  1. I go for a walk with the dogs across the fields straight from my house and choose a circular route through public footpaths. I take my phone and take photos of anything and everything. I feel rejuvenated when I get back

  2. I tend to go outdoors and will work myself to a frazzle to cheer myself up. It actually just gets tension out. We dont have an easy life at times, and I get pretty upset at circumstances beyond our control.

  3. These are great ideas. Making notes and reminding ourselves of what to be gratelful for is a really good one! It helps me no end

  4. Reading is the tip of yours that I would be most likely to do. I also find going for a run can help. And doing some crafting is great. It relaxes and focuses me and makes me good when I see some progress being made.

  7. Making notes is a good one, it can help me sleep, if I get whatever’s bothering me out of my head and onto paper!

  8. We all go through a stage where everything can go wrong & everything can look like a hill to climb & I think that is when you need to cheer yourself & move on. These are some great tips to keep the momentum going no matter what happens around you.

  9. My new favourite way to cheer myself up, as odd as it sounds, is to blitz the house give it a good clean and then relax on the sofa with a film on and catch up on some blogging or comping. Having a clean house helps me to relax and I’ve been (reliably?) informed housework is classed as exercise and exercise relase endorphins etc etc. Other than that I agree that reading is a great way to cheer yourself up, I love finding a really good book.

  13. These are good solid ideas for sure. I love being around animals and it always really does give me an emotionally awesome feeling when I can make my pets feel loved and feel good. Family gatherings are also a real booster.

  14. Brilliantly simple advice here. There really is something about managing a long bath and as a mum, managing to shave my legs, to make you feel better. I love the idea of the notes too x

  15. I could pamper all day long! I’ve just got a kitten so I have no choice but to play along with the hunting games lol and my mum is next door to me so I’m happy. I love relaxing to music to aswell and I must try number 5 😀

  16. Pampering myself always seem to cheer me up. I just wish I had more time and focus to be able to work more on myself. I think it’s something us moms fall into easily.

  17. These are awesome tips. I find that making notes really work. Even when I feel angry, I do this. It makes me feel a lot better afterwards.

  18. I am not a coffee drinker. When I am in a bad mood, for some reason a nice glass of mocha and some quite time does the trick.

  21. I agree, there is something about being around animals that cheer me up. Sometimes they find me when I need cheering up and then won’t leave me alone, I also find a good pamper session helps too.

  22. Just looking at that dog pic makes me smile. I can’t resist a glass of wine and an episode of Project Runway when I’m feeling down.

  23. Best way to cheer me up is to see my friends and open a bottle of bubbles, failing that, a good film will help forget any of the stresses.

  24. I blogged about my five ways to make myself happier last week and my top one was to smile because I always think that just smiling to myself makes me happier. I often have a grin on my face when I’m trying to cheer myself up which probably just makes me look weird 😉

    1. Ohh I’m going to have to go and nose at your post now 🙂 I remember being told ages ago that if you pretend you are happy you can sometimes become happy so smiling it probably a very good way – will have to give it a try 🙂 X

  27. Reading always makes me feel better, I think it’s the fact I can get lost in a different world for a short space of time.

  28. I agree with these all! Snuggles with my kitten (& my dragon who just happens to be called Dobby too!) and a nice hot bath (with wine!) are my favourite way to cheer up. This post made me smile though 🙂 x
