  1. Someone took me on a date to a really nice turkish restaurant they knew. It ended up being a kebab shop take away and we sat and ate our meals at the small tables that people normally sit on while their waiting to take their food away.

  2. I once went on a date and had way too much red wine. I was very sick in the toilet, needless to say I didn’t get another date.

  4. I was newly moved to the area and keen to meet new people. When my now OH asked ‘Haven’t I seen you somewhere before?’ I laughed at the hackneyed chat-up line. However, the laugh was on me as we HAD met before, about 4 years previously when we were both with other partners (this previous partner being the reason I had moved into the area) and I had obviously made an impression on him!

  5. I went on a cinema date with my husband when we first started going out together. I got stuck in the toilet cubicle before the film started and had to escape over the top of the cubicle, which wasn’t easy. I took so long to appear that my husband was starting to think I’d left the building.

  6. Not really! I’ve had good dates and bad dates but never one with any ‘mishaps’ or anything funny that stood out.

  8. I first met my husband when we were both out on a date with other partners! Together we decided that we should end our relationships and be together instead. Four months later we were engaged and we’ve been married for 45 years!

  10. I went round to my date’s house and he was making us drinks in his kitchen. He asked me to get some glasses out the cupboard so I opened the cupboard door and it swung open a little too forcefully, whacking my date right in the face. He had to sit with frozen peas against his face for the rest of the night and then had to go to work the next day with a rather bruised face.

  12. Yes years ago on a date with a very tall man I am very short I tipped over on my platform shoes as we leaned together to kiss and pushed him over

  13. When on a date many, many years ago, we were gate-crashed by my younger brother who wanted a lift home, so chose to stay with us for the rest of the evening, the date ended quite early!

  14. Out on my first date with my now husband, we went to the cinema with his leg in a cast as he broke it playing football earlier that day. Not particularly funny but certainly memorable
