Home, Garden and Pets

If money was no issue.

I think many of us sit and dream about what we would do if we suddenly had money to spare, especially the sort of money that meant we could buy a home, be well off for the rest of our lives and still have enough to splash out on things.

While of course I would be the first person to be buying expensive jewellery (oh all the rings I could buy), update my wardrobe, buy some new handbags, all those normal things, if I was in such a situation. I also have a bit of a secret love for antiques.

Many antiques make me wonder what they have seen, who's hands have they passed through, what stories they could tell if only they spoke. Just imagine the lives that have passed before them, as they sat in a room in a family’s home.

As well as the stories, I often think they seem to have had so much love and detailing put into making them. These days we mass produce so many things, we seem to have lost that finishing touch, which is perhaps more often seen with antiques.

When it comes to the items I am drawn to; they are often intricately designed, with many made of a dark wood or perhaps bronze. They have to jump out at me, they may not be something other people will choose, but they have to leave me feeling intrigued and as if I want to reach out and touch them and of course be something I think I could look at for years to come.

The trouble is where do you find such things? Of course theire are auctions, but for many, they may perhaps find they buy things in the moment, with the excitement of the room taking hold. So for people who perhaps want to browse and shop at their leisure Xupes might be the answer. This online luxury store, not only sells the most beautiful antiques, but second hand designer jewellery, watches and handbags, saving you a huge 70% on the RRP of some items.

If you could go shopping and not worry about the price, what would you buy?

If money was no issue then the first thing I’d do (like most) would be to clear off my mortgage then I’d just go to Selfridges beauty department (and hire it out so there were no other people about) and go crazy! haha x

I inherited my grandmother’s cedar chest, and it’s one of my favorite things in our home. I love knowing that it’s held our family’s belongings for decades.

Clear mortgage, new carpets for the whole house, new cooker and deep freeze, sort the garden…so many things that seem unreachable it’s no wonder I just spend any ‘spare’ money on chocolate, lol.
