Egloo – Heat, Fragrance and Humidify your Home
The weather has most definitely taken a turn for the colder and I’ve got a couple of things I have been holding onto since summer for review.
Mainly as they are most definitely more suited to the colder seasons.
The Egloo is one of them.
Egloo? You What?!
The Egloo was a Kickstarter project, which hit its target 4 times over.
Raising a huge 60,000 euros and is completely handmade in Italy.
It has been designed to not only heat a small room but release fragrance and is likely to be quite unlike anything you have come across before.
The Egloo is a simple to use device. Which can, at the start, look quite complex.
It is made up of 5 different sections; 2 terracotta domes, a terracotta base, steel plate and a grill.
The plate slips easily into the terracotta base. Into this, you want to add three wooden wicks (these are held in place by a magnet). The wax granules are poured in around the wicks, while the reservoir around the outside, holds water and fragrance.
Tell Me More About The Egloo!
When it comes to heating the room, it can take around 15 minutes for the Egloo to reach a temperature where this part kicks in.
Just in case anyone is worried about how to light your Egloo, a normal candle lighter will do the tick. You don’t need anything fancy.
It works by trapping warm air inside and gradually releasing it into the room, this is thanks to the two different size and thickness domes, which work together in harmony.
It can take 15 minutes for the Egloo to reach this point and it is worth mentioning that it can get up to 600 degrees, but it has been made to do this safely. However, of course, please never leave one unattended.
Also please be careful with ventilation, you don’t want to cover any of the given areas and make sure you follow the full instructions, to use this safely.
It is also worth mentioning that the water reservoir is an important part of how the Egloo runs. It works as a cooling system to keep the wax at a consistent temperature. As well as fragrancing and humidifying the room.
I Do Love The Egloo!
It is worth noting that due to the design of the Egloo, the light let off is minimal but it can make for a really nice ambience.
Each wick and natural wax packet last for around 4 hours. It is worth pointing out you should only use the Egloo with the packets they make for safety reasons.
Personally, I think this is a really unique design, I love the fact it heats and fragrances.
It is the perfect addition to any home for the cooler periods. As well as being a fun item to use at outdoor parties to add a bit of warmth and atmosphere to the surroundings.

It is awful when you have no heat isn’t it. Our old flat our upstairs neighbour was awful for leaving her bath running and flooding us. We would have to switch everything off and freeze till an electrician could come out and help us.

I love diffusers and essential oils. This is an interesting heater/ humidifier I have never seen before. I am curious and need to do a little research on this product.

It’s just essential oils you put in so you can put in anything you like.
This looks so good. I don’t usually use anything with flames because of soot.. does it produce little? This looks like a great Christmas gift for my Sister in Laws though. They love candles so this would be a great alternative.
There is a little produced I think but not a huge amount 🙂

I would say it’s as safe as a normal candle. my Dad’s really funny about candles and anything alight and he found this really interesting and let me have it lit in his home. Definitely don’t want to knock it over though lol.

The Egloo looks like a unique and innovative product. Its simple and effective working makes it a nice gadget to use during the winters.

This is such a fabulous idea! I’ve seen similar designs made with simple terracotta plant pots, but this looks much more stylish for the home. A bit out of my price range though.

Love Kickstarter and try to lend my support to many of the new projects. The 4-hr burning / illuminating time is a lot compared to some of the similar products I’ve seen.
It really is – I guess it might be down to the type of wicks it uses perhaps? I have to say I love Kickstarter too.
This is something I’d definitely use in my home. I have something like this that is a smaller version and I use it almost everyday.
