The Pawfect Ingredients for the Comfiest Dog Bed
Sally is getting on a bit now and while most of the time she looks as sprightly as ever, there are times when you can tell her bones are hurting her just a little bit more. Especially when she is getting up after a long nap, as such making sure she has a comfortable, supportive place to lay her head has become a must.
So what sort of things do we look for to make for the perfect place to let an important dog lay her head?
Size and Shape
Every dog likes to lay down differently. Sally, well she likes to stretch out as much as she can, meaning she needs a big bed, that can take her stretch out in full and she is much better with a rectangular shaped rather than rounded one.
Covering
As a dog gets older (Sal is 16 now), things can happen, such as they become a little incontinent. Thankfully we have it controlled with meds. However it did show us the benefit of a washable, waterproof cover for a bed, otherwise, you will quickly find yourself throwing out bed after bed. Though other dogs might like a fleece covering for warmth or even one they can get under.
Soft or Firm?
That is the question? Like human beds you need need to think about what the mattress part of the bed feels like. Memory foam has made its way into the dog bed world and can make a comfortable place for dogs to lay their heads.
Look
While it might not matter to your pet what the bed looks like, they now come in all sorts of colour choices and as such once you have got down what your dog needs, you can look to find something that works with the style of your home as well.
Remember the most important thing when it comes to getting a bed for your pet, is your pet. What suits one, may not suit another and that’s OK. As a dog owner you often get used to what your pet likes, however as they get older that can change, so be ready and be open to adapting to suit their changing needs.
Sally was kindly sent a new designer bed from Raised by Humans, which ticks many of the boxes when it comes to a bed for her. From the memory foam mattress to the waterproof cover and of course I just so happen to love the bright metric design on top.
If you are looking to get your dog a new bed this winter, do remember to think about what they need and remember the weather could get cold.

My dog is a senior too. According to dog years, he’s over 90. I think he will appreciate the bright and comfy dog bed.

I Share this to my sister and she was amazed how you took photos of your dog! Because she can have any decent photo with her pet. Lol
I have to admit it takes treats, you have to wiggle them about and she will sit to say please, quickly snap away and then give her treat and rinse and repeat until you have photos you like haha!

Ahhh this is perfect for my two! Rosie’s still in her chewing stage as a pup so we’re cautious on what bed she has but when that’s over, something like this would be fab! Louis would find it absolute bliss.

Having this bet for your pet is indeed the best gift for them this Christmas. Its getting cold and they need to have something to keep them warm as well. Pet toys is a bonus then!
Most definitely pets deserve to be given lovely warm and cosy places to sleep just like we do :).
That sure looks like a nice, comfy bed that would keep your fur baby warm this winter. We got our dog a pet bed a few years back, but he only slept on it for a week. Then we was back up on the couch the following week. I think he thinks he is the alpha male so he “demands” a big bed even if he is just a tiny little shih tzu!
Aww bless him haha they can be so funny sometimes, to be honest Sal is normally on our bed or the sofa but does use her own bed sometimes, I think now we live in a bungalow she can be in either place and see everything, where as before she likes her bed in a position of over view.

I always make sure to buy a waterproof dog bed. My dogs do not like to share so they each have their own bed.
There is so many reasons why you need a good waterproof bed isn’t there.
Sweet dog and sweet bed! My dog always liked quite firm beds and being a German Shepherd it was tough to find a dog bed that was big enough for her AND washable. She was 15 when she died and had severe arthritis and incontinence. So, we used a baby’s crib mattress. It worked for her.

I really do like the colors on the dog bed here. And memory foam would just be perfect. I just am not sure whether my dog would do it. Every bed that’s ever been for my dog, he has decided to hump. I have no clue why. It’s weird. He only likes sleeping when he is in contact with another human.
Oh no haha! I bet that makes for an interesting situation, I guess as long as he is happy with where he sleeps that’s all that matters really.
Our pup loves his beds. We bought two one for each floor.

It really is – we have been through so many beds with her over the years for all different reasons.
That pattern is fab, I love how bright it is rather than a boring plain black or brown. I bet the memory foam is a delight for her too x

Sally is gorgeous. Her new bed sounds fabulous, sounds good enough to curl up on myself! One of the key things for me with a pet bed is being able to wash it and for it to remain in good shape. I wash our cat beds regularly, and have found some have totally been ruined after the first wash. No good at all. Having a washable waterproof cover is an excellent idea.

I have to say, Miss Sally is looking mighty beautiful at age 16! We have two golden retrievers at our house (Harry and Sally) and I’m the worse about buying dog beds. Every one that looks comfy, I come home with (and my husband returns because really, they have their favorites) For us, it was hard to find some that were big enough. After that, I always look for those where it’s easy to remove the cover for washing, and also something will be comfy and not too hot. x

I love that design on the bed! We always make sure it’s large enough and has the right mattress for our dog.
It makes a huge difference to your pooch if you do look after them when it comes to a mattress doesn’t it.

We’ve brought my dog so many beds over the years but we’ve found she prefers blankets! I love the design of this dog bed and it looks very comfortable. Sally has been spoilt!

I bought him the biggest cat bed I could find, but my smallest cat decided that she wanted it for herself – and my huge Tom cat prefers to squeeze himself into the teeny tiny cat bed instead! 😀 xx

Aw good luck with getting a dog they really are worth it.
A comfy bed is a must for our furry family members. Our dog sleeps with us but could he not make it to the bed he’d also need a big soft bed like Sal’s.
Sal actually probably sleeps with us most of the time too, infact we are both in the lounge now and she’s on our bed as she can still see us from there as we live in a small bungalow it was different when we lived elsewhere.
We don’t have a dog yet but we are thinking about getting one in the near future. When we get one, I’ll be sure to find a comfy dog bed for our new pup!

I didn’t realize that dog beds had different levels for firmness. It only makes sense since that’s how our beds work!
It is something I hadn’t thought about much till Sal got older but I am glad they do.
We don’t have a dog, but this bed is so fun looking that it’s making me wish we did! 🙂 And I can totally see why a waterproof bed would be important.

My friend went through so many dog beds until they found the correct one their dog wold actually use. She could have used this information and saved time and money.

We have been thinking about getting a dog for a while. I didn’t realise that there was so much to think about when it came to their dog bed. However, I can see that it’s really important to get a bed that fits for your dog. This one sounds lovely. I love that it is a memory foam mattress. Also, the design is really funky and would look lovely in any house.
It is crazy there is so much to do when you get one, definitely as they get older as well a good bed is a must. Sal used to just lay in the middle of the floor and not care but not so much anymore.
Sally’s bed looks very nice. I love the bright pattern. Our dogs actually need a new bed. They are small and share a huge dog bed in our living room when they are out and about. It’s seen better days.

Good tips. Making sure we chose a doggy bed with a waterproof and washable cover that way if our doggy has the occasional mishap was really important to me when buying a new bed of our beloved Bosco.

This does look like a comfy dog bed. We only have cats, and I bought them a bed, but they rarely use it. They prefer the couch. Or the table, which isn’t allowed, but they try anyway.
Cats seem to sleep anywhere don’t they haha! My Mums cat has just blankets to sleep on as she decided she liked to be under the radiator in the bathroom lol.
