Guest Post: Meet Momma Bean

No Wednesday hasn’t come around that quickly again, I was talking to the lovely D the other day and she was telling me about a meme she has set up on her blog, in which she is trying to get other bloggers involved – so I pounced on her a little and she very kindly offered to write me a post, so here she is telling you a little more about her and about her fabulous idea of how to get bloggers ‘thinking pink’ this October.

Anyway enough rambling from me I shall pass you over to the lovely D of Sweet Jelly Bean.

Hi Everyone!

I’m so excited being here and I must say the biggest thank you to Sarah for giving me the chance to take her platform just for today. I’ve only been blogging for five months but I’ve encountered so many fantastic bloggers from all over the world, and Sarah is definitely one of them.

A quick intro about myself, so at least we can get to know each other.

Hi, I’m D, I mostly go by this now when blogging as is so much easier than my full length name, although some of the bloggers I know for a while call me my real name. I’m a Momma to a little guy called AJ, who rocks my world and makes me all go happy/crazy! ha ha. You can’t help but love kids!
When I first started few months ago, I had in mind that I would share the little things in life during my journey to motherhoodville with my little guy. But then I wanted to give more and let my awesome readers know some of the best products we’ve tried and tested, hence I started to review them.

So now I do beauty products review as well as blog DIYs (mostly for beginners) with easy tutorials & tips to better the look of your blog. I’ve learned that even tweaking the little detail will make a difference, without shelling out some cash for it, of course! I pretty much searched high and low for the best editing sites online, and luckily found some really good ones. And when you’re on a budget, you’ll start to love the wonders html tags can do for your good ‘ol site!

Now then, another reason why I’m here is because this month is very special. I’m sure some of you, if not all, have already seen some of the girlies here waving ‘Pink’ on their blogs to support Breast Cancer Awareness. To welcome the month of October, I turned my site pink, from my header to its background! Why? Because it’s all for the good cause.
The blogosphere is probably one of the most powerful places to spread the word and make a difference. And although we’re all doing this virtually, you’ll be surprised to know how many real lives we’ll reach and touch. In fact, a lovely comment was dropped by at my blog from a cancer survivor who said thank you for spreading the word — and that’s Thanks to You, who ‘Blog Pink’ and put up the badge.
With this campaign, we use our talent — whether it’s writing, photography (we want pink-themed pictures!) crafting, and how we actually inspire others to do the same — to promote awareness. Of course, you’re more than welcome to donate to your respective charities you support, which I’ve done myself already. Have you picked up your pink ribbon brooch yet? I got mine the other day at Cancer Research UK, where I also came across one of the sweetest finds throughout my shopping history! Details will be revealed in my post this Friday, where I’m featuring some of the girls here from Blogger.

And if with this campaign we encourage more people with big hearts to donate more, even better! Don’t you think?

I’ll be dedicating 3 more posts at Sweetjellybean.com for the whole month to spread the word even further, as being fully aware of this dreaded disease is very important. As one of the quote says, ‘the best protection is early detection’ from storybookapothecary.com’s latest post on Breast Cancer Awareness as she joins ‘Blog Pink’.

Let’s show those who are going through tough times that they’re not alone as we’re fighting with them.

And if you would like to partake in my next pink-themed post, you can drop me an email anytime. Don’t be shy, it’s all for a good cause.

Lastly, a big hug and thank you to Sarah for letting this Momma Bean (yes, I love jellybeans :-) ) share this good cause to everyone here. Truly an amazing experience — my first guest post ever!

xx D
