Brod and Taylor Proofer from BakeryBits

There is also a version which is both a bread proofer and a slow cooker in one, saving you room in the kitchen by eliminating the need for two appliances. The slow cook mode is perfect for soups and stews.
A space saving appliance
One of the great things about the Brod & Taylor Folding Proofer is that it takes up very little room when it’s in storage. The main body folds flat and fits neatly between the base of the proofer and the lid. Its folded height is less than three inches (18 x 14.5-inches length and width) and even the plug fits in neatly. Well, it should do anyway. We couldn’t get ours in and we think this could be due to the UK’s larger plugs – so perhaps that’s a European / American feature only. However, you can’t really complain about that one little thing.
How does it work?
Prior to having the proofer the normal method for making bread dough or sourdough rise was popping it into a warm oven. However, that doesn’t offer a constant temperature. The the Brod & Taylor Folding Proofer allows you to set the desired temperature, pop your bread in and know it is good hands. Being kept at a constant temperature is pretty hard to replicate elsewhere.
Just think of the breeze from doors opening and closing if you’re proofing in the kitchen. If you’re doing it an oven as soon as you turn the heat off, the temperature will start to drop. This means that this proofer is great for more predictable proofing times and a more constant outcome in bread making.
Even keeping the moisture rising around the dough while in proofing has been thought about. The proofer features a wire rack and an included water tray below it for you to place some water in to make sure the humidity is just right. The rack and water helps to stop the dough drying out. It uses an anodised aluminium heating plate to warm the bread – perfect for making sourdough starters!
The simplicity of the Brod & Taylor Folding Proofer is fantastic – it really is just a warm box! The temperature control makes rising bread so easy and something you can (almost) forget about. If you’re an avid fan of baking or perhaps want to give yoghurt making a try then I can really see this being a good addition to your kitchen.

Nice idea, but the bread making machine became more popular for obvious reasons
great idea!
I think these proofers look really great. I’m fortunate in cooking on a Rayburn (like an Aga), and I prove my dough in a bowl beside it with a cloth or clingfilm over it. Works a treat.
Never see that before would be good and keep it fresh
Looks delicious. Bread makers are great for simplicity – we don’t have one yet, though, so I end up having to knead by hand!
I love baking and never would have thought/heard to get something like this before. This is actually a really great idea! Thanks for sharing. 🙂
it’s a really fab idea but a tad too expensive for my pocket sadly
What a fab idea *adds to wish list*
I’ve never made bread like this before but it looks awesome!
oh wow what a great idea, I really want to start making my own bread
