Blue Douglas Tartan Blanket Rug: Review
I nap a lot. I mean, one second I’ll be talking to people, and the next I have decided it would be an excellent time for a nap. This tendency to nap means that rugs, blankets and cushions all play a very important part in my home. They’re perfect for keeping me cosy while I sleep. So when buyakilt.com contacted me and asked if I fancied trying one of their rugs out, I jumped at the chance.
Before I get onto my lovely rug, here’s a little more information about buyakilt.com. They are a Scottish online retailer specialising in kilts, kilt accessories and outfits, and selling some Scottish gifts and clan tartan. They offer a whole range of products from different designers, which means they stock products to suit any style and budget. As a company, they pride themselves on offering detailed information about all their products and having helpful, knowledgeable staff that can be reached online and via telephone.
Blue Douglas Tartan Blanket Rug
When this rug arrived, there was a bit of a scuffle about it. My Dad decided it would make a fantastic fishing rug; my Mum thought it looked terrific on her sofa, and I just wanted a nap – or a picnic. I can’t remember which. It could well have been both.
The Blue Douglas Tartan Blanket Rug is made from 100% wool. It is approximately 5ft by 6ft in size, features a fringed edge, and was made in Pakistan.
The rug is made of a gorgeous thick wool knit, and as you can see, it fits perfectly onto the two-seater sofa (perhaps it is no wonder my Mum wanted it for herself). I am pretty sure it is a rug of many talents as I can see it making a lovely picnic rug for the summer, as well as a wonderful throw for a bed, but I have to admit, for me, it is just lovely to curl up under and have a snooze.
Made of 100% pure wool, this blanket rug has an utterly luxurious feel. It is thick, warm and very, very snuggly. Of course, the fact that these blanket rugs are made using tartan means there is a plethora of colours to choose from, allowing you to get a colour you love, or perhaps you might just be able to find a name you have a link to.
One of the things that surprised me most about this blanket rug was the price. I assumed a pure wool rug would be quite expensive, but, like the website promises, they have prices to suit everyone, and this beauty comes in at a reasonable £25.00.
If you are looking for a new rug for anything this year, I recommend popping over to buyakilt.com and checking out their range of tartan rugs.

I love wool. Ithink it is one of the most underrated materials out there. So many say it is itchy, I have never thought so. I love the colors.

Tartan blankets remind me of picnics in the park on a sunny day in summer! We used to have one when I was a kid and I used to sit and plait the tassels hahah!
I love tartan and I love this blanket. It would look perfect on my sofa by the log burner…would be a bit of a fight with me and my old dog for it 🙂

I do love me a snuggly blanket, especially at this time of year when the heating is off but the evenings can still be a bit chilly! Will check out the website as I had not heard of them before…
I was really shocked when you said the price. That is such a great price. I remember my grandmother buying one when i was younger and it was very expensive x
most of my family were born in scotland; on special occasions some of the men wear kilt’s in our clan’s own tartan. so since i was little ive loved tartan. theses rugs look comfy and cosy and can imagine myself wrapped up in one with a hot drink and a good book.
Looks so nice reminds me of scotland .x
i like all sorts of blankets, we have a huge collection, but the only tartan one we had i threw away, didnt prove to be too god after washing
That’s a beautiful tartan and the rug is a good size.
i love a bit of tartan, and i love blankets (i’m a napper too, but mostly just cold a lot) so i really like this! is there a particular reason it’s so cheap though? most pure wool blankets and other items i’ve seen are really pricey.
I love that tartan rug. It reminds me of my gran she always had one in her house in red. I think it looks great quality too. What a steal at that price as well!
I love blankets like this so versatile, we have a similar one in the car at all times x
mmmm… nap!!! looks lovely and snuggly
Yes, it does look lovely but at that price, my first question would be ‘Is it FairTrade’?
I love these tartan rugs it takes me back to my childhood as my Mum had so many; now I have quite a few as they are so lovely and thick, warm and strong. Weve used them for picnics the pets and of course sofa throws etc. Love that blue in yours its gorgeous.
