Lily Blanche Garnet Earrings – Review

Lily Blanche.
Named after the founder Gillian’s, grandmother, Lily Blanche is as bold and brave as the lady it has been named after.
“Lily Blanche Sheridan lived an incredible life. Born in 1903, she moved to India during the 30s with her four children, before returning to the UK at the start of WWII. Sadly her home near Portsmouth took a direct hit during the Blitz, so she once again moved. This time to Scotland after falling in love with the landscape. She is said to have been a wonderful cook and crafter.”
Gillian herself studied archaeology at Edinburgh University with a special interest in ancient jewellery and metalwork techniques. This led to her experimenting with her own designs and in time the birth of Lily Blache as a jewellery brand.
As a company, they look to offer timeless pieces, which will become the heirlooms of tomorrow. They use only precious metal, gemstones and pearls to create many of the pieces within their studio in Stirling. While some of the items have been developed by working closely with artisans in the UK and abroad.
Gillian personally has a special interest in pieces that tell a story. So it is unsurprising that many items include hidden surprises within their range of personalised jewellery.

Lily Blanche – Garnet Earrings in Rose Gold.
I was kindly offered a piece of my choice from the Lily Blanche website and decided to go for these garnet earrings. Which will be the perfect addition to my jewellery box.
I also have a friends wedding coming up and I thought they would make the perfect pair to wear.
These earrings are made with a rose gold vermeil technique. (For those who aren’t sure what that means, the earrings are 18 carat rose gold, on top of sterling silver. Vermeil offers a higher quality finished product than gold plating due to the thicker layer of gold and the fact it is only ever done over 925 sterling silver).
The rose gold used in these earrings offers a beautiful contrast against the garnets, with their multi-faceted cut. This allows the light to catch the stones and helps show off their beautiful colour.
It is hard to get across in the pictures but there is a real depth to these earrings, especially with the complimentary colouring going on.
If you aren’t such a fan of rose gold, these earrings are also offered in gold vermeil and 925 sterling silver. Alongside a matching cocktail ring, if you really want to go all out and match.
Overall Thoughts
Personally, I felt that Lily Blanche offer something really unique. From the moment you open the package you know you are in for something special. They come beautifully presented, wrapped in tissue paper which has been sprayed with Carduus from Jorum Studio. So you are not only treated to a beautiful package but a beautiful scent, helping create a memory.
Inside my package, I also received a jewellery cleaning cloth and a ring sizer (both of which are always useful).
I couldn’t wait to see the earrings and I have to admit I was blown away by the garnets as they caught the light when getting them out. They really are beautiful.
The earrings are well made and feel sturdy, without feeling like they will weigh your ears down. Personally, I feel like Lily Blanche, have really taken pride in every step of their process, from the unboxing to the wearing.
They are definitely a jewellery company I would recommend and buy from both for myself and others in the future.
