SelectSpecs.com Review.

I’ve had to wear glasses since I was 6 or 7, when I hit 11 they became something I wore full time over the years I’ve had all manner of frames, the ones you will see we wear in most pictures I’ve stuck with for years, I’ve not sure how many actual identical pairs I have now, as I just find it so hard to find a pair that are comfortable and durable if they are lacking in either area for someone who wears them all the time it could be quite dire if something went wrong. So when I saw selectspecs.com asking for bloggers to review their glasses I jumped at the chance.
selectspecs.com glasses range from just £6 right up to £100s – I was given the chance to review something from the Economy range which cost between £10 and £25. Each pair of prescription glasses they sell also come with free standard lenses, UV protective, anti-reflective and scratch resistant coating and of course is safely housed in a case with a cloth.

The site is really easy to navigate you can easily search by price range, gender or frame type. I was a bit sceptical when it came to the lenses, my voucher covered the frame cost alone if I didn’t get free lenses I would have had to have paid, and having nosed on other similar sites my prescription often doesn’t come under the ‘free’ section as they need extra thinning – which can add quite a bit to the cost of glasses for me. But Selectspec even offer thin and light lenses for free! (Obviously this won’t cover you if you need Ultra or UltraX but it’s worth looking into if you’re on the first band of needing your lenses thinned.)

selectspecs.com Orion 1158 frames in red glasses

I decided to go for the Orion 1158 frames in red which normally cost £22.50, I admit it the pretty sides got me!
It takes around 14 working days for them to make and dispatch the glasses and postage is an extra £4 on top of the frame price (and any other costs).

I was really surprised when these glasses turned up – I expected the lenses to be awful and the frames to be flimsy but I was so surprised, I can actually see well through the lenses they seem to have got my prescription just right. The frames are really quite sturdy, they are a comfortable fit which considering they didn’t measure me like the opticians do then fiddle with them for ages both me and my Mum were amazed at.
Am I completely turned to the Orion side – no – I do love my silver specs, but I will definitely be using them, and ordering more when my prescription changes because as a second / back up pair they are brilliant, plus for anyone who loves to change their frames all the time these would really be amazing.
What would be your perfect pair of specs?

  1. These are great.  My fave specs would be bigger frames.  The little popular frames now are too small for my face (props to grandpa for giving me such a big head, lol).

  2. I was just saying to by hubby the other day I wanted to treat myself to some new glasses I might have to check these out for the price

  3. I struggle to find “the right pair” in terms of specs.. these days it’s quite a plain black rectangular frame, though I miss the one time I had a pair of Lulu Guinness specs with butterflies running down the sides! If only they suited properly, they would be my perfect pair. Anywho- good to know there’s a place where I could get a spare pair- I ride a motorbike but wear specs full time, so they get bent out of shape quite quickly by pressure from the helmet. I’ll definitely be having a look on their site, and keeping them in mind.

  4. It is so hard to find the perfect pair – I’ve worn the same Red or Dead ones for 5 + years now – luckily they seem to not go out of their range so there either classics or popular lol.
But as a spare pair these glasses and the site are amazing, definitely good if you’re doing something where they might end up ruined lol x
