  2. This really hits home for my family. Before my mom died a few years ago, she was very vital and independent. In the last 3-4 months, she declined rapidly. It was completely unexpected and we were unprepared for it. It was a wake up call for us moving forward.

  3. This is so important to talk about as the conversation will have to happen anyway. We all have parents who will age and it is essential to keep this as an on-going conversation.

  4. Taking care of older adults does require compassion. We all will grow old one day and it’s always important to remind ourselves that we would want to be treated in a good way too.

  5. It is definitely a good idea to get these things hashed out before the parent(s) are not of sound mind. Death seems to bring out the worst in people and it is a great idea to have things all in order before that time comes.   9. I have been blessed in life to be able to work with the senior adults population. I have worked with those with Alzheimer, mental illness, health issues and many other issues. All of them want to be loved not all of them can express that . I love when I walk into the nursing home dining room say “hello” all and they smile and if they say “morning” I have also dealt with taking care of aging parents as well as losing a parent. You want to do all you can to be there if at all possible

  10. My grandparents always had each other to rely on but now that my grandfather’s dementia is getting worse, I think my grandmother really needs a push alarm pendant. It would put us all at ease.

  11. Ugh. This is just a sad reality we all cannot deny and need to deal with in the future. Thankfully, my parents are insanely proactive… And have taken care of a lot of this for my siblings and I.

  13. This is such an important conversation to have with aging parents.We’ve been asking our parents about where they’d like to go and how they would like to be cared for. And we make sure that we know where the paper work is!
