The first time I saw these wands I wanted to try them out but part of me has always wondered are they worth the price well Find Me a Gift came to the rescue for me just a few weeks back and sent me one to try! So hopefully for all you other magic makers out there I can shed a bit of light on this magical gizmo!
In case you are yet to work out what in Harry Potter’s name I may be talking about it is of course the Magic Wand Remote Control, many will have seen this invention on Dragon’s Den who of course saw the potential and made it accessible to us all. But is it really as simple to use as they like to make out, or is it just all show.
The wand comes beautifully packaged in this lined box with instructions on how to perfect the the 13 different wand shakes you have to learn, from simple rolling to more spectacular wand flushing movements, once you have perfected these movements it’s just a matter of teaching it the commands you wish it to know. They could be for your TV, stereo or DVD player, anything that using an infrared remote control.
The wand communicates by a discreet set of pulses that tell you if you are performing moves right and which mode you are in.
We set our wand up to control volume and channels, we easily got the right moves going with the pulses being lovely and telling us we were right on track, but it did take a few tries to get the communication with the sky box up and running, the wand obviously isn’t quite as powerful as your everyday remote, meaning pointing it in any direction won’t do the trick.
My last worry was would it jump, would I suddenly have a full volume TV, on be on some random channel in the 900s but it doesn’t jump or skip, in fact it works slightly slowly than your normal remote as it has to completely register and finish an action before you can do another so no sudden deafening moments to be had.
To be honest this wand’s so simple to set up and use you could do it lying down!
I wouldn’t use this to replace my sky remote full time, mainly as trying to get it to learn to go to recorded and choose a programme might just bit a bit hard. But it will definitely become a well used wand, from bring out when people, to just ‘because’.
So yes this is a bit of nonsense, a laugh and true fun, but it is also a fully functioning remote that you can use to astound your friends and family.
To grab yourself a wand head over to Find Me a Gift where you can pick one up for £49.99.
Have you given the wand remote and flourish, what do you think of it?
*Price correct at time of publication but they are subject to change.
**Wand received free of charge for reviewing purposes but all thoughts are completely honest.
How cool id that! My daughters & I love Harry Potter! We’ve been fans since the first book was launched, so this is right up our street, as Hermoine says “you just flick & swish”
Gotta get one of these for them for Christmas!
I definitely need a wand, and would be happy with the doggy too.
Oh my you so should they are fantastic!! Even if it’s for you rather than them
xx
The wand Find Me a Gift can help you with – but I’m afraid Sal’s not for sale! xx
A very good present idea. Might need one, though, as the dog chewed up one of our remotes yesterday!
Oh no!! Sal ran off with a rubber duck yesterday no quite so dire though!! xx
This is fab… Lovely gift…
And yesterday he tore into the vinyl flooring in the kitchen, which had been glued back by a previous puppy chewing. Definitely need to buy some more chews today.
Oh no!! What a night little thing! hehe. Does he give you the puppy eyes after as if to say it wasn’t me lolx
