Help me choose – Dr. Martens

Dr. Martens Logo
Since my walking’s got worse I’ve not been able to wear a lot of my favourite shoes one of which is very sadly my favourite pair of red heals my gorgeous pair of Dr. Martens – so I have come to the conclusion I must get myself a pair of flat’s so at least I still have a pair I can wear. This is where you all come in. I don’t know which pair to choose so I want your help!

For anyone who hasn’t heard of Dr. Martens. (Is there anyone who hasn’t?) They are a collaboration between Doctor Klaus Maetens of Munich and the Griggs family of Northampton. Comfortable, durable and of course featuring the first air cushioned sole they are to wear (for me) like walking on air. The first pair rolled into the shops on the 1st April 1960 and named after the date 1460. Now more than 50 years later they are just as popular and with their ability to bring out new styles, colours and patterns I can’t see their popularity diminishing any time soon.

And so without further ado here’s what I am thinking:
Dr. Martens Melody
Melody - £81

So different from the ‘normal’ Dr. Marten Boots and in fact that’s what draws me to these oddly, but of course the soles still make it obviously Dr. M.

Tana – £105

I’m thinking ease of getting on with these, just slip on and go?

Dr. Martens1460
1460 – £122

I couldn’t not include a pair of 1460′s and for some reason I just adore this colour.

So which one do you think I should go for? Or am I missing out on a perfect pair that you know about and could perhaps kindly show me?

*Yes this is a sponsored post BUT I really do need help I’m stuck on what to buy :( .

  1. I also have a problem with my feet but more to do with my heels. I have loved Dr. Marten Boots since I was a teenager. My first pair were 1460 boots in red and I have had a few more styles and colours since. My 1460 purple pair are my most treasured and worn. I have tried many other makes of shoes/boots and always end up with trouble walking through heel pain so Ive now given up and stick with my trusted Dr. Martens. Last year I went for a pair of Christina shoes and these are now my summer shoes. They are very comfortable and cool. At the moment you can get 30% off these on the official website http://store.drmartens.co.uk/p-233-christina.aspx using the code TAKE30. I have also seen the Marie shoe which have an Ultra-slim sole so look less chunky (although I actually like the chunky original sole). The Sylvie shoe also has the thin sole and are a brogue style that seems popular although again I stick to my 1461 shoes with the thicker sole. To be honest I don’t think you can go wrong with any of them its just personal choice. Its worth having a look around as sometimes you can get offers. I know tReds, Sole Trader & Schuh all sell Dr Martens.

  2. I broke my ankle in my first pair of docs, I had a heeled pair for school and some how managed to fall down the 2 steps in them, gave everyone there a good laugh – I didn’t spill my crisps at all, it was only when my ankle started swelling and I couldn’t stand on it people realised it was probably quite serious. I sent the shoes to a charity shop, but wish now I had kept them.

Oh now I do like the looks of the Christina.. Think I might just have to start off a ‘big’ collection ;) . I’m going to have to spend sometime looking and seeing what to buy.
Why is buying shoes such a hard task!!x

  3. The only time I wore Dr Martens was when I was a Brosette lol.  Happy Days.  Awesome shoes and sooooooo comfortable but not ladylike enough for me these days.  Things we do when we’re young lol.

  4. It depends what you want them for. The first pair Melody are adorable and would be lovely in spring/summer/early autumn with skirts, jeans, shorts or dresses, and the print and little strap are so cute! The Tana boots are really nice too, but more for wearing with jeans in the autumn and winter. I’d have both if you could afford it lol!
The last pair, well I’ve never been a fan of this style I have to say, but the colour is lovely :)

  5. I love Doc Martins – just not the price! The boots are fab for most of the year but its coming to summer now and you would be boiling in them! xoxo

  6. I like Melody but not very practical for everyday wear. I like the 1460 pair best- because of the colour mainly.

  7. As much as I adore the 1460′s especially in purple I think I prefer the Tana boot, more feminine & could be teamed with jeans or a dress, so more versitile too.  They look ever so comfy. So my vote is for those. x

  8. I like the melody ones, they are Dr Martens but girlie too. Personally I find that Skechers are like walking on air but in fairness have never tried Dr Martens

  9. I love Dr Martins but ooh this is a hard choice and would depend upon what you wear more. I personally like Tana best, i like the unusual and i think they would go with either a skirt or trousers.

  10. i love Melody but mainly because that is my daughter’s name! plus i am a bit girlie so these are what i would pick

  11. I love the classic dr martins and want a pair for myself althought I think the pumps are awesome x
