Beyond Brushing: Why Cleaning Between Your Teeth Matters
Brushing my teeth twice a day has always been the obvious part of my dental routine, but a toothbrush can’t quite reach everywhere. It’s those little spaces between your teeth that are harder to get to, which is where interdental cleaning comes in.
It’s something that’s become a normal part of my own evening routine, so when DenTek got in touch about offering a Summer Smile bundle to one of you, I thought it was a good opportunity to talk a little more about it.
Why Clean Between Your Teeth?

The NHS recommends cleaning between your teeth every day using floss or interdental brushes, as this can help remove food, debris and plaque from areas that your toothbrush might not reach.
There are different ways to do this, from traditional floss and floss picks to interdental brushes. If you’re unsure what would work best for you, particularly when it comes to choosing the right size of interdental brush, it’s always worth asking your dentist or hygienist.
For me, interdental brushes have become part of my evening routine alongside my electric toothbrush and mouthwash. I like going to bed knowing I’ve cleaned away everything that’s accumulated throughout the day.
I find interdental brushes much easier than traditional floss too, especially those with a longer handle as they’re easier for me to hold and manoeuvre. They were originally recommended to me by my dentist and they’ve just become one of those things I automatically reach for now.
One thing I hadn’t actually realised until looking into this post is that the NHS recommends using mouthwash at a different time from brushing rather than straight afterwards. This is because using it immediately after brushing can wash away the concentrated fluoride left behind by your toothpaste. So that’s something I’ll be changing in my own routine too!
A Little About DenTek

DenTek specialise in products designed to help clean those areas that your toothbrush might miss, with a range that includes floss picks, interdental brushes and dental picks.
I was also pleased to see DenTek have been thinking about the materials used in their products. This includes the use of bio-based plastics made with renewable raw materials in some products, alongside their Earth Friendly Interdental Brushes, which have birch wood handles.
While DenTek isn’t a brand I’ve personally used before, interdental cleaning itself is already very much part of my everyday routine.

Win a DenTek Bundle. This competition has a mandatory entry; once this is completed, all other entries are optional. The more entry methods you enter via, the more chances you will have in the final draw. I’m sorry I’ve had to bring back mandatory comments; I’m getting too many entries from people not in the UK who are just entering via the visit options only and never visiting my blog, thanks to someone pushing out all competitions via scraping the embed and people not reading terms, and it’s making picking a winner very time-consuming. I will monitor the situation, and if it stops, I will go back to having no mandatory entries.
Open to UK residents only. Giveaway closes 13/09. The winner will be chosen at random and contacted by email. Good luck!
