How To Create a Sexy Halloween Costume

Anyone can find a good Halloween costume but it takes more work to get a sexy Halloween costume. When 31st October rolls around, many women find that they don’t really want to look scary or gory.

They’d rather look cute in their costume. Here are four tips to making sure your costume will be as sexy as it is creative.

1. Choose one that works with your body

If you were shopping for dresses, you wouldn’t be happy till you found one that looks great on you. Yet for some reason, people don’t put nearly as much effort into shopping for sexy Halloween costumes.

Most sexy costumes involve skirt or dress, but those come in many different styles and shapes. For example, you’ll find sexy Halloween costumes with bubble skirts, flare miniskirts, long flowing gowns and small cocktail dresses.

Think about the styles and shapes that look best on you when you go to the club and focus on dresses that use those elements. Plus, remember that you don’t have to be in a dress.

There are plenty of sexy costumes that can work with leggings (like a cat) or designer jeans (like a sexy pirate). If the idea is for the costume to make men look twice, then start with what looks great on you and build up from there.

2. Hair is crucial

People often put all their time into choosing the costume and then forget about the hair. Hair is an important part of looking sexy anytime and that doesn’t change just because it’s Halloween.

Think about whether you want a wig, veil or hat as part of your costume and then style as needed. With a wig, you’ll mostly just be trying to make sure your natural hair doesn’t peek out (although you know you can style wigs, right?).

Otherwise you’ll want to choose a hair style that works well with both your costume idea overall and with any hat you might be using. In general, leaving your hair down will work for most costume ideas.

3. Keep accessories minimal

Accessories are critical to a good costume but they also draw the attention away from you. If you want your costume to be alluring then it should draw eyes to your body, not to all the crazy stuff you’re wearing or carrying.

For example, a sexy pirate definitely needs a sword and hat, but leave out a parrot or other accessories because they’re just going to distract the eye. Similarly, a sexy witch could have all kinds of accessories, but other than the classic pointed hat (and maybe a wand) you’ll want to leave them at home.

In general, small dainty accessories are going to work better than large bulky ones, even if the larger ones would be more true to the character. And any accessories that breaks the silhouette of your body – such as a backpack for a naughty schoolgirl – is going to ruin the effect.

4. Be careful with masks

Masks are a crucial part of many costumes, but not usually when you’re going for a sexy look. Most commercial masks will mess up your hair, hide your face, quickly get you sweaty and generally put off any potential suitors.

The exception is a half mask that only covers the eyes, which can be a very eloquent look and decorated with feathers or sequins. Otherwise, just use face paint (sparingly) or glitter.
