Getting Back into Fitness With Laura
Today the lovely Laura from MissLJBeauty is here to talk about how to get back on the fitness wagon, after falling off of it.
There is nothing harder than trying to get back into fitness when you have been off the wagon for a while. We are all bombarded with reasons to get fit.
Whether it’s the get fit for summer trend or the constant fitness influencer selfies on Instagram. There is always a reason to get fit.
Let’s face it fitness can be intimidating for us all. The main reason we should be getting fit is for ourselves.
Like the saying goes healthy body, healthy mind. Whatever your reason for getting fit, make sure you are doing it for you.
I want to give you an easy way to get back into fitness without the stress and intimidation.

First, what do you love? Do you love getting out in nature?
Do you like to meet new people? Does the thought of a gym send shivers down your spine?
You need to like what you are doing.
No matter how many times someone tells you I hate going to the gym. If they really hated it they would not go.
Let’s start small.
Walking is a great way to start your fitness journey
Why not add a 15-minute walk into your lunch hour. A walk has a lot of benefits.
This will not only get those legs moving but it will give you a nice calorie burn. It will also clear your mind and let you refocus your mind.
No matter what job you do there is always some stress involved. Nothing will clear your mind like getting some fresh air.
Remember, if you are going for a long walk make sure you are wearing your comfy shoes. There’s no need for professional running shoes or anything like that, an old pair of sneakers with new shoe insoles will do the trick.
Companies like Protalus make wonderful insoles that provide you with additional support and stability.

Cycling
I love to get out on my bike and pedal. There is something freeing about it.
Cycling outside or in the gym is a great way to get a sweat on and burn calories.
It is a low impact sport. When you cycle you are not putting pressure on your muscles or joints unlike running, making it less damaging to your body in the long term.
It also has been proven to improve posture. Let’s face it we all hunch at our desks, any help with posture is always welcome.
Cycling has been proven to help with mental health issues too. Why not do the daily commute on a bike a couple of times a week?
Or get out on your bike on a Sunday morning.

Join a fitness class
This one can be a bit intimidating if you’re not a social butterfly. This can be a great way to not only get fit but make new friends.
There is a huge range of classes available.
Why not pop into your local gym and see what is happening. Fancy trying yoga or spinning?
Why not give it a shot?
If the thought of entering a gym puts the fear in your heart, don’t worry we live in the digital age. You can find loads of YouTube classes online.
You can do some workout classes from the comfort of your own home. There really is something for everyone no matter what level you are at.
The most important thing is to not give up. If you find something you don’t enjoy why not try something else?
You need to find something you like to do. It is hard to break old habits but if you find a new passion then you are more likely to keep on track.
Fitness can be fun and the more you enjoy it the more you will get out of it. Remember this is for you and no one else.

I am trying to do more exercise I prefer to walk than go to the gym.
Great advice, thank you. It’s worth trying a few different forms of exercise to see what works best for you.

Sorry, I meant good intentions. LOL
These are some excellent tips to bring back fitness. I am not a gym person myself. I am wanting to add fitness back also into my routine. After my fasting month is over then I am going to start this with good attentions.
Starting easy with walking is a great way to get back to fitness. This can take so many forms, from just choosing to take the stairs to actually walking around a park, anyone at any age can benefit.
It’s true that with fitness, small steps can make a big difference. A 15 minute walk is an easy step that we can all do!

These are all such great tips. I love walking myself. I enjoy being outdoors and taking a nice walk. It’s my favorite form of exercise, and it’s simple.
What great tips! I am hoping that I will ease back into fitness through the summer. I am doing more than hoping, I am making a plan and sticking to it.
I enjoy walking and I made 10,000 steps a goal before. I thought it would be easy but it wasn’t. LOL. It’s still my goal though.
These are great tips! I’m learning to do the things I like to get me moving and then build upon them. I’m not a fan of the gym because of all the people but perhaps finding a non-busy time will help with that.
With my husbands new diagnosis with sugar and my ongoing with MS we have been trying to implement little extra changes in our fitness routine, or lack there of.. We have started a dedicated walking group with a few family and friends.. So far so good!
Getting back into a workout routine can be hard. Ive been making small steps and committing to them.
I’ve made a commitment to get back at it this month and I’m still going strong.
I’m a walker now since my knees can’t handle peddling on a bike. But I use to love riding my bike
I have found that once I got into a routine it has really become a part of my life that I enjoy. If I miss a workout I feel weird and always want to get it in.
These are awesome tips. I love going for my daily walks. I would love to start back cycling though.
I really enjoy walking, although don’t do half as much as I should do. I need to take advantage of the lighter nights to go for a stroll
I probably should get back into fitness. I am allergic to gyms though. I prefer NOT to go. But I do try to jog daily.
I actually do go to the gym three times a week. Some days I hit it really hard and other days not so much. It’s always better to go with a friend because they can motivate you to keep going.
Great tips for getting back into exercise I find walking is my go to when I want to start upping my fitness levels x
