Home Décor Ideas to Make Your Home Christmas Ready
This is a collaborative post.
I hate to inform you, but we are less than a month from Christmas now. This means it really is time to start planning for the big day, no matter whether you’re keeping it small or going all out.
One of the most fun things for many people in the run-up to Christmas is making your home look and feel festive. From stockings over the fireplace to fully decorated trees, the amount of effort you put in is up to you.
If you are wondering about some fun ways to decorate your home this year, then check out these ideas.
Festive Lights

One of the fun things about Christmas is decorating with lights. We have a road nearby that goes all out with Christmas lights outside their homes.
In fact, they use it as an opportunity to raise money for charity. They even have an official light switch-on celebration, where even Santa shows up to meet the kids.
Of course, you don’t have to go that far. You could instead choose a few strings of fairy lights to frame a door or window.
We have some that go up on a tree outside, which makes the house look really festive.
Christmas Tree

Is it even Christmas if you don’t have a tree? Of course, this always raises the debate of whether you should go for a real or an artificial Christmas tree.
Personally, while there is something magical about a real tree, I find artificial ones are better as they don’t drop needles, and you can always store them away for next year.
Trees these days can also come in various forms. Living in a small bungalow, I’ve found that the mini trees through the post or something handmade, such as a driftwood tree with lights, can really help make for a festive feel while not taking up too much room.
Decorations

Many of us have decorations put away in cupboards or up in the loft that come out year after year. This can really be a great way to save money during this period, rather than buying new each year.
However, if you wanted to buy something new, how about as a family choosing one decoration a year to add to your collection? This means each item has a memory attached to it, offering a tree and home full of memories and festive cheer.
These are, of course, just a few ideas to help you get your home ready for Christmas. Everyone has their own take on how their home should look at Christmas.
I would love to know your top festive decorating tip!

We always installed about 70 sets of outside lights and we always had Christmas cards from strangers thanking us. As we moved last year I do feel sorry for the children that we left.
We have built up a selection of lovely Christmas tree decorations over time since we were married in 2008 and try to buy at least one new decoration each year. Making your own decorations is always a lovely thing to do, especially with the children.
I think it is nice to add something really special to your collection.
Ugh! I love all the decor ideas. I just bought decors yesterday and this is just perfect. Thank you for sharing. I am sure my kids will love this idea.
Ohh I hope you have a wonderful time decorating your home!
Putting up the tree and decorations is my favourite part of Christmas!
Do you have any special decorations you get out year after year?
I love Christmas and putting all the decorations up the boys find it so exciting
I’m quite happy for it to be just a month away now, my shopping is mostly done, the cake is baked and I’m ready to decorate!! Yay
It sounds like you are really prepared already – I wish I was!
These are absolutely the best decor ideas! Our home must look stunning during the festive season, especially Christmas ❤️ Thanks for sharing, hun 🙂
You are so welcome I hope you have a fun time putting together your Christmas decor!
These are great ideas, I find after a while our normal decs look stale and boring
Do you think you will be buying some new ones this year then?
we love using lights but this year we have decided on a new tree and cut down to 300 lights instead of the usual 1000 – these will hopefully go outside (once the weather has calmed down).
I hope you have a wonderful time putting it all together. I don’t blame you cutting down a little.
I have a Christmas tree and it’s artificial. And I love it so much. Christmas tree and decorations are a must!
Aww, I am so glad you have the perfect tree for you. What sort of decorations do you go for?
This is really the only time of year that I go all out to decorate. It’s nice and feels very festive.
I have decorations my son made as a child abs they always come out at Christmas. I also try and add a new decoration every year
Oh I bet they are loving to pull out every year and so very meaningful as well.
Our decorations have been slightly different this year due to having the kittens. I have been putting some bits up and around over the past week and we put the very first tree up today to see how they get on with it x
Oh gosh yeah! Kittens can absolutely love the Christmas decorations, can’t they!
Thank you so much for sharing this really amazing ideas you have! I really enjoy reading this!
Aw thank you so much – I am so glad you enjoyed reading them.
This is really amazing! This will surely help me a lot, we will start buying tomorrow those things needed for the decorations .
Good luck with your shopping I hope you find the perfect products for your Christmas.
I just love Christmas. It’s a wonderful opportunity to get together with loved ones and reflect on things that have happened during the year.
It is nice to get to see everyone isn’t it at Christmas? I think that’s my favourite part of the season.
I need to get all decorations out of their storage box and check for any casualties before I even contemplate putting a tree up. We usually have a real tree, but purchased an artificial one last year as we had been waiting for the installation of our new carpet, so it was much easier to manoeuvre x
Ohh what type of tree are you going for this year? I hope you don’t have too many decoration casualties!
Decorating for Christmas is one of my favorite things to do with my family. We struggle to find inspiration to try new things. Can’t wait to try some of these tips!
I hope they help you build up some fun new Christmas decor traditions!
Yes, lovely ideas! Not yet in the Christmas spirit so haven’t retrieved the decorations from storage. May invest in some pretty lights to get things started.
Ohh definitely there’s nothing like some pretty lights any time of year I think!
Lovely ideas here I particularly like the idea of a new decoration for the tree. I have little glass ornaments with my grandchildrens’ names on them which I bought when they were very young
Oh, that is so lovely and a really special thing to have hanging on your tree every year.
