8 Gifts for the Golfing Gal
Even if a certain celebration wasn’t just around the corner (don’t worry, we won’t say it), there are always reasons to show our nearest and dearest how much we care. There are always people that are tough to buy for though, and while there is plenty out there on the market for golfers, it’s not always so easy to find something to buy for the ladies who happen to be handy on the green.
If you’re stuck for ideas over what to buy the female golfer in your life, we’ve listed our top girly gifts with a golfing twist, with something to suit every budget – oh, and we promise that absolutely nothing is pink.
1. Clothes
There’s not always a lot of choice when it comes to ladies’ golfing attire, usually because there are so few women on the course. Surprising your other half (or friend, or relative) with something that manages to look AND feel good will definitely get you brownie points. Now that the days are officially getting chilly, we recommend something like this simple but stylish top from Under Armour. The breathable fabric is light and soft (perfect for hiking around the greens all day), while the contrast detail is understated and flattering.
2. Jewellery
While we’re sure that no girl is going to turn down something sparkly, most jewellery isn’t designed with sports in mind. Nomination composable bracelets are ideal for an active lady who wants all the uniqueness of a charm bracelet without worrying about it getting caught or being in the way. The charms work like links, and feature all kind of designs, food and hobbies – like golf, for example.
3. Gadgets
For the woman who’s obsessed with improving her game but can’t always make it to the club, surprise her with a way to train at home. Golf Swing Systems offer tech for all your golfing needs, including practice mats, indoor nets and enclosures, and simulators. For the ultimate romantic gesture, offer to set it up for her while she’s out for the day, then let her swing to her heart’s content until she can get back out on the course (just remember to take down any light fittings you’re fond of).
4. Shoes
Now, we’re generalising here, but most women do appreciate a decent pair of shoes. Obviously, these need to be golfing green ready, which is why we’ve picked out the elegant and practical Kiltie Gallivanter style from G/FORE. Designed with both the game and the wardrobe in mind, these shoes feature a specially-designed cleat pattern and a lightweight sole for optimal on-course comfort, while the metallic copper kiltie on the front adds just a touch of glamour.
5. A Watch
There is a wealth of GPS watches, specifically designed to aid golfers during the game. They come pre-loaded with data about tens of thousands of courses around the world, and can track shots (including which club was used), while highlighting any hazards on the green. Just like a fitness tracker, most watches will also monitor general activity and are compatible with smartphone notifications.
6. Clubs
Obviously we don’t mean for you to take her dancing. If her current irons are wearing her down, treat her to one of the hotly reviewed Mizuno JPX900 Hot Medals. The design has been scoring well for its power, achieving what has been dubbed “offensive distance” thanks to an exceptionally thin face. On top of that, the blend of polished and matte finish, with a little splash of colour, make the heads look particularly attractive for a performance club.
7. A Bag
If she’s been extra good, treat her to a nice leather shoulder bag, like one of these beauties from Bentley. Hand crafted in soft leather, its sleek silhouette lends sophistication to any golfer that knows what she’s doing with a club. Does an empty bag feel slightly insufficient? You could always fill it with some of their gorgeous accessories.
8. Something Personal
You could get her a customised photo frame, or a necklace with her name on it. Or you could splash out on something she can actually use, like customised golf balls. Premium golfing supplier, Titleist offer customisation on their Pro V1 golf balls, which can be printed with names, graphics and even photographs. Design them to commemorate a special day, or simply with her name and sweet message from you – don’t worry, there’s a character limit.
