Lock Of Fur Necklace from A Crafty Mummy UK
Back in April as part of my Etsy Wishlist, I mentioned that I was hoping to get a lock of fur necklace from A Crafty Mummy UK.
As some of you know, we knew Sal was on her final times. We had been given a couple of months in December and yet, she managed to make it all the way to April.
I have to admit with everything going on I had sort of forgotten to get a lock of fur for this. However, a few weeks before we said goodbye, I had picked a little clump from her jumper and popped it in a keepsake box. So off that went to A Crafty Mummy UK.
The Process.
Angela the lovely lady behind A Crafty Mummy UK spent a lot of time talking me.
We started with the shape and size of the necklace I would like. Then moved onto colours and patterns.
I have to admit in the end I got Ash involved as I wasn’t quite sure. I have an affinity with the colour blue and normally that’s what grabs me with anything. However, there was something about this bird print which caught both mine and Ash’s eye.
After all, where is Sal now, but flying high and watching over us?
Once, we had designed the design and popped some fur into the post it was just a matter of waiting.
I had said to Angela, I didn’t particularly want something that had people asking what’s that? I wanted it subtle, something more for me.
So I was interested to see what the finished product looked like.
The Finished Item.
I have to admit I love my necklace, she really managed to pull together my requests.
The fur is subtle enough to not get everyone asking, while still allowing me to feel like she is close by.
The finished piece feels sturdy and hardwearing. I don’t worry about having it on, all day long and carrying that little bit of Sal with me.
My pendant arrived in a little velvet pouch with a lovely quality, simple silver plated chain.
Angela herself is obviously very careful and delicate at what can, of course, be a sensitive time in a person’s life. She looks after your fur or hair and creates something beautiful to keep with you forever. While working with you to make sure it fully meets your own personal needs and tastes.
It is worth noting, that, of course, Angela can work with human or pet hair. You could even look to
have your child’s first curl put into such a piece. Angela can also make other items such as broaches,

It really is such a lovely necklace, it means so much.
A lovely idea, it’s so hard to know how to commemorate your pet’s life, I’m afraid I just have two urns with ashes in as I still don’t want them to leave the home.
It’s hard isn’t it – we have an urn with Sal’s Ash’s as well as I can’t bear to be without her.

It’s a lovely keepsake from your beloved Sally. I lost my dog too at the beginning of May, I don’t have any keepsakes, well maybe some fur on clothes not worn for months. My photos and memories of her are enough.

This is a lovely way to make a keepsake. I have kept fur from all our cats that we’ve had over the years. At the moment I keep the fur in little boxes but this pendant is a nice way to keep the fur on me rather than at home in a box.

It is horrid – I still expect to see her pop up and come at me with her tail wagging, she’ll never be able to be replaced for sure, she had such a special heart.
