toys, even cheese in a hanky didn’t do it. Though bottles and boxes are fun, as is stripping tennis balls.
However, I did manage to teach her to be more of a dog, to enjoy life, to snuggle and be snuggled.
To enjoy human company again.
While she taught me I was worth more and saved my life on many occasions.

What Award Would Sally Win?
With Crufts and Scruffts happening right now, it got me wondering what award Sally would win.
She most definitely is the most sneaky of snack thieves! She stole a chicken ball right off my plate the other week.
She is also easy to fall in love with. I don’t think anyone has walked into the bungalow and not fallen for her goofy face.
Of course, she could always win the silliest Sally of all time! With all the funny situations she gets herself into and the fact she always knows how to make me smile.

Most Caring Dog
But honestly, I think she should win the award for the most caring dog.
From the times she snuggles with me when I am feeling unwell and in pain, to picking up the small changes in Ash’s sugar levels.
Sally is always putting her humans first, making sure they are OK, and trying to tell us when something is wrong before it becomes a bigger issue.
I can’t think of a moment when Sally hasn’t tried her best to look after me.
She is a very special dog and a dog I am very lucky to have in my life for sure.
Do you have a pet? What award do you think they would win?
This post is in conjunction with James Wellbeloved but all thoughts are my own.

well done Sally your fantastic girl
There is a reason the phrase ‘ mans best friend’ is a phrase.
Dogs are brilliant at making the world seem a happier place. Right now I have Molly (a lovely dog) snuggled against me for a lazy Sunday morning.
PS In many, many cases it’s ‘woman’s best friend’.
I love how amazing dogs are. They have the ability to change the world
What a wonderful post. So envy you have such a cute dog and also great to see how human dog can be. I really want to get one for my kids but it is not easy where I live. But I’m going to work this out becuase I love them way too much.
