5 Things to Do in Liverpool

There is never a bad time to plan for future days out. After all, it can help lift the mood having something to plan for and look forward to.
I think for a while, we will all be looking to stay closer to home. While still giving ourself a pick-me-up by getting out and exploring.
So with that in mind, I’ve come up with some ideas about things to do in Liverpool.
The north west city is famous for The Beatles, two football clubs – Liverpool FC and Everton – and its interesting architecture – the Radio City Tower and the Royal Liver Building to name just two which offer some spectacular views of Liverpool.
The Beatles Story.
Is it possible to think of Liverpool and not think of The Beatles? There are many things you can do across the city which are related to this much-loved band.
One of them is The Beatles Story. Situated on the historic Albert Dock (which is a must-visit all of its own). This award-winning museum is the largest permanent exhibition dedicated only to The Beatles.
Here you will follow the story of all four from childhood to worldwide success, while seeing memorabilia, imagery and even video interviews.
They are also completely dedicated to making the experience disability-friendly.
Ticket prices at £16 for an adult and £12.50 for a concession.
Liverpool Ghost Tour.
If you are interested in learning some of the history of Liverpool and perhaps spot some spectors, then taking one of the towns ghost tours might be up your street.
A number of different tours run across the city and it is worth spending time looking into each one.
Right now, the Liverpool Ghost Tour: City Center City Exploration Game maybe one to consider, as you work purely with your own group, no tour guide is needed. Instead, you follow clues given to you via an app which lead you from location to location. Learning about the haunted location as you go.
Liverpool Cathedral.
Interestingly Liverpool Catherdral was only completed in 1978, having been designed by Sir Giles Gilbert Scott when he was only 22 years old.
The tower of this beautiful listed building is 110m high and if you have a chance to climb it will offer beautiful views across the city.
With many exhibitions and goings-on at the Cathedral, it is always worth looking up what might be going on before you visit.
The cathedral is working on being as accessibility friendly as possible and has guides around who can offer help as needed.
Museum of Liverpool.
The Museum of Liverpool offers free entry (with donations welcome) and is positioned on Liverpool’s famous waterfront.
Opened in 2011, this world museum is based in a purpose-built building and looks to expand on the previous Liverpool Museum. Offering insights into the history of the city over the past 200 years.
With displays to see such as The Great Port, City Soldiers and the chance to visit The Piermaster’s House. This really is a place that you could spend the whole day.
There are disabled toilets, to the ground floor, and gender-neutral on the first floor. While lifts offer access to all floors. Staff will provide folding chairs if needed while seating is provided throughout. A prayer room can also be found on the first floor.
British Music Experience.
Love music? Then the British Music Experience is somewhere worth visiting. Charting the years of popular music in Britain, be it pop, rock or something else.
This museum claims an unrivalled collection of memorabilia, stage outfits, instruments, images and footage. Which includes outfits worn by stars such as Freddie Mercury, The Spice Girls and Adam Ant. Handwritten lyrics from Adele and instruments played by Noel Gallagher and the Sex Pistols.
Wander through interactive zones such as the Gibson Brands Interactive Studio where you can get hands-on with guitars, keyboards and drums. Or try your hand at being a pop star in the vocal booth.
The British Music Experience is wheelchair friendly (although you do need to access the museum by a different entrance). If you need to hire a chair do get in touch before you visit to reserve one.
Ticket prices are £15 for adults and concessions £11.50.
Other things to do in Liverpool
There is so much to do in Liverpool that it’s impossible to narrow it down to just five things! If you’re a football fan, why not take a stadium tour? Or head down Mathew Street to check out some live music at the famous Cavern Club.
If you like modern art, there’s the impressive Tate Liverpool Gallery or the Walker Art Gallery or history buffs should try the Merseyside Maritime Museum.
There’s also plenty in the way of food and drink. Try Mowgli for Indian street food, Moose for yummy brunches and Marcello for steaks.
If I have you wanting to go to Liverpool, don’t forget to think about booking a hotel which has you close to all the action such as the Liverpool Apart Hotel.

I’ve never visited Liverpool. It sounds like I need to get out and visit more parts of the UK. It sounds like a great place to go with friends and explore the sites.
There is so much to in the UK isn’t there – hard to manage to get to it all.
I’m not originally from Liverpool but I love it and moved to the Wirral 27 years ago which is just across the river Mersey., I then lived in the city centre for 4 years before moving to Southport which is only 18 miles away, I won’t move any further away. We visit the museums, shops and restaurants on a regular basis. The Liver Building is my all time favourite and Anfield is something else.
I bet it is lovely to be so close and just be able to pop back and forth to see things.
I would love to visit Liverpool’s museum, and to experience the place where the Spice Girls was born! British music gives so much inspiration for many music creators.

Liverpool is such a charming place. Yes, I associate it so much with The Beatles. I do want to visit it when I get to travel to Europe.

I would love to go to Liverpool and learn more about the Beatles. During my trip to Hamburg last year I’ve learned about how the German city has pushed their career, so I’d like to know more about their home town and the start of their journey.

I love Liverpool and was supposed to head there in May but we have had to postpone our trip. I have visited quite a few places there but missed the Beatles Museum, would love to check this out when I go visit next

I’ve never been to Liverpool and since I’ve recently become a Mum (and the pandemic), I’m looking forward to having more staycations rather than going abroad. Those are all great suggestions. My oldest son loves music so the Beatles Story and the British Music Experience would definitely be on our list.

We don’t live that far away from Liverpool so visit fairly regularly. We really love the Museum of Liverpool and the Maritima and Slavery Museum.

We had a lovely weekend coach trip and tours :- Liverpool, etc a couple of years ago. Also have some family in Liverpool and managed to catch up with them on that occasion.
Another trip to Liverpool would be nice sometime. I would like to visit the museum, have a walk around the Waterfront. Visit family. Tour the area, find out more of Liverpool’s history, etc.

I adore Liverpool. It is such an incredible city. We were hoping to go back this year with my Beatle obsessed Dad, We took him last year but just for the day and there was so many more things he wanted to do.
