5 ways you know your friends are on holiday in the UK
I adore holidays in the UK (ok so going abroad is fantastic as well) but having just gone away for a few days break in Scarborough and then coming back and seeing this post on 7 of the most annoying holiday status updates, I thought I would relate it to the UK and the annoying things I have been posting.
1. Complaining about traffic, as you get stuck in yet another jam.
There is always something that is going to slow down the traffic here, mostly roadwork’s – we seem to always be trying to fix something and half the time it’s all coned off with no one working (what is that all about?).
2. Weather updates – before and during the holiday.
Everyone knows the English weather is unpredictable and so checking it almost obsessively before and during the holiday is a must, it also helps you pack (well to the point of making sure you including things for rain and shine).
3. Fish and Chips
The most English of dishes, fish and chips is a must, especially if you happen to be visiting the seaside or a harbour, where you can grab it fresh as can be, from the local shops who often buy direct from the local fishermen.
4. Photos of the landscape
Where ever you are in the UK, be it in the middle of a historic city, living it up on the beach or exploring the countryside – you have to share the latest beautiful view that you can see, making everyone really jealous they can’t see it to.
5. Motorway Service
The obligatory I am on my way there or my way home motorway service log in, which is normally accompanied by pictures of fast food and complaining about the toilets.

These are so true. I normally see loads of Snapchats about how amazing everything is and loads of selfies with different landmarks in the background.

I recognize some of this from my and my husband’s trip to southern Germany. There were roadworks everywhere. My husband isn’t that much of a Facebooker though so he didn’t complain to anyone other than me.
Oh, how I love fish and chips. I had them once when in the UK and would love to go back to the UK just for the fish and chips! Of course we can get them here too but they don’t taste nearly as good.
The lack of parking spaces is always mentioned when we/friends visit the coast, we know it’s going to be bad and yet we always act surprised when we can’t find a space lol….I am guilty of all of the above when we go on holiday in the UK

We tend to do most of our holidaying in the UK. We always have to pack twice as many clothes as you think!

I live in the South East and we are “meant” to have the best weather, yet we all still moan!!
So true! Pictures with raincoats on but underneath over optimistic summer clothing and sandals.
