When Spending Money Can Save You Money
Right now, many of us are looking to tighten our belts and save money where we can due to the extra financial pressures put on us by the pandemic. This is a good thing to do because getting control of your money can help you to stop feeling stressed and worried, and ensure that your financial life is in good order, That being said, there are times when it actually pays to spend a little more if you want to save money in the long-term. Let’s take a look at them now:

Health spending
Spending money on your health, whether it be gym memberships or fancy toothbrushes can actually be a good thing that could potentially save you money in the long-term. Why? Because the healthier you are, the less likely you are to get sick and need time off work, and the less money you’ll need to spend on prescriptions, dental treatments and things like that. So, if it’s for the good of your health, you should never feel bad about squeezing a bit more money out of the budget.
Car maintenance
It’s tempting to save money by skipping your next Audi servicing appointment or not taking your car to the garage when you notice a little niggle with the way it’s running, but chances are this will end up costing you a whole lot more in the future when your lack of care for your vehicle and those little problems return into big problems with an expensive price tag. Not only that, but you need your car to be safe, so spend that little more now for savings (in more ways than one) in the future.
Clothing
Clothes are cheap and plentiful, in this country at least. So, it can be tempting to make savings by buying the lowest cost clothing you can find that you likely there is nothing wrong with this per se, and if you’re on a really strict budget, it may even be sensible. However, if you have a bit more money to put towards your clothing budget, you should consider doing so. Why? Because clothing made from quality materials to a high standard will last many times longer than fast fashion, which means you won’t need to buy so many so often, and you probably will save money in the long-term.
Insurance
You may not think you need that pet insurance or that expensive life insurance policy, but that’s because things are going good right now. What if your dog was to get very ill or your partner was to sadly pass away? How would you cope financially then? The small cost of insurance would pale into insignificance by comparison and you’d be wishing you had that insurance. Don’t end up in that situation and spend a little more now to save in the future.
As you can see, there really are times when spending a little more money is the more sensible option for you and your family so don’t be afraid to do what is necessary and adjust your budget accordingly.
