I remember back when we moved into this home, I loved thinking about how I wanted everything done, the walls had all been freshly painted in a neutral colour so we left those, (something I now regret for a couple of reasons), but we had the fun of picking new flooring and even getting all new furniture for the bedroom.
While we decided to get the main bulk of the property done using vinyl due to ease of cleaning with Sally (she's getting on a bit in years now and sadly accidents happen), we had to keep the bedroom carpeted as there is something wonderful about getting up in the morning and feeling a nice soft carpet squished between your toes, rather than a cold hard floor.
Perhaps I am a little strange (who knew), but I love shopping for carpet; walking around the show room and looking at all the different colours, running your fingers over any you like to check out exactly how it might feel under your feet. I was a pain for saying I do love this colour but the pile.. No not thick enough.
The beauty is, these days, there are so many choices when it comes to carpet and you don't have to spend a fortune to make your room really look beautiful, with ideas such as the super practical yet still stylish twist, coming in at just £5.99 per m2, you can really make a difference to a room by just changing the flooring.
My one tip when it comes to carpet shopping would be, ask if you can see you chosen colour in a number of different light settings, while I love the carpet we finally went with in the bedroom, it was a lot lighter than it looked in store and I think seeing it in natural light would have highlighted this point prior to purchase and I could have perhaps gone for something a little darker.
What's your favourite type of flooring?
