The Bedding Company – Silentnight Pillow Protector: Review

Silentnight Quilted Pillow ProtectorWhen I first moved out of home many moons ago I found it so funny my Mum was telling me to buy mattress and pillow protectors I mean wasn't that what the pillow case was for as well as making it look pretty? I soon enough found out it wasn't when pillows needed throwing away quickly, getting stained and worst of all getting mouldy due to the damp flat I lived in back then. So ever since I have always made sure I had pillow and mattress protector on my bed well I had in the past.

Back when we moved it had been decided we would get a new bed and grab the change to upgrade to a king size so I decided I might as well just though out all the bedding and order us some brand new bits but sadly the shop I was buying from cancelled the pillow protector part of my order due to stock levels and I just haven't got around to replacing them as of yet. So when The Bedding Company asked me to review something from their site I was thrilled when a Silentnight pillow protector dropped through the door.

I have to admit in the short time I was without a pillow protector I did feel a difference which surprised me as I assumed it was just there for protection. Whereas in fact I also found my pillow would end up feeling more scrunched and flat by the morning. Since I have been using the Silentnight quilted pillow protector my pillows really seem to be kept in much more of a good shape overnight feeling more plump and shapely of a morning. I guess that is down to the fact it is filled with hollow fibres and bringing just a little more comfort to your night's sleep.

It really has amazed me just how much those little pillow protectors do – and for only a few pounds! The Bedding Company sent me the: Silentnight Quilted Pillow ProtectorΒ which comes in at just Β£2.99 for one or Β£4.99 for two.

Do you use pillow protectors; do they make a difference for you?

We use pillow protectors and find them very useful… they do make a difference in keeping pillows clean especially when someone is ill and has a fever

Honestly, I’ve never even heard of them before! I use a pillow topper on my mattress, so I guess I use that as a protector, and like the “old” you I thought the pillowcases job was kinda that. πŸ™‚

    • Sarah-Louise Bailey

It’s a little like a topper but thinner I believe as it’s only slightly padded :). I’m so glad I’m not the only one who thinks/thought that phew! x

These would be perfect to use on the kiddies pillows. My granddaughter sweats like nothing else.

We travel a lot… sometimes when I forget to take my pillow with me, I have to use a motel pillow… I would love to have a pillow protector to protect me from germs that others leave behind.

I’m in the midst of a move and would think of using bedding and pillow protectors for our next place. Being in Florida, the humidity takes a huge toll on bedding.

  10. Tess

I really could use pillow protectors! We go through pillows like crazy. : )

I never thought about getting a pillow protector for my own pillow – although it is a must for our Boppy and older daughter’s pillows. I may have to do that when we buy new pillows soon. I like the idea!

I haven’t thought of using pillow protectors since my kids were little. It does sound like it really helps when you live in a humid climate. I will have to look into these.

  15. Pam

I don’t use pillow protectors but I do use mattress protectors on all my beds. My husband used to travel a lot and I didn’t want bedbugs!

  16. Amber Mabry

I have never used a pillow protector but it sounds pretty interesting!

  17. Sarah Cooper

I have used mattress protectors in the past for the kids but never pillow protectors. Good idea though!

  18. KimmyK

I think it would be so much easier if pillows would just come with a pillow protector included but I guess they make more money this way.

  19. Tough Cookie Mommy

We’ve learned the hard way the importance of pillow and mattress protectors when you have kids. There always seems to be some kind of spill or accident.

  20. Shelley Jessup

haha I had the same reaction when my auntie said about pillow & mattress protectors! I find most of them make me sweat but you can getting certain ones that are somehow cooling for the skin & that’s what I use. They are much more hygienic too.

  21. Pam

I have pillow protectors on all of my pillows in all of my bedrooms. So much easier to maintain. I wouldn’t be without.

  22. T. Marie

I have never used a pillow protector but given the state of my favorite pillow I think I should start. It has gotten some strange staining I can explain. I need to invest in some pillo protectors next time I go shopping.

They are a great brand aren’t they I have to say I think my duvets from them have lasted much better than more expensive ones from different brands x

  24. Charlotte Elizabeth

These are such a clever idea, I would never of thought of even buying these, there not to badly priced either.
Fab review, I have silent night pillows and they are like hotel pillows πŸ™‚

  25. Nancy

No, I don’t use pillow protectors but am thinking about it.

  26. Stormy Gonzalez

I love my pillow protectors! It makes it super simple to wash/disinfect when someone is sick, or not feeling so hot. The plastic ones wear out fast and my kids always say its “noisy,” so we use the cotton ones now.

  27. Robyn

I so need this. My daughter always stains her pillow.

  28. Maya Russell

I think pillow protecters are a must. These are such good value!

  29. Reader

We’re a big fan of Silentnight- love their pillows and duvets too!
We’ve been using pillow cases for years and years, and can’t imagine just putting a pillow case on a pillow without having the pillow protector on underneath! πŸ™‚
