How Observant..

Have you ever wondered how observant your other half is? Would they notice if you were wearing a new lipstick or dress?

Or would it take something like you dyeing your hair bright pink for them to notice something looks slightly different about you?

I was contacted around a month to see if I fancied putting Ash to the test and see just how observant he is. The challenge I was set was putting together three tests, to see if he would notice any of the ‘different’ things I had done.

Before I get onto what I did, let me tell you about Ash and just how his sight works, as it is in fact rather curious. Let’s say I was to hide a box of his favourite sweets, just the smallest of corners peeking out from its hiding place, he would notice it very quickly.

If I was to move his stack of games under the TV around a little he would notice it. However when it comes to other things, I sometimes wonder if he would notice if I shaved my hair off and started sticking my tongue out all the time.

Challenge 1. Change of Glasses.

Glasses

I guess this one is the most subtle change, they are a larger frame that has changed from a silver colour to a deep red, but overall the change isn’t overwhelming – I haven’t gone from rectangular to circle or changed from silver to pink. Ash knew I was due new glasses he just didn’t know exactly when I was going to pick them up.

I decided the best thing to do was pick him up from work wearing them, the next couple of hours, were filled with a few odd looks, when I thought he might just be working out I had something different going on. But alas as bedtime rolled around, I gave in and asked him what he thought of my new glasses.

Challenge 2. Googly Eye.

This one is my Mums fault – I was going to down the necklace route, but she thought it would be amazing to use a googly eye, so there I was last Saturday evening and I decided to stick one of those little monsters on my forehead and see what happened and to be honest I wish I had had a camera on me.

I was sat on the bed, having a bit of a read and Ash poked his head around the door took one look at me and ducked back into the hall way – before looking quickly again and exclaiming WHAT THE and walking off muttering something about me being a mad women.

Challenge 3. Footstool

Small Leather Footstool

The last and perhaps biggest challenge of the three was to pop this footstool in the lounge and see if he noticed that my feet suddenly had a new comfy home, one that was mine – yes mine, mine, mine!

This little beaut was sent to me by Footstools 2U and costs £119.00, it comes in a variety of leathers with  a couple of different feet to choose from, (for those who don’t like leather there is also a number of cloth options available for £109.00).

The footstool itself is lovely – although it is only small it is just right for popping your feet up at any time of day (it is approximately 8 inches in height) and very well made.

So did Ash notice the new addition to the lounge? Well sadly not.

Though my Dad did and has even gone as far as to use as a seat and apparently even then it gets a huge A*.

So what have I learnt from this? Well that I need to do something really stupid like stick googly eyes on me to A. make Ash noticed and B. also scare him slightly.

I guess it’s a good job I had to buy a pack of 50 for the job. But overall I guess 1 out 3 isn’t too bad – perhaps he’s a little more observant than I thought at first.

How observant is your other half? Would they have picked up on any of these changes?

*I was provided a footstool free of charge for the purposes of this post.

The googly eye really made me giggle!

Azii would notice the foot stool and probably the glasses too - He's the most weirdly observant man I've ever known, THOUGH I think he's becoming immune to me babbling random rubbish at him all the time as he doesn't listen quite as much as he used to. I used to think he wasn't listening to me but he'd be able to repeat it all back to me word for word... but recently I've caught him out a few times.

He'd notice the googly eye but not say much because he's used to it. I couldn't get warm the other day and my mum said I'd warm up if I put something on my head so I put the closest thing to hand on my head, which was a cushion, and Azii looked at me, looked at my friend and said 'I'm used to it' ... yeah xxx

Sadly, my husband would notice the second I tried to put new furniture in the house, otherwise I'd love a new footstool, or any other piece of furniture really. Nice new frames, by the way.

haha I love this! I'm not sure my hubby would even notice the third eye! He lives in his own little world the majority of the time bless him! x
