I’ve put on a LOT of weight in the past 2 – 3 years, being less active due to my medical problems on top of not being able to cook so relying too much on fast food has taken its toll and if I carry on as I am well I hate to even think what size I will be in another 2 – 3 years if my mobility doesn’t get better. Of course it’s not just how it makes me feel, there’s the extra pressure it puts on these already not to grand joints of mine making moving even harder. So really I am just sabotaging myself. (We won’t even go into the fact I’m an emotional eater as well). Having tried cutting down myself, which fails as really I don’t know anything when it comes to food – what makes a balanced diet? To living on shakes and I have to admit I like eating too much – I enjoy chewing so shake diets just end in me wanting to binge eat. So when I was offered a two week trial of Jenny Craig in return for telling you all about my experiences how could I say no?So I am written this on the evening of day one – my supplies arrived on Wednesday and I took up the challenge to begin on Thursday which co-insides with my first call from my consultant.
Just a selection of what comes in a two week pack – I’ve tried to include all the different items in the picture. The large folder at the back is full of so much information I’ve not yet managed to take it all in but the Jenny Craig diet is very much based on 3 elements:
1. Mind – making sure you are supported all the way by a consultant, your consultant is someone who will ring you each week and talk to you about your progress, this person won’t change (bar when they have holidays as I’m sure they are allowed those right?) I can’t go into what the consultants do and don’t do at the moment as I’ve only spoken to mine once but I shall definitely revisit there input again.
2. Food – Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner and a Snack are all provided in the plan – you are asked to add certain things which I shall go into later.
3. Body – Your consultant will work with you to personalise an exercise plan to help with your weight loss.
Your meals each day are pre-planned for you so you don’t have to look into your box and wonder what am I going to eat! My first week looks like this: (remember you can click to enlarge).
You can move around the meals you eat each day to fit in better with you – as you might have noticed I had crossed out ‘dinner’ but not ‘lunch’ – I decided to swap them around and have the gorgeous chicken and mash for lunch. As you can see in the bottom left you are reminded to add in free foods, a list of these is included in your pack, you are also told to include as much veg and salad with your meals.
Anyway I feel like I might be giving you all as well as myself information over load. So I shall leave this post for now and be back often over the next 2 weeks with information and updates.
Wish me luck!
*I am receiving two weeks free in return for my honest reviews.
You do seem to get a lot of food for two weeks, I’ll be following this with interest as its a lot of money, but worth it if it works.
Like yourself I have mobility problem & I’m no longer a size 6-8 I used to be hell you can add a one infront of them if I’m honest, but three months off & on in traction does that to you! I still had to eat & being a bit down I as usual ate the wrong things!
Best of luck with this challenge, please keep us informed of yor progress
Looking forward to hearing how this goes! Argh don’t get me started on emotional eating >:( x
The best of luck to you, I hope you see some good results. I look forward to reading how you get on.
I hope it works for you! It looks healthy. Just be careful to have reasonable sized portions of your add ins.
I’m actually trying to put weight om at the minute, which I’m, finding harder than I ever found it to lose weight in the first place!
Uni stress saw me shrink from a size 10 to a size 6-8 and I HATE being this thin. Clothes hang off because I have no boobs anymore to help keep them up! Strapless tops/dresses are also a thing of the past.
Good luck with all this but remember that being too thin is not fun at all either. I hope you can reach an ideal weight that you are happy with. I’ve heard lots of promising things about Jenny Craig and that meal plan actually sounds rather yummy!
Very true words. Things work both ways. Good luck with putting some weight on!
I’m very concious about it really – I just want to give my joints more of a chance and be more healthy, and that’s what this is about I don’t have a ‘perfect dress size’ I want to be I just want to be a healthy size. xx
It’s weird I think I took moving for granted so much – I’d love to be able to the free moving person I once was.
So far I’m feeling very full and wondering how eating so much will transfer into weight loss.. Though I guess it’s eating more of the right things?
Thank you x

The spoon helps with sizing a lot of items and giving with a size guide.. So say when you have yoghurt you have a spoon or 1/2 a spoon depending, most fruit is free and tbh I love fruit so snacking on that isn’t to hard for me. And the afternoon snack involves chocolate so I don’t feel like I’m missing out on a bit of choc!
How is it going? Just keep motivated, have you got a big event coming up this year you can aim at?
My son is getting married in August & I’m determined to be a bit more toned & slimmer than I am now – ok I confess I had three chocolates last night, but it was the Lord of the Ring s that made me do it!
I studied English in school as a specialized subject & my teacher Mr Bird loved these books – but for four years these where the top of the agenda! Can’t take it any more. LOL
But back on track today had my yummy porridge for breakfast – I always do anyhow lol.
I’m really interested in this and have been wondering for a while if it would work for me. thanks for the detailed explanation of how it works – I look forward to reading about how you get on
good luck!
It’s going well so far – had a lunch off today as it was my Mum’s birthday celebration but I was better than I would have been in the past. Lots of veg and not so many roasties. Most of the food I’ve liked – I wont say too much here
. No big events this year – couple of weddings next year to go to so would be nice if I looked a bit better for them.
You have to let yourself off sometimes – it’s no good trying to be extra good all the time or that will lead to a big binge moderation is everything I think.
Good luck on getting yourself toned and looking slimmer for your sons wedding and congratulations on being mother of the groom. xx
I wish you continued success with Jenny Craig. No matter what venue you choose on your weight loss journey, I admire your determination.
