4 Jobs To Tackle Around the Home
If you are making the most of the summer and thinking about getting on with some jobs around the home then here are 5 jobs that might help you on the way to giving your home a clean and tidy feel.
Declutter and Clean.

We all end up with things we no longer use or need and while decluttering is a great idea at any time of the year, summer can be a useful time to head out to a car boot and earn some extra pennies on top of making space.
Of course, while you declutter it is a good idea to think about cleaning. After all, cleaning as you go can really make things easier to deal with, as you will only be tackling a small area of the home at a time.
It is also worth making sure you have the right tools for the job. For instance, Dishmatic offers a range of microfibre clothes which can be great for cleaning all around the home, from washing up, to damp dusting you might be surprised by how helpful one is.
Mow the Lawn and Clean Your Driveaway.
With the mix of rain and sun, we are getting at the moment, things seem to be growing like crazy, so it might be time to think about mowing the lawn again as well as perhaps cleaning the driveway.
It’s a good idea to keep some length to your grass, just in case we still get a bit of a heatwave hit.
When it comes to your driveway you will want to look at clearing any weeds that may be growing through or just giving it a general tidy-up. After all, these are two areas that people are going to see first when they arrive at your home.
Clean Your Appliances.

Something that is often overlooked in the home is making sure our appliances are clean. However, making sure those white goods we use to clean our clothes and dishes have a clean of their own is a must.
If you want to do this without reaching for chemicals then using a mix of white vinegar and bicarbonate of soda can work as well.
For your washing machine; use a white vinegar water spray to clean out the seals, draws and door to help ensure your washing machine is ready for the big clean. Then use a bicarb paste in the draw (1/4 cup of bicarb to 1/4 cup of water) and vinegar (2 cups) into the drum. This is a more natural way to give it a deep clean and remove mineral deposits and any mould growth. Make sure to run on a 90-degree cycle to make the most of this cleaning method.
You can also use a mix of vinegar and water for your dishwasher to clean out all the dirt. To do this just place the mix in a dishwasher-safe container on the top shelf and run the highest temperature cycle as possible.
Check Your Alarms.

You should check your alarms multiple times per year. However, while you are giving your home a once over it is a good time to do them. Make sure to check the batteries in both your smoke alarm and carbon monoxide alarm.
After all, you want to be as safe as possible in your home.
However, what about you, what is your most important job to do in the spring?

White vinegar for getting smells out of things. It’s so easy!
It is amazing how much it can really help with jobs around the home.
Start cleaning a room in one corner and work towards the door, cleaning from top to bottom. Having a plan of action keeps you on task. It’s also good to collect all that you need beforehand.
That sounds like a great idea – it can be hard to know where to start at times!
Use a dash of white vinegar, a drop of washing up liquid & hot water to wash windows with, wipe with a squeegy then rub with newspaper to have sparkling windows. Never clean them in bright sunshine to avoid smears. Works well on glass shower screens, mirrors & tiles too.
That sounds like a great idea – I will have to try that for washing the windows thank you!
Hot water lemon and a great soundtrack to go with it!
Definitely use a microfibre cloth for cleaning mirrors and windows. It stops them going streaky!
I hate cleaning! Have just begun decluttering though, already took one box to a charity shop and have another ready to go.
A magic eraser is really magic on marks on the wall.
Get some good music on and some new lovely smelling cleaning products and it makes cleaning so much better! x
Put a cup with hot water and lemon juice in the microwave for a minute to make your microwave easier to clean and smelling gorgeous
clean up as you go rather than letting it build up to a huge mountain which seems unachievable
I try and do bits at a time and not do it all at once, then it doesn’t become overwhelming
I always hoover before I dust, wait 5 mins and the surfaces are then ready to clean
To clean dried food out of a microwave heat a bowl of water with fairy liquid in and then wipe
My tip is start at the top
Sodium bicarbonate ! My go to wonder stain removal especially on vimto and red wine stains
Always make sure you have baking soda in the house. It helps remove tough stains, freshen up your sinks and you can even sprinkle it in smelly old trainers, carpet and other stuff to get rid of smells. Just vacuum it up after or shake it out.
Microfibre cloths and water are sufficient for lots of cleaning.
Do a little each day saves it turning in to a big job!
Stainless steel polishes well with a little baby oil
keep on top of the dusting and the rest of the cleaning will be far easier
My top tip is to keep on top of it!
I do,like to keep my appliances clean and I will certainly try the natural way to clean my washing machine with bicarbonate and vinegar
I like to do little and often but when I’m doing a deep clean of the house, I tackle a room a day so it doesn’t become overwhelming!
Elbow grease is a great all rounder in the kitchen
My top cleaning tip would be naked sure you have everything you need in a caddy and work your way down
