A Modern Makeover for Your Conservatory this Year
The conservatory has been a desirable feature for properties for decades, perhaps even centuries. An easy way to create more space and make homes bigger, there was a period in the 1970s and 80s where the conservatory was incredibly popular! However, they were often made poorly and were cheapened in order to appeal to the masses. Sooner or later, the conservatory was no longer quite so desirable and they dropped in demand.
Traditional conservatories were fast becoming an annoyance; homeowners found that they were sweltering in the summer, and were more like freezers in the winter. With glass roofs and limited insulation, conservatories were extremely dependent on the weather conditions outside. Now, further down the line, we have access to better materials and more efficient structures that have allowed conservatories to be a popular construction once again.
Why are conservatories so popular?
Conservatories provided properties with so many benefits, such as the extra space, and this is something still sought after today. An easy way to add an extension without going through the difficult process of planning permission, it was clear conservatories needed a makeover to be deemed suitable for regular use.
Conservatories are now becoming more of an integral part of a home, instead of an afterthought. Advancements in technology as well as materials means that the modern conservatory is much more appropriate. From improvements in the initial structure, to modern features and add-ons, conservatories are functional once again. With customers always on the lookout for the next biggest thing, conservatories have turned a corner and entered the modern age.
A change in design
Today, conservatories are a much more bespoke feature to suit individual customers or homes. With everyone having such a varied personal style, conservatories are adapting to accommodate as best they can.
Many conservatories are now being installed with bi-folding doors in order to open up the space even further. For those looking for extra light and air, bi-folding doors are a dream addition whether it’s summer or winter. Designed with insulated properties, bi-folding doors can enhance a conservatory beautifully and create just what you were looking for.
One of the more impressive changes to conservatories in recent years is the improvement of conservatory roofs. Providing a solution that works perfectly all year round, glass roofs might become a thing of the past. Choosing a solid tiled roof for your conservatory means that you can enjoy the space throughout the year, turning the room into a comfortable area for you and your family.
A construction that is created with insulating materials, a tiled conservatory roof also adds a great visual effect to your conservatory.
Long-lasting charm
Investing in a home improvement that is guaranteed to stand the test of time can be very important for homeowners. After all, no one wants to buy something and have problems with it later down the line. Many homeowners are looking for the most convenient option, that allows them to relax and enjoy their decision.
Performance-driven and incredibly attractive, a tiled roof gives the conservatory a modern transformation that brings together innovation and comfort.

Me likey ^ ^ This is amazing! Great idea.
A roof to improve a conservatory is a brilliant idea! It would definitely take care of the annoyance of having to constantly consider the weather!
Wow, that room is amazing
reminds me of the house I grew up in when I was a kid
I don’t have a conservatory at home but it would be amazing to have one! I love this modern take on conservatories! This is a lovely design inspiration!
Wow! That’s a beautiful conservatory! You make me want to have one at home. I love the inspiration and you’re right, a modern looking one is really beautiful.
A Conservatory is always a great place to have a morning tea, read some books, chat with loved ones and almost the best place to relax anytime. I would really wiksh to have one such during make over in future!
What a great make over. It looks so modern. I wish I had a house I could remodel.
I love conservatories, I always have. I just find them so tranquil. It’s like having the ability to be in the garden all year round. And in England, that’s a massive plus. Its great that more modern matierial is being used to try and balance temperatures all year round. Thanks for sharing.
That’s a beautiful space. I can’t wait to have a room like that.
I would love to have on of these when I get a home. It looks amazing to have. Just sitting out there enjoying the view drinking a coffee.
Lovely place, I whish I had high ceelings to have something similar to this!!
I personally, don’t have a conservatory, but I am sending this over to my brother in law. He has been wondering what to do with his space!
Great tips!
I have always loved the open feel of a conservatory, but as a Florida girl who grew up under the threat of hurricanes and other strong storms, a completely glass room seems frivolous to me. For my family (when I was younger) a good compromise was a solarium/sunroom … they’re a bit more solid in structure, but still have the same feel of light and general openness.
What a beautiful space. The best retreats are in the comfort of your own home. I love all the light coming from the windows.

I love it! It’s like a mini retreat that’s still part of your home. There’s just something refreshing with big windows and neutral tones. I can lounge here all day!
Conservatories aren’t that popular in Australia as we have mild weather. When we lived in the UK they were very popular. I’d have one if I lived there.
I have a deck in my new house I have a deck and I can’t wait to use it this summer to write in my blog 🙂 thank you for this Article
We just bought a new house and it actually has one of these (well, similar). You have to go outside to get to it, but it is attached to the house. I love it because it’s such an awesome place to take photos because it’s so bright!
That conservatory looks so beautiful! I’m definitely jealous of the idea since right now the only outdoor space I have is my urban balcony. Maybe I’ll have to put a conservatory on my dream-home-wishlist
I’m so envious that you have a conservatory. Looks awesome.
I wish I had one of these! They look great. Maybe one day!
I shall keep my fingers tightly crossed for you! x
Awesome picture. Conservatory is a great place to read book, drink coffee and just relax. I would love to have one like this in my future house;)
My home definitely needs a modern update! This is stunning!
What a gorgeous looking space. I would live in that room if I had it at my house.
Haha I know right – I would as well! x
