Cosy, Calm and Very Festive: My Stress-Free Christmas Gift Guide
Christmas gifting always sounds so magical in theory… until you’re up to your eyeballs in delivery dates, half-written lists, and that creeping feeling you’ve definitely forgotten someone. Every year I tell myself I’ll be more organised, and every year, I still end up panic-scrolling at midnight.
This year, though, I’ve been trying to make things a lot simpler, making for less stress, more cosy and hopefully more time for fairy lights, cheesy films and festive snacks, which means that I will spend less time overthinking every single present. Very kindly sent over a selection of gifts, and they’ve slotted perfectly into my “make Christmas easier, not more hectic” plan.
Here’s how I’m using them to create a Christmas that feels special and stress-free.
Slowing Down the Countdown: Christmas Puzzle Advent

Instead of another chocolate advent calendar, I’ve been loving this idea of a more mindful option: a Christmas puzzle advent. Each day, you open a little door, build a mini festive scene, and have a few minutes of calm. Each mini puzzle comes together to create a larger picture at the end, too.
For me, it does two things at once:
- Offers a small ritual in the evening, which actually makes me stop and pause
- Doubles up as a gorgeous gift for any puzzle fan in the family
If you’re someone who finds December a bit overwhelming, things like this are such a gentle way to add joy. It’s also a great gift for older kids, parents or grandparents who like something a bit different.
Easy Wins for Foodies: A Christmas Gift Box

There’s always that one person who says “I don’t need anything” and means it, but also lights up when they’re handed a box full of treats.
A festive food hamper is my go-to “I want you to feel spoiled, but I don’t have the brain space for guessing sizes, colours or hobbies” gift. You can pop it under the tree or crack it open on Christmas Eve, and it instantly feels like a luxury treat, even if you’re in your scruffiest pyjamas.
It’s perfect for:
- In-laws, you’re never sure what to buy
- Neighbours who’ve helped you out during the year
- Friends who would always rather have snacks than stuff
A gift that doesn’t take a lot of thought, but is always well received, after all, who doesn’t like to find a treat under the tree?
The Big Wow Gift: PlayStation 5 Portal Remote Player

If you’ve got a gamer in your life, this one is for the big present slot. The PlayStation 5 Portal Remote Player lets you play PS5 games away from the main TV, which is a game-changer in a busy household. Or in one like ours, when we only have 1 TV and a lot of time at home due to health issues.
It means:
- No more arguing over “Christmas movie vs console”
- Someone can curl up in a corner and play in peace
- You can shut yourself off a bit in your own gaming world, essential if your energy is limited
It’s one of those “wow” gifts that also quietly helps keep the day calmer. Big smile from the gamer, less tension around the TV. Win–win.
Sparkle Without the Stress: Jewellery Gifts Made Easy

Jewellery is one of my favourite ways to make someone feel really thought of, but it can be nerve-wracking choosing the right thing. This year, I’ve gone for a simple, elegant clover necklace in a gift box; classic, pretty, and easy to wear with pretty much anything.
If you’re browsing for jewellery gifts for someone special, pieces like this are ideal. They feel personal and meaningful, but you’re not trying to guess something super bold that they might never wear. The fact that it comes boxed means one less thing for me to sort through, no more last-minute scramble for something that looks presentable.
Little Bits of Disney Magic

I am absolutely a sucker for cute Disney bits, and these have properly made me smile:
- A soft, glowing Winnie the Pooh “hunny” light that’s perfect for a bedroom or a cosy reading nook. It gives off that warm, comforting glow that makes everything feel a little softer.
- Lilo & Stitch mini backpack mystery bag charms that are perfect stocking fillers or Secret Santa gifts. Small, fun, and still feel special, not just another generic novelty.
If you’re hunting down the best kids toys or little extras to bulk out stockings, Very’s range of toys makes it really easy to pop a few fun bits into your basket alongside the “main” presents.
Crafting Memories: LEGO Christmas Ornaments

The LEGO Christmas ornament set has been such a cosy find. You build the ornaments, hang them on the tree, and they can become part of your Christmas decor year after year.
It’s brilliant for:
- Keeping little hands busy while you’re wrapping
- Creating a low-pressure family activity
- Adding a personal touch to your tree without needing to be “artsy”
It’s exactly the kind of gift I love, something to do, not just something to own.
A Little Bit Extra (In the Best Way): So Chill Mini Fridge

The So Chill Mini Fridge in pink might just be my new favourite “this is completely unnecessary but absolutely delightful” present.
You can:
- Store skincare in it for a cooling, spa-like treat
- Use it as a mini drinks fridge in a bedroom or office
- Build a tiny “self-care station” with masks, mists and treats
It’s such a fun gift for teens, beauty lovers, or anyone who enjoys a bit of pampering. It gets that “Oh my gosh!” reaction when it’s unwrapped, which is always satisfying. Plus, you can decorate it to your liking thanks to the included stickers!
My Stress-Free Christmas Gifting Checklist
Because my energy is limited and my brain likes to tap out halfway through December, I’ve been trying to take a simpler approach this year:
- One main shopping spot – I’m getting as many gifts as possible from Very, from the best kids’ toys to jewellery, hampers and tech. Fewer orders, less admin, more brain space.
- Mix big gifts with “moment” gifts – The PS5 Portal might be a showstopper, but things like the puzzle advent, LEGO ornaments and Pooh light create moments of joy for the recipient.
- Choose built-in traditions – Anything that naturally fits into our routines (evening puzzles, movie nights, decorating the tree) gets a big yes from me.
- Rely on easy wins – Hampers, jewellery gifts, mini fridges and cute Disney pieces are my “no overthinking required” picks.
- Wrap as I go – As parcels arrive, I pop on a festive film, make a hot drink, and wrap a few at a time so I’m not buried under a mountain of paper on Christmas Eve.
This year, I’m trying really hard to remember that Christmas doesn’t have to be perfect to be special. With everything from toys and gaming tech to foodie treats and jewellery in one place at Very.co.uk, I’ve actually felt more on top of gifting than I have in years.
Most importantly, it’s freed up a little bit more energy for the good stuff: the cosy evenings, the daft traditions, the people I love, and yes, the occasional nap under a blanket while the fairy lights are on.
How are you making Christmas easier on yourself this year?

I don’t do calm
We are breaking with tradition and going to the local Indian for Christmas Dinner. No cooking or washing up for me!
Ohh that sounds lovely – I hope you have a wonderful time.
Very lovely ideas, i would definitely steal a couple of those. Cheers!
Which ones are you eyeing up?
I’m definitely wrapping as I go along this year and making a list of what I have wrapped.
It makes a big difference you don’t get that overwhelmed feeling you get with so many presents.
Fortunately my husband is a brilliant packer of presents although he does rather overdo the sellotape! He only does a few at a time so as I buy them he wraps them. This year I am making hampers for a few friends. I can spread the cost this way, buying a few items at a time in the lead up to Christmas
That’s a really good ideas, it’s amazing how quickly things add up in how much they are costing at Christmas. I have to admit I do use Park as well and save a little each month towards a voucher.
Yes I use Park too for vouchers
They are so useful aren’t they?! I don’t know how I would manage Christmas without them.
“Wrap as you go” is a great tip, just need to get some wrapping paper!
It is such a good idea and you can just label things up – I gave some to my parents the other day as they are more likely to see the people they are for than me. I was amazed I had done it so early.
