Protect Your Pet.
Sometimes things happen to our pets when we least expect it, for Sal she has had problems with her hind legs – which lead to one knee being re-grooved, she also has constant stomach problems which has left her on a prescription diet and getting older has meant she sometimes is a little incontinent. While the guineas well as of yet nothing too much has happened bar an infection but you never quite know what is around the corner, but it a health problem or an accident, I always think it is best to be prepared.
Buying insurance for Sal was easy, she came with 6 weeks free and we decided to stick with that provider as their covered for life plan is amazing and each time we have had to claim everything has been handled quickly and smoothly, while the guineas as exotic pets meant searching around a bit more.
Pet Plan have recently realised a video giving a bit of an insight into the facts and figures behind their insurance, some of it is fascinating with the totals of monies paid out, percentages of each pet insured and while some are a little more silly, with insights into pet names and even owner names! All of which have Sarah coming in top, apart from when it comes to dogs, I think something is a little wrong there!
Anyway I won’t give it all away – why not have a gander yourself and check out the video below.

Pet insurance is difficult when it comes to older animals you have to careful that they are covered. I insured my rescue dog with Animal Friends, and am very happy with them
I never thought about pet insurance before this post, your post makes me think about the pet insurance because the vaccination costs are too high which can ruin the budget plan.
We have 2 cats and it really is something we should be thinking about, it’s never occurred to me before even though we take them for vaccinations and check ups annually.
Hi Sarah
This is a really interesting post – as our pooches get older people underestimate how much care and medical attention they need and how expensive it can be!

Thank goodness our pets have been super healthy so far (knock on wood).
Just remember to check the small print as there are often different levels of cover – and unless you go for ‘lifelong’ many insurers will not continue to pay out for chronic conditions after the first year.
Great advice it is always safe to have it!
This is such a lovely thing! I didn;t know pet insurance could be done. thanks for sharing!
Pet insurance is most defenetly wise!
It gives you security (just incase) 🙂
People should be more aware of this. Love this post.
Pet insurance is so important. I bet it’s expensive to keep the fur babies healthy.
I never bought pet insurance for my dog or cats. My mother in law did and it has saved her tons of money. Great post.
My husband would never stand to get our pets insured, but I think its a good idea. So far, our dogs are healthy… Now I better find some wood.
I have never really thought about pet insurance. I need to look into it a little more.
I do need pet insurance for my dog. His medications are so epensive
Ugh, we are awful, we STILL haven’t gotten any pet insurance, and I’ve marked it down as a TO DO for a while now. Great reminder!
we have tesco pet insurance
Only just found your blog….thats my night sorted reading all these posts. I have insurance for my cats. made the mistake once, and had massive vet bills, wont happen again x
Insurance for your pet is very important. We have two fur-babies and insurance on both. Our weimaraner was hit by a car and our insurance helped tremendously. Great post!
I think Pet Insurance is a good idea. Our dog is almost 17!
Thank you for the post. I should really set up some insurance for Roby. Off to the vets tomorrow for his booster.
I had insurance for my cats a million years ago. It was a good investment.
I think pet insurance is very important, thanks for the post and I hope Sal is in good health
We have pets and their health care costs can be so high. This certainly makes sense and something to look into.
I need to look into this, we have a cat that I adopted simply because she had special needs medically. She had been returned to the shelter 4 times because of it even though she is the sweetest cat ever. Thank you for sharing this, I had no idea it existed.
Honestly, I’d rather pay as I go. I feel this way for both pet and human care 😉 🙂
One of our cats has some weird health issues. We have been looking into pet insurance for her.
Always a great idea to protect your pet, seen too many people who haven’t left with huge vet bills they are struggling to pay x
That’s what I was been thinking lately getting our Pug an insurance. She is getting bigger and who knows, she may get so sick or what in the future.
I’ve got a dog and three cats, I love them all a whole lot and believe in the importance of protecting ones pets.
We have a very pampered yellow Lab, but had not thought of insurance for him…he is five now, and I think it would be a wise bet for sure.
Interesting never heard of pet plans. They definitely sound like something worth getting.
I wouldn’t be without pet insurance, I just arranged mine for my 14 week old pup this afternoon actually. Good serious post
They insure a large selection of pets to be sure!! I laughed at the tortoise, my daughter loves them…and it’s a pet even dad lets her have. 😉
We just got our dog this past winter and I really hadn’t thought about pet insurance, but now you have definitely given me something to think about.
